In tonight’s finale, (as teased in Friday’s Spoiler Room) there will be a big secret revealed that will change the direction of the mystery, and tie up a few lingering plotlines. For Spencer Hastings (Troian Bellisario), that means dealing with the host of problems before her. “She’s falling through the floor and hitting rock bottom as far as being investigated by the police, being ostracized by her family, losing her connection with her sister, and not [being] sure [of] who she can trust,” Bellisario tells EW. “And she’s the prime suspect in the murder of her best friend, and she knows she has a really good reason to have done it. I personally think Spencer hasn’t. But she had the motivation, the connection, and the rage toward Ali, and now that’s all coming back and biting her in the butt.”
And come season 2, Bellisario expects more to come back and haunt Spencer, namely the events from the night of Ali’s disappearance. “You got to see this season a little bit of what happened between Spencer and Ali that night, and to me, that’s a storyline I’d like to see. I don’t know where [the writers are] going to go with anything, but I would love to find out that night,” she says.
Whatever may come, the actress says she’s most happy that Spencer now has a new (and forbidden) support system in Toby, her former nemesis of sorts. “What’s really great about the show is that even though she’s falling down the rabbit hole in the sense, she’s also falling in love, and finding a true connection with somebody,” she says. “For the first time, somebody is actually saying, ‘What do you want?’ It’s really beautiful. It’s fun for me to play the dichotomy of having some of the best moments of your life come immediately after or before some of the worst.” And what, exactly, is “the worst”? Our guess is that we’ll find out tonight.

I am very excited for the finale…and that’s a wee bit embarrassing to admit, being that I’ve got about a decade on the show’s target audience. It’s my guilty pleasure. Well…this and booze.
I second that, Jen! I am so embarrassed that I watch this show… I watch it in secret when my husband is out and my daughter is asleep. Ha ha!
EW, I want Spencer’s sweater in that photo! Anyone know the manufacturer?
LOL! Glad to see I’m not alone after all. I don’t know who makes that sweater (it is cute!) but I think every episode has me wanting something from the girls’ closets!
I third your sentiments – way too old to be watching this show but what the heck they can all act and I am curious who killed Ali?? Absolutely no idea anymore but I would like it to be Ian. I’m guessing season 2 starts during the summer???
VERY embarrassed, 40, construction worker, married with 2 teenagers. Also love gossip girl, Dexter and sons of anarchy. PLL rules!!!! I think it’s Ian and Melissa????
I don’t think you have to be a certain age to love something. It’s a great show. I teach high school reading and the students cannot get enough of the books! I am going to turn 34 soon and I love PLL and Gossip Girl!
lol! that is great, your post made me laugh. I am a grad student and also “too old” to watch but apparently all of us need a fun escape because we work so hard! I was so embarassed I watched this but not anymore!
ok, I may have topped you all. I am 51, college graduate, and can’t stop watching this show! I love the reference to it as a junior version of Desperate Housewives. Since no one I know watches it, I’m having trouble keeping all the clues and various extra characters straight, so if anyone has a good site to refer me to so I can refresh on everything before June, please post. thanks!
The finale was epic and I can’t wait for the next season in June! I think Ian is still alive and might come back! So Spencer better watch her back! I love Spencer and Toby!
I think melissa is A it mak re s since cuz ian was havin a affair wit ali and melissa found out so she killed her
