NBC to air 'The Voice' preview Thursday

Tags: , News

To boost viewer interest in its upcoming singing competition The Voice, NBC is going to air a 12-minute preview of the reality show on Thursday night.

The preview will air in the place of the opening of The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, pushing the talk-show opening to 11:48 p.m.

This is roughly the same preview critics saw last week at NBC’s summer press event that received generally positive reactions in the room. It also features “coaches” Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Adam Levine, and Blake Shelton joining together for a song at the top of the clip.

I bet those stupid Republicans will protest

I have a feeling that Pia Toscano is on Dancing With The Stars tuesday night to ruin the show The Voice. That plan won’t work. Too many Pia articles. Paul McDonald is more popular than Pia. This website ignored Paul’s elimination but his music is already number 12 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart.

      • yep

That is exactly why DWTS asked her to sing on their show Tuesday.

      • sounds good

I don’t watch dancing with the stars so I will watch The Voice. And it’s on Tuesdays so I can still watch American Idol too. It sounds very interesting. There is no voting, the coaches choose which singers advance.

        Can’t they do a crossover?
“Dancing on the Stars Voices” would be must-watch TV.
The singers could lie on the floor and trip the dancers with their necks.
25 knee, ankle, throat and voicebox injuries later TV executives at BOTH networks could start thinking about putting something on that was NOT pure S#!t.

I love him and LatinoMatch.net was amazing

I wonder if it will do good in the ratings! We have American Idol on Wednesday/Thursdays…. Will The Voice be able to attract a different audience? Or maybe the same audience?

    • Templar

I’ll give The Voice a chance just on the strength of the fact that I love the judges.

      • sounds good

The voice is only going to be on Tuesdays. There is no voting, the coaches choose which singers advance. I think people will definitely watch The Voice and American Idol. I know I am going to.

    • Whatever

I quit watching American Idol and I made that decision when Simon left the show and they chose ridiculous replacements. I am all about “The Voice” now. I will tune in every time!!!

Feels like we’ve already seen a preview of this show…I’d venture to saw they won’t show much more than they already have.

  • Ghost of Pia

    Will Pia be on?

    • Templar

      Hope not.

      Welcome to 1995.

I think that The Voice came too late in light of the strong talent of rival Fox show American Idol this year. See Mark Burnett is very anti-Idol; in his mind he wanted to put it out when Simon Cowell was still on Idol. I think it will have its own audience but not strong enough to overtake Idol. But Voice and American Idol competing on Wednesday night? That’s going to be a logistic scheduling mess, people switching channels to see the other talent show–hope they’re not on at the same time. Or do you know why they created Voice? To get the auditioners that were tired of being rejected 4 or 5 times on Idol, so they go on rival show Voice. It’s that same pool both shows are attracting.

    Will Leno whine?

I was going to have to pitch a holy fit if this cut Parks and Rec. Haha! I have seen plenty (way too many) commercials for The Voice. It doesn’t look any better or worse than American Idol. All I can think about when I see the ads is that Christina Aguilera needs to hire a better stylist, she’s stuffed into that black dress like a sausage. She’s not fat but the way they dress her makes her look huge when she’s sitting down.

    • Petrie

That was my concern to, luckily that isn’t happening. NBC has already made me hate The Voice by putting HUGE banners for this show on the bottom of the screen.

  • Fighter

I’m so excited for this show! Can’t wait to see X-Tina every week.

  • PN

At least we’re not waiting those long 6 days for the show until Tuesday Apr. 26th. I wish that NBC should have show a 30-minute preview and replace one of the weaker comedies on Thursday to show it. 12 minutes ISN’T enough. I think Mark Burnett just didn’t like the bickering of the judges on Idol, so he has the judges on Voice not seeing the singers performing in front of them, having their backs turned.

I’m pretty excited for this show. I’m not usually into shows like this, but the concept looks pretty interesting and I’m looking forward to seeing Christina on T.V. every week.

    • Whatever

      I’M EXCITED, TOO

  • Jeremy

…then to be cancelled on friday.

    • Zakry

      not.

  • Memo

I’ll watch just cause X-Tina is in it.

  • erin

I usually abhor all reality shows, including the insufferable American Idol, but this show actually intrigues me.

  • rens

I wonder how they will shape it into an america version. in the Netherlands it was a success because it does not seem like idol. blind audition, battle round, and the public have the last word. it better than the old shows. just watch it. you’ll love it!
