The CW will likely pick up a fourth season of 90210 but one major player is planning to leave the zip code: EW has learned that showrunner Rebecca Sinclair has decided not to renew her deal. The news was first reported on TVLine.

“Rebecca’s contract was up so it was no surprise to us at all,” said a spokesperson for CBS Television Studios, which produces the drama for the CW. ”We have a very strong staff and we have been exploring various people and are confident we’ll find the right replacement.”

90210 just wrapped production on its third season. Sinclair, who joined the show after the first year, was credited for injecting some much needed luster into the teen angst series. It’s unclear who will take her place.

That’s too bad. Seasons 2 and 3 have been FAR better than the first season, so let’s hope they get a new showrunner who knows what they’re doing.

I completely agree. I remember when she came on and I read an interview where she just basically said the show sucked and needed to be completely retooled. Not only was she being brutally honest, but I was so glad to hear it because the first season freaking sucked!

      • Dave

They lost me after the first season, it was unbearable and props to you all for sticking it out. Thought FOR SURE it would be canceled by now.

  • Darrow

I’m okay with it as long as someone competent takes over in season 4.

  • dee123

Let’s face facts, the Teddy hoopla helped a lot to improve the show.

    • Miss Talk

I agree but the writing and the acting improved as well. Ms Sinclair couldn’t leave at a better time, we all know college years rarely work on TV.

  • ali

I only hope that Annie doesn’t get a stalker in season 4…

  • Jason S.

As long as Tedy and Dixon sre killed off in the finale, I’m ok with it

    • Reba

HAHAHAHA! OMG, that was just too funny. Thanks for the laugh.

  • Ami

Aw. I was hoping Annie would be leaving. Then I could watch the show again. (She annoys the life out of me)

    • Asha

Me too! I don’t watch anymore because the whol Annie is in love with her stalker story was just so annoying and my dislike for her character only strengthened after that. Hopefully she’ll go to New York to pursue her dream of being an actress and the show will be rid of her character. I

They should do what Skins and Degrassi does and replace the cast after they graduate. The actors are already sick of the show anyway

  • Reba

What I really don’t understand is how Annie MURDERED a man, and didn’t go to prison. She isn’t even really on probation. WTF? Do these people not think about plot? Also, Teddy being gay came out of nowhere, as did Naveed’s father being a child pornographer. They need to foreshadow such big plot lines before they just dump them on the audience.

    • Kris

They don’t think. Annie wasn’t suppose to be the one who KILLED (murder implies intent hun, look up words before you use them)it was suppose to be someone else but they didn’t want to drag the storylie out so Annie got 3 months house arrest.

      • yolk

Wow, ‘hun’, I didnt know that we needed fact checkers to post a comment on such a ridiculous unreal show. Get off your high horse unless you are talking about real world facts, hun.

      • jules

There are lesser degrees of murder that don’t imply intent but nice try. Only 1st degree is premeditated (implies intent).

  • Clayton

Okay call me lame but I love this show and um Reba they were already planning on Teddy being gay they been saying they would have a gay character for season 2 and 3 so it was kinda obvious lol but your right bout the navid dad thing that hot me bad but this us my favorite show this needs a 4th season and they need bring back melrose place!

  • Matt C.

I love 90210, and I really hope it returns for another season, no matter who the showrunner is. I just hope Sinclair’s replacement has actually been watching the show and knows what he/she is doing.

  • Kris

GOOD! She ruined the show. Season 2 was the worst and she has utterly failed at trying to make Naomi the show’s sole focus.

    • jules

The show itself is meh…but I don’t appreciate that she ruined original 90210 history by killing off Jackie Taylor (and making her a raging alcoholic again after she’d been sober since the 1st season of the original show – although that storyline could have been teh 1st season show runner).

    • Crystal

Howccould she ruin the show when it was tanking before she came on. Season one was an epic failure, it lost most of it’s viewers after the first episode.

  • s

Season 2 and 3 have been great! One of my fave guilty pleasures.

    • Deiko

Season 2 was good but they dragged Annie’s murder storyline out the whole season. Where as Naomi’s rape storyline lasted half season which was the right amount of time. I don’t get why so many people didn’t like Season 1. The only negative about season 1 is that Annie and Naomi were always into it. come on wheres the sisterhood at.

  • Alexis

I seriously thought this show was going to be cancelled after the first season. Their acting is terrible. Ther all like 20-somethings that seriously need to move on. The really need to improve their acting skills. And BTW i loved Annie on Degrassi so much better than on 90210 her charecter is so anoying. And i really hope they don’t turn Teddy into a player, well more than he already is.

  • Lem

S1 was dull…but S2 and S3 have been really good. Naomi’s rape storyline & Annie’s Jasper storyline was good.

  • Lem

Silver is becoming the town slut though….Dixon, Teddy, Navid (off the top of my head)….damn girl.
