Jennifer Aniston, Demi Moore and others to helm Lifetime films about breast cancer

A star-studded lineup of celebrities, including Jennifer Aniston, Alicia Keys and Demi Moore, will help direct Project Five, an anthology of five short films that will explore the impact of breast cancer. Independent Spirit Award-winner Patty Jenkins (Monster) also signed on to helm the Lifetime original project.

Aniston, along with Marta Kauffman (Friends), Paula Wagner (The Last Samurai, Mission: Impossible), Kristin Hahn (The Departed, The Switch), Kevin Chinoy (Greg the Bunny, Warren the Ape) and Francesca Silvestri (Greg the Bunny, Warren the Ape) will executive produce the production.

Lifetime says Project Five will “use humor and drama to focus on the effect that breast cancer and its diagnosis have on relationships and the way women perceive themselves, while searching for strength, comfort, medical breakthroughs and, ultimately, a cure.”  Under Kauffman’s supervision, writers Stephen Godshaux (Spin City, Dead Like Me), Jill Gordon (Cupid, My So-Called Life), Howard Morris (Women are Crazy, Men are Stupid), Deirdre O’Connor (The Electric Company) and Wendy West (Dexter, The Closer) have written a film included in Project Five.  The film’s fifth director will be announced in the coming weeks.

“Our hope with Project Five is to entertain, inform and inspire dialogue, research and prevention.  Otherwise, our goals are small,” said Aniston in a statement.  “We want these films to move people and empower those affected by breast cancer to stand tall through this challenge, which impacts all of our lives, no matter who we are.”

Jennifer Aniston…Frankly, I am burned out on Jennifer Aniston. Maybe I would be more receptive if Jen would make amends with her exiled Mother.

Huh? Aniston and her mother have been reconciled since 2005 – Jennifer has briefly spoken about it in Vogue in 2008 and and GMA in 2005 and Ellen in 2009. Regardless, not sure what that has to do with being receptive to her or not. Unless you are privy to the specifics of their relationship and what let to their estrangement, there is no room to judge. It’s very easy for those who have not dealt with a self-involved, emotionally abusive and capitalizing parent to look down on parental estrangement as the fault of the child, or as simple grudge-holding or immaturity.

this is great it could help save some one life! Jen has a relationship with her mother and father! Just because she doesn’t speak constantly in public about them doesn’t mean she doesn’t have a relationship with them. (Her dad was so sweet talking about her after her relationship with John. You could tell they have a good relationship. As far as her mother goes she has a relationship there too maybe not as close as her dad however her dad didn’t write not one but two books about his daughter)

Why not? They both have great boobs!

Fake boobs. I saw some pics of Jen and you could see a clear outline of her implant. I don’t think Demi’s are real either?

  • Hmmm

Why don’t they get Christina Applegate to direct? Or someone who has actual experience with breast cancer? It seems like none of these actresses have experience with breast cancer or directing
(co-directing a 5 minute short with a friend does not count, Ms Aniston). So why are they picked rather than someone more experienced? It just seems like a shallow publicity ploy to get attention by using big-name celebs rather than using people who would be right for the project?

Moore and Aniston both have short directing experience, but everyone has to start somewhere – not sure why it matters as long as they take this seriously and do a good job. Besides, Aniston is both director and exec producer on this and it is obviously a passion project – she is quoted in the press release, she assembled the group of women for it (many of whom are close friends as well as colleagues). Perhaps Applegate has no interest in directing or being invovled – she idd just have a baby afterall.

Great, now Aniston can direct turds as well star in them. Lucky us
