The final 11 American Idol contestants gathered in a Hollywood studio last week for our big Entertainment Weekly photo shoot (on stands soon!), so we took a few minutes to ask them each about how things are going in the competition. Has Casey recovered from the shock of almost being sent home? What did Scotty sound like before puberty? And how does Pia feel about instigating a disagreement between superstar spouses Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony? Those answers and more — including the ’80s metal band James Durbin would love to front for a night — will be revealed in the video player after the jump. Paul, you will be in the top 5. You have a charming voice and great talent like Adam Levine. Please do a Maroon 5 song.
Paul should do a Train song. He reminds me of that band.

I agree. He will be. He should be. I love his voice and he is extremely entertaining.
Paul’s voice is better than I thought it was, a few weeks ago. It truly is unique. But Train’s singer regularly hits high notes that I don’t think Paul can.
I’m not hating on him, at all, and think he’ll make it as his own artist.
Paul can do nice high notes. Go to youtube and watch his top 24 Maggie May performance. He did a nice job at hitting the high notes, so I think he could hit the Train high notes.
I listened to Paul’s album online with his band and would totally buy it and listen to it on a regular basis. He has such a unique sound and when allowed to really explore it he sounds wonderful.
I have bought the Grand Magnolias album and listen to it often. I love it and I love Paul. You should totally buy it!
Interesting, how some of them are playing music and bopping, but a couple of the girls are really just posing for the cameras…
I know that video content is wonderful – but I always wish these things got transcripted. I enjoy reading – but I’ve got the video stuff blocked by a firewall.
James is the best singer and the best performer…he deserves to win!

I think Pia, voice not withstanding is the most deeply shallow contestant this year.
Yeah because everybody else sound so deeeeeep! LOL how about pointing out things that are very obvious – she is the best singer on the show and the most beautiful one! We don`t know is she shallow or not couse we never met her!!!!!!!!

Right on, I could not have said it better. I would not miss her nor Jacob. Paul is interesting. I also like Scotty who is so humble, clean cut and unpretentious. I’m glad the majority decides.
I am a woman, but I am transfixed by Pia’s rack in that dress! It (they) looks amazing!
My favorites are Paul, James, Casey, Scotty and Haley. I hope Pia, who is so over-rated, gets eliminated soon.

BTW Pia is wearing a second skin as a dress. It looks like it was painted on!!! She doesn’t need to go that far IMO. She’s got the voice and she can make it on that alone, the looks are the bonus but she doesn’t have to sell herself to make it.
People are saying that Casey and Haley spend a bunch of time together and they have a very touchy feely relationship. They are going to have cute little growling kids. Lovers!

Man, does Lauren give bad soundbites! No wonder all her interview clips sound scripted, they must be.
And by the way, both Lee DeWyze (in an EW interview) and Adam Lambert (in a new New Zeland radio interview) named the same persons as their faves, only in a different order: Haley, Pia ad Casey.
I think Pia is the most qualified to be the next american Idol. She has it all she is beautiful, sings great and has the maturity. I just love her.
Pia reminds me of Katherine McFee. Yes, good voice but, too much of a musical sound. She will be successful much the same as Katherine. I really like Scotty, James and Paul. I still don’t understand the Casey save other than he’s a nice kid. Without his growling his voice is weak. Oh well, they all have talent of some kind and will have careers. Usually not winning AI assures a quicker ride to the charts.
I guess you would not like Elton John either. Please give Casey more credit. I do like Scotty Paul and James. Glad to read that Lusk is not one of your idols.
