And he’s got some ‘splainin’ to do: Fox confirms to EW that Lea Michele’s former Spring Awakening co-star, Jonathan Groff, will return to Glee at the end of the season to wrap up his storyline with Michele’s Rachel. (Michael Ausiello at TV Line first reported the news.) Last we saw Groff’s character, Jesse St. James, he was singing “Bohemian Rhapsody” with Vocal Adrenaline — and breaking Rachel’s heart. (She discovered he may have been dating her just to spy on New Directions prior to Regionals.) He’ll be returning to McKinley High to ask Rachel for forgiveness. One request, Jesse: Stay away from “Sorry 2004.” (Reporting by Tim Stack)

I thought they did horrible on how they ended his character last season- perhaps due to the fact they switched some episodes around so some things he did seemed odd.
He’s an amazing singer, and I really liked his character. Glad he’ll be back, I actually quite liked him with Rachel.

Yes…I forgot why, but two episodes were switched, totally destroying the plot line and sequencing for Jesse and Rachel’s story. One minute, they were a couple, the next, he’s slushing her. It was crazy! A total fail.
Yeah, the Gaga and Funk episodes were switched around.
He was supposed to appear in the Lady Gaga episode. You can find pictures on him online in that red outfit Vocal Adrenaline was rehearsing in when Rachel confronts her mother. Still not happy Glee took a Jonathan episode away from me.
Agreed! That is pretty much the reason I stopped watching Glee after the first season. It is one of the crappiest-written shows on TV (Heroes is the first).
I wish he would stay longer than to just wrap things up. He’s so dreamy!

I’d like to see a humbled Jesse return to Lima, or be discovered by the McKinley kids in NYC–waiting tables at a kids’ pizza party palace, while trying to audition on “the Broadway” (as our favorite singing souse April Rhodes calls it) and getting turned down for jobs because he’s too “high school musical” (lack of caps intended).

Well, I never thought I’d say this, but…looks like I’ll be watching Glee again (well, only for the episodes he’s on).
He was pretty good, but I never felt the relationship was unresolved, he was always just designed as a wrench to throw into the Rachel/Finn machine…and I expect this time around it will be more of the same.
But he was always a much better match for Rachel than Finn. Finn will never leave Lima.
I think that Jesse was supposed to be just a wrench thrown into the Finn/Rachel relationship but I also feel that Jesse’s a MUCH better match for Rachel than Finn is.
Not only are the characters better matched, but as much as Glee tries to prove otherwise, Finn/Rachel’s chemistry is about a 5 at best. Whereas Lea/Jon have amazing chemistry from both their SA days as well as the fact they’re best friends in real life.
