'Smallville' scoop: Does this teaser sound familiar?

Clark Kent is getting closer to his Superman destiny.

This Friday, The CW will roll out this promo for the final episodes of Smallville that licenses John Williams’ classic score from the original 1978 Superman movie. If you’re a fan, this will give you chills:

The use of the song (titled, by the way, "The Planet Krypton") is also accompanied here by the word "Believe" which is from -- guesses?

Yes! The famous Superman movie tagline: "You will believe a man can fly."

And here's a rather great marketing poster for the final season as well:

HOLY CRAP THIS IS AWESOME! IM GETTING CHILLS.

    • Elle

I will miss the show and I will miss Tom welling playing Clark Kent. He played a very humble, relatable, kind-hearted Clark and I’ll miss seeing him each week. Wishing the whole cast well in their future endeavors. All class acts.

      • Steve

Not only will I miss him. But Erica Durrance’s Lois is a great take on the character. Perhaps my favorite. Someone needs to get this woman her own show once Smallville is done.

      • Brian

Agreed. Both Tom and Erica have given my favorite Clark and Lois performances ever (as have the vast majority of SV’s actors).

      • Rob

Erica Durance is the reason I watch the show. She is a hot, young dead ringer for Margot Kidder. And Erica’s chemistry with Tom Welling is intense. I hope they get married in the finale like in the comics, which are so cool btw.

      • Brett

I don’t think Smallville has to end at all. They should just retitle the show to Metropolis and continue with Tom Welling as Superman.

      • Mcfly

She is not a dead ringer for Margot Kidder. Not at all. Are you blind?? SHe way better looking. Margot Kidder was kind of a lesbianic Lois.

    • Summer Bay

The poster is a complete rip off of The Phantom Menace but when i’m this excited i don’t care.

      • wsugar

Don’t you bring that piece of crap into this.

      • Jake

Exactly! “Great marketing”? Great copying!!! And someone got paid to COPY someone’s work. Good on them!

      • DFSF

It IS a ripoff of Phantom Menace poster, just as Williams’s Superman theme is a ripoff of his own Star Wars theme the year earlier.

      • Lana

That promo poster not only rips off Episode I, but SR as well. That shadow of Superman is obviously that of Brandon Routh – they don’t match at all with Tom’s proportions.

    • Clark, you are the light.

Agreed. Tom & Erica ARE the definitive Clark & Lois.

      • Brett

And Erica Durance is as hot as a yellow sun. I’m such a geek. But it is so true, Erica is so hot. Someone should give her her own show after this.

    • AT

Would be nice if we could still see it… video is now broken.

  • Richard

Damn that’s music to my ears. Can’t wait.

  • joblo

Just praying that the final episodes are as epic as I’ve been hoping they would be now for years. Finish strong!

  • John

Cool Video. Great Music. Could’ve been done a bit better, but still cool!

  • Genny

Gah! This is so exciting. I can’t wait. I can already feel the epicness. Totally feel the goosebumps.

  • Joker

    WOW THAT IS AWESOME!

  • Fortune

    the countdown begins. Epic.

  • Brian

So awesome! Can’t wait, but at the same time I know I’ll be sad that it’s over.
Why isn’t CW making a spinoff?

    • Fortune

i know right. We need a spin-off ASAP.

      • cal

Seriously. METROPOLIS season 1, this fall!

      • JeRwiiNx

        YES, SPINOFF! OR MOVIE!?

      • JaySin420

10 more years! 10 more years!

      • Brett

I’d rather have a movie. With Tom Welling as Superman and Erica Durance as Lois.

  • Mike W.

EPIC!! I hope the finale is awesome. I can’t wait to see how the best show of all time, my favorite, is going to end.

  • lory

Awesome i will miss this show

  • jeanne taylor

Sorry to see this show go, I have watched it from the start. The whole cast and writers have done a fantastic job through the years! Thank you for letting us grow with you! Tom Wellington is a wonderful actor.

    • Jimbo

      Tom… Wellington?

  • Jimena

OMG!!! This gave me chills. How AWESOME this is. Smallville best hsow ever. Can’t wait. I’m so watching the pilot tomorrow Friday 09!!!

  • Zoe

Love the poster, but the same idea was done with Star Wars – Phantom Menace: little-boy Anakin with the Darth Vader silhouette behind him in the sand on Tatooine. Yes, we all know it’s a sucky movie; but I can’t imagine the designer of this poster didn’t have that concept buried in his/her head somewhere.

    • Brian

And now the X-men First Class posters have done it with Xavier and Magneto.

  • Kenny Adams

I hear whispering… What are they whispering…. Can’t make it out.

    • Ken

      That’s just the Others

      • DS9Sisko

        ROFLMAO

    • Brett

The others don’t whisper. Its the dead souls hanging out with the man in black. Speaking of, I hope the Smallville finale is good and doesn’t pull a Linde-Lost

  • Jesse

    Awesome
