Julia Ormond (Temple Grandin) has been tapped to star in all eight episodes of the final season of Law & Order: Criminal Intent on USA. She’ll play Dr. Paula Severin, a psychologist tasked with conducting mandatory sessions with Detective Goren (Vincent D’Onofrio) to unravel his tortured past.

The series will return May 1 at 9 ET with the first of eight new episodes. Besides D’Onofrio, the 10th season will feature the return of Eames (Kathryn Erbe). Forgot what’s up on the show? Here’s the 411: Goren was terminated for insubordination a year ago but he’s being reunited with his long-time partner at the behest of new Major Case Captain Joseph Hannah (Jay O. Sanders), a friend of Goren’s since their days in the academy.

The Dick Wolf drama averaged 3.6 million viewers in its ninth season.

I love Criminal Intent! The best of the L&O franchise IMO. I’m so glad they’re having it come back to end the series right with Goren and Eames. The show did start to suck a little once it went to USA and they changed the look and feel of it but I’ll still take that over not having it at all.

Law and Order is a good franchise but to tell the truth, I think that Criminal Intent was the best of them. Too bad, we will only get a taste and that this will be the final year

AWESOME!!! Julia Ormond is amazing. The casting is the best on Criminal Intent. It really is the best out of them all. Goren and Eames ROCK!

It sounds like they plan on going out with a bang rather than limping off into the sunset. Can’t wait to see the L&O ‘A’ Team back in the saddle.

Is it just me or has CI turned into Monk?

Glad it is wrapping up graciously. It
has been a fine show, but it is time.
SVU” needs to leave but since its ratings are fair, NBC will likely let
    it stay.

This once was the best detective show of all time IMO. The need to bring back the brains of the writing – Rene Balcer and his team, in order to give this great show the ending it deserves.

Shrink thing is hard to pull off these days (watch for cries of “Sopranos did it!” when reviews start rolling in), but D’Onofrio never disappoints.

The fans made their feelings known, and it seems it worked. It’s great that the show and the two stars get a proper ending.

I dont care who they put on. As long as i see Gorem and Eames there! Its great to kno that somebody was listening to the fans!!

I can’t wait to see Goren and Eames come back, not really interested in this shrink storyline tbh.

Now that I know this is their swan song I am sad! However also glad that Goren & Eames will leave with dignity! LOVE this show!!!!!!

I’ve always been fascinated by Bobby and I would love to see Alex solve a case. It would be so cool to have Bobby be the one that’s confounded and have Alex in the interrogation room playing head games with the suspect. Goren and Eames the baddest detective duo ever!

I stopped watching Criminal Intent when Goren and Eames left. I am so excited they are coming back, it wasn’t the same without them.

  • Devon

The show wasn’t the same when they left. great job bringing them back!
