Tom Hanks tweets upcoming visit to '30 Rock'

Tags: , News

Good news for 30 Rock fans! Tom Hanks stirred up the twitter-verse last night with the following tweet: “RadioMan delivers msg from T.Fey. Result? I’m on 30 Rock! Thanks, RMan Hanx.” The two-time Academy Award winner, who got his start on television with the early ’80s sitcom Bosom Buddies, has not been a guest star on a TV series since his turn as Uncle Ned on Family Ties in 1984. Of course, 30 Rock has had great success luring big guest stars (including Matt Damon, Jon Hamm, Jennifer Aniston, Steve Martin, Oprah) and just the idea of a Hanks-Fey team-up is pretty funny already. Hanks’ spokesperson did not immediately return a call to confirm.

That show is such a clunker.

R U a bitter Community or Two and a Half Men fan?

      • Ryan

Don’t lump Community and Two and a Half Men together. I love Community – AND I love 30 Rock. But I wouldn’t touch Two and a Half Men with a 10-foot pole. I think plenty of Community fans appreciate 30 Rock, they are both intelligent, pop culture commenting shows with great writing.

      • Dave

Yeah, what’s the deal with lumping Community with Two and a Half Men? Community is great. Two and a Half Men is utter garbage.

      • JC

What world are you living in where people can’t love 30 Rock and Community at the same time?

      • A

I agree, JC. Community and 30 Rock go together like peanut butter and jelly.

      • murley

yes this association makes no sense. count me as loving community and 30 rock and thinking 2 1/2 men is utter garbage.

    • El Mexicano

It’s only a clunker if you don’t understand the humor. It’s very funny.

  • Cris

I’ve been wishing for years to see Tom Hanks return to his comedy roots. Couldn’t have picked a better show to do it with! Can’t wait!

  • Mr KnowItAll

You’re wrong. WRONG. Tom Hanks guest starred in an episode of Bonnie Hunt’s sitcom Life With Bonnie, The episode was titled “What If?”, Hanks appeared as himself in a dream sequence. Hanks and Hunt are longtime friends, going back to their work together in The Green Mile.

  • Heather

That’s not true – he was on The Naked Truth in 1995. But he played himself so maybe that doesn’t count?

Love 30 Rock (only show that comes close to Friends and Seinfeld). Love Fey. Love Hanks. BOOM!

  • arben

his turn as Uncle Ned on Family Ties in 1984
… which convinced me at age 14 to never even approach becoming a drunk.

Tom Hanks guest starred on The Naked Truth, the Téa Leoni sitcom. He did this before the horrible reboot of the show.

  • Jake Albrecht

This article is factually incorrect, Tom Hanks was on an episode of that Tea Leoni sitcom where she was a paparazzi photographer, I forget the name, but in the episode she swears off taking trashy photos of people and Tom Hanks shows up, his zipper gets caught down and attached to someone else, and at the end he confesses he does this all the time.

Twitter to Tom Hanks: We don’t care!

  • LostMom

I want to go to there … especially after watching his hilarious parody of Toddlers & Tiaras on JKL — can’t wait for this.

  • Lacy

Tom Hanks did a guest appearance on one of the many incarnations of Bonnie Hunt’s sitcom.

Tom Hanks played drunk uncle Ned on Family Ties. Then he did Naked Truth because he worked with Holland Taylor on Bosom Buddies. Now he’s anxious to work with Holland Taylor again so he’s going to replace Charlie Sheen as drunk uncle Ned on 2.5 Men.
