Court denies Charlie Sheen's attempt to halt arbitration of Warner Bros., Chuck Lorre lawsuit

It was anything but a #winning moment today for the Charlie Sheen legal team, after a Los Angeles judge denied a request that would have halted arbitration in Sheen’s lawsuit against Warner Bros. and Chuck Lorre.

Sheen’s team had filed a request for a temporary restraining order against JAMS, the arbitration firm in charge of handling the contract dispute, claiming their client wants his day in court, according to the Los Angeles Times. With that request now denied, his counsel will reportedly continue their quest and take the matter up with the original judge assigned to the $100-million lawsuit. Meanwhile, Warner Bros. claims the actor’s contract calls for arbitration to resolve disputes.

Sheen filed the lawsuit March 10 following several tumultuous weeks of back-and-forth between Sheen and his now former employers.

The suit, which Sheen filed on behalf of himself and the Two and a Half Men crew, claimed Lorre and the studio “conspire[d]” to “attribute the suspension of the series and termination of Mr. Sheen’s contract on Mr. Sheen’s alleged statements, conduct, and condition, despite the fact that Mr. Sheen is in compliance with his contract.” Lorre’s lawyer later called the allegations “fantasy.”

MTV has ordered two more seasons of its groundbreaking reality franchise, The Real World, which is currently in the midst of its 25th season, set in Las Vegas. “The Real World has remained relevant for 25 seasons because it continues to capture the lives of young adults, hold a mirror to the challenges they face, and truly reflect the current generation,” said Jonathan Murray, exec producer and chairman of Bunim/Murray Productions, in a statement. “We thank MTV for their ongoing commitment to this show, and we’re excited to see where the two additional seasons take us.”

Casting is already underway for Season 26, which was previously approved by MTV, so this new deal guarantees a 27th and 28th edition of the show.

'NCIS' franchise wins again. And 'The Good Wife' = good ratings

Categories: TV Ratings

CBS was triumphant on Tuesday with originals of its NCIS franchise and an edge-of-your-seat episode of The Good Wife. The network averaged 15.7 million viewers and a 3.0 rating/9 share among adults 18-49, according to early results. Opposite a repeat of Glee, the mother ship of NCIS earned a 3.8/12 and 19.2 million, followed by NCIS: LA (3.2/9, 16.4 million). Each 18-49 ratings point equals 1.3 million.

Wife won its timeslot in 18-49 (2.1/6, 11.6 million), though it helped that NBC had a repeat of Parenthood (drat!) and ABC aired a two-hour from the news division (?) titled Best in Film: Greatest Movies of Our Time (1.8/5, 5.3 million). But it was still a delicious episode. Did you see it?

And hey, No Ordinary Family showed a 25% gain from March 1! But again — no competition from Glee. The Michael Chiklis hour earned a 1.5/5 and 5.2 million. But if you think the boost will help save the show, think again. (See: Chiklis finding a new job. And while we’re at it, hear Chiklis singing).

The Biggest Loser earned a 3.0/9 — up 11% from last week — and 8.1 million viewers.

Jonathan Jackson talks about that 'General Hospital' tearjerker death

When I told Jonathan Jackson that he’d made me cry — twice! — with his performance as  a father whose child died on Monday’s General Hospital, he wasn’t exactly wracked with guilt about it.
“I sort of want to apologize but I’m not sure I should. It was kind of what we were going for,” says Jackson, who in 2009 returned to the character of Lucky Spencer, son of famed Luke and Laura, which he’d originated back in 1993. READ FULL STORY »

'The Good Wife': Creators Robert and Michelle King answer burning questions about last night's explosive episode

the-good-wife

Every episode of CBS’ The Good Wife typically ups the ante of the one that came before it, but last night’s hour, cheekily titled “Ham Sandwich,” blew wide open the drama’s already knotty atmosphere: Dark, violent investigator Blake (Scott Porter) revealed the shocking news that — SPOILER ALERT – his mysterious nemesis Kalinda (Archie Panjabi, right) slept with her best friend Alicia’s (Julianna Margulies, left) husband, former state’s attorney Peter Florrick (Chris Noth), when she’d worked for him years before (see Ken Tucker’s take). The revelation is more than your typical twist for several reasons, but mostly because it almost transforms two of the show’s most crux-y relationships — the romantic one between spouses Alicia and Peter, and the friendly one between coworkers Alicia and Kalinda.

How long has this revelation been planned? Was it intended as a reboot? Can anything else this season possibly top this? Why not wait until the finale for such a bombshell? We tapped Robert and Michelle King — the married co-creators and co-executive producers of The Good Wife — to answer those burning questions and many more here:

Chris Brown still booked on 'Dancing with the Stars' despite 'GMA' incident

Although he reportedly flew into a rage after a Good Morning America appearance earlier today, Chris Brown is still slated to perform on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars on March 29, a network spokesperson confirmed to EW. As part of a promotional stop for his new album F.A.M.E., the 21-year-old singer sat for an interview with GMA anchor Robin Roberts that included questions about his assault on his ex-girlfriend Rihanna two years ago. According to reports, following the interview and the first of two scheduled performances, he smashed a window in his dressing room in anger before storming out of the studio shirtless.

MTV's 'Skins' rises for finale, but will TV's most controversial drama return?

MTV’s Skins aired the last episode of its first — and possibly final — season on Monday night.

The drama delivered 1.2 million viewers, rising slightly from the previous week and marking one of the show’s most-watched telecasts.

That’s still not a huge number — especially on a channel where shows like Teen Mom and Jersey Shore deliver millions more. But MTV has been trying to get a foothold in the scripted drama game, and Skins outperformed last summer’s first season of The Hard Times of R.J. Berger — which was renewed (and that, remember, is about a teenager with a giant penis, but parents weren’t lining up to protest that one).

MTV said Tuesday they have not decided whether to renew the show. There are many at the network who are fans of the project and, on paper, you can certainly make an argument to keep it — its performance was steady after the first few weeks, it improved its time period, it’s very on brand, etc. READ FULL STORY »

Look who reached 250! The cast and crew of CSI gathered recently to celebrate the milestone of completing 250 episodes. (Lordy!) Billy Petersen joined in on what appears to be a party in one of the exam rooms. An appropriate place to do some cutting, right?

'Days of Our Lives': Gay story line coming to Salem? -- EXCLUSIVE

days-of-our-lives

As Days of Our Lives celebrates its 45th anniversary in daytime, the traditionally conservative NBC soap is about to get a lot more contemporary: EW has learned exclusively that a gay story line may be in the works! From what we gather, it may involve a current cast member hooking up with someone new.

A show spokeswoman declined to comment.

While competing sudsers have been in the forefront when it comes to same-sex couples — ABC’s All My Children, for example, had the first lesbian character in Bianca Montgomery (Eden Riegel), which led to the first gay marriage between her and Reese Williams (Tamara Braun) — Days has largely played a backseat role in terms of featuring gay couples. Stay tuned!

Meanwhile, current and previous cast members like Kristian Alfonzo (Hope Brady), Arianne Zucker (Nicole Walker), and Deidre Hall (Marlena Evans) have hit the road to help promote the book Days of our Lives 45: A Celebration in Photos. Thousands of rabid fans have attended book signings in New York and Chicago, with more planned for New Orleans, Boston, Seattle, and Vancouver.

Season to date, Days is second place among women 18–34 and tied for third with ABC’s The View among women 18–49.

What are your thoughts, Days fans? Will the new story line involve Dario Hernandez, maybe? Or perhaps Sami’s son Will? Sound off below!
