'Bones': David Boreanaz talks next week's blizzard episode, that memorable bar scene, and the missing Cocky belt buckle -- EXCLUSIVE

There will be a blackout on Bones next Thursday, but if the promo for the March 17 episode is any indication, there will still be plenty of electricity between Booth (David Boreanaz) and Brennan (Emily Deschanel). They get stuck together in an elevator (pictured) with seats from Philadelphia’s imploded Veterans Stadium, where Booth used to go to games with his father. Boreanaz, who also takes his fourth turn in the director’s chair for the Fox drama, is happy to give EW the set-up: ”At the start of the episode, these guys are dumping the seats in the middle of this snowstorm, and I’m like, Bank! Bank! Bank! ‘Get the seats and bring ‘em up to the apartment.’ I’m like a little kid in a candy store. I convince Bones and Sweets [John Francis Daley] to lend a hand and help me carry these things that weigh like 8,000 pounds through the snow, up the stairs, and into grandmother’s house we go — the elevator. We jam them in the elevator, the elevator door closes, and a quarter of the way up, the power goes out, and Bones and I are stuck in there for almost half a day,” he says. “That’s where they kinda come to grips with their relationship, and he pulls out a ring and says, ‘Will you marry me, please?’ No.” (That was funny but cruel. “It is, right?” he says, still laughing.)  READ FULL STORY »

Chantal or Emily? That is the decision facing towering, personality-free robot Brad Womack on The Bachelor. On this week’s InsideTV Podcast, Bachelor expert Kristen Baldwin joins Annie Barrett and yours truly to discuss whom Brad should choose and will choose on Monday night. Turns out not all of us agree. Then we move on over to American Idol. Did the right person go home? Who’s on the hot seat for next week? Is Casey still #1 in our power rankings? In the middle of debating all these questions, an argument breaks out over James Durbin. Annie and I are lovin’ The Durbs so far. Kristen? Not so much. Listen in and hear why! Finally, Annie and I take stock of all the big Celebrity Apprentice feuds: Whom do we like in Star Jones vs. Lisa Rinna and Jose Canseco vs. Richard Hatch? Plus, are we the only ones that share an unhealthy obsession with Marlee Matlin’s interpreter?

'American Idol' helps 'Bones' beat 'CSI' in ratings

American Idol had its lowest-rating performance of the season, yet still had enough fire to dominate Thursday night and boost Bones into beating CSI.

Idol drew 21.7 million viewers and a 6.5 rating in the adult demo. (Fox likes to do year-over-year comparisons for Idol, and points out the show is retaining 96 percent of its numbers when you look at the full week from this time last year.)

Bones (10.9 million, 3.4) was up a tick from its last original and bested CSI (13.6 million, 3.1), despite the CBS crime show rising 15 percent. In fact, with NBC, ABC, and The CW in repeats, CBS grew nearly across the board, with Big Bang Theory (12.1 million, 3.8), Rules of Engagement (9.5 million, 2.8), and The Mentalist (14.4 million, 3.0).

CW topper Dawn Ostroff may be shepherding her best development season yet, but the veteran programmer is not expected to stick around to see the 2011-12 launch: Ostroff, whose contract is up in June, reportedly informed both CBS Corp chief Leslie Moonves and Warner Bros., Chairman and CEO Barry Meyer that she will leave sometime this summer to return to New York, where her husband’s job is based.

Ostroff has run CW since 2006, when it became  joint venture between Warner Bros., and CBS. She’s been bi-coastal for the last five years. READ FULL STORY »

It was less than two months ago that we watched tsunami warnings sound on an episode of CBS’ Hawaii Five-0. In the wake of the 8.9-magnitude earthquake in Japan, the cast and crew have heard them again. Fortunately, the tsunami waves that have hit the Hawaiian islands have been modest and reportedly caused no major damage. Star Daniel Dae Kim tweeted about the warning and earthquake, the largest ever recorded in Japan, early this morning, calling them a “Reality check.” He added, “Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers. My family and I have moved to high ground. Now we wait…” Hawaii Five-0 executive producer Peter Lenkov, in LA, followed up on Twitter three hours later. “Cast & Crew safe. All at high ground. So far it’s wait and see. Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers.” (UPDATE: A rep for CBS Television Studios tells EW, “Hawaii had no land damage we are told, and therefore production is shooting today.”) READ FULL STORY »

'American Idol': Adam Lambert talks 'Aftermath' and his next move -- EXCLUSIVE VIDEO

Adam Lambert performed a stunning rendition of his single, “Aftermath,” on last night’s American Idol, and after the show, the Season 8 alum gave EW an exclusive interview, discussing the song, and what to expect from him this year. “The message of the song is being honest to yourself and the people that you love,” says Lambert. “I think we’ve all had that moment in our life where we’re really intimidated about a big decision about admitting something. It’s really about taking that step.”

Proceeds from the song will go to The Trevor Project, a leading organization dedicated to suicide prevention amongst LGBTQ youth. You can buy the single exclusively at Lambert’s website.

'American Idol' exit Q&A video: Ashthon Jones says she 'wasn't surprised' to go home -- EXCLUSIVE VIDEO

Ashthon Jones, American Idol‘s resident “diva” this season, says she wasn’t surprised that she was the first finalist sent home from the show. ”I kind of felt it,” she told EW in video interview backstage an hour after the results show had ended. “But I still kept the faith.” (She even tweeted her premonition hours before the show.) When discussing her regret for choosing a lesser known Diana Ross ballad to sing, Ashthon shared that Idol judge Jennifer Lopez told her after the show, “If I ever get an album, make sure I have hit songs on there.” And as for whether being called a “diva” by Lopez may have put some people off, Ashthon was philosophical. “A diva is not always a person that has that attitude, you know, ‘I’m all that,’” she said. “I like to dress, I love to have make-up on, I like to do my hair…. I love to have confidence, but that confidence doesn’t come from myself. It comes from God, and that’s what I wanted America to see.”
