Those of you hoping for a little Regis with your coffee after he leaves Live! with Regis & Kelly might be out of luck — for now, anyway. Reports this morning claimed that Philbin, who announced his retirement in January, was shopping around a daytime syndicated talk show, in which he would star.

Philbin said during his initial announcement that his last show would air toward the end of summer or at the beginning of fall. No replacement has been named.

I thought it’s been declared that they’ll keep him through November sweeps?

Who said that? Regis has already said in January that he’s leaving the morning talk show. He’s just cutting down his workload on TV. And he just can’t keep up with those Internet/Web/Twitter savvy pair of Kelly Ripa and Michael Gelman, the executive producer who stands on the side. Kelly talks about her Twitter page way too much while Regis thinks this social networking trend is a fad.

I love Reege; known him since LA … but, methinks he spoke to soon when he announced he was on his way out of Live. ABC wanted to cut his salary … and, you know what: offers have not come in like he thought they would … so, there’s some backtracking!
He’ll stay with LIVE! through the New Year!
