Mother Mary! Mary Steenburgen has signed on to guest star in an episode of Wilfred, FX’s upcoming comedy starring Elijah Wood, EW has learned exclusively. The Oscar-winning Steenburgen (Melvin and Howard) will play Catherine, the mother of Ryan (Wood), a struggling dude who forms a unique relationship with his neighbor’s canine pet: He sees him as a man in a dog suit. Chris Klein, Ed Helms, Rashida Jones, and Jane Kaczmarek will also guest on the series, which debuts in June and is based on the Australian series of the same name.

So excited for this show. It looks hilarious. Maybe they could get Danie Radcliffe to guest star as Elijah Wood’s brother.

      Great casting idea!
Looking forward to seeing this show this summer. Hope it’s as good as Louie, which will be back for its second season this summer.

Daniel is really good with comedy, I’ve just seen him in the musical How to succeed and he is hilarious. But he’s going to be on Broadway all year so I don’t think it’d be possible…

I love everyone attatched to this project, but the concept sounds iffy at best. Seems a bit like a one-joke concept comedy, which is rarely ever good.

Maybe, but I’m always excited for shows that take risks with an offbeat concept. There is not nearly enough quirk on TV these days. I think this show looks pretty good. At least it’s not your standard cop/law/medical drama or group-of-friends comedy.

The Australian one is funny as. It is just whether America can pull it off well.

The acting talent looks strong in this project. I’ll give a quirky comedy a chance. It’s long overdue time for some unique programming!

This looks like it could be the comedy find of the season. The ads have been exceptionally non spoilery and have been hilarious. Glad to see a network willing to give a non-relationship comedy a chance.

If the ads for it have are indication, this could be really good. I absolutely love the fact that the dog has an accent.

Oh GOD! I do not want to know how the US are going to butcher this Australian comedy a la Kath & Kim!
I know i’ll cop a lot of crap for this but it’s true. Yanks don’t get Aussie humour!
Cannot see Elijah Wood in the title role. Seriously, Youtube the original.

Anything with Chris Klein is doomed to fail

Let’s hope they keep it as raw and hilarious as the original Aussie show – I’ll give it a chance but it has big paws to fill.

I read a review from an online journalist who saw the full pilot and they thought it was fantastic! Hilarious, smart, vulgar, heartfelt… highly entertaining. This just solidifies my thoughts and hopes this will be a wonderful and unique show for American audiences.
