Here’s some sssssmokin’ casting news: Jim Carrey will pop up in the season finale of The Office, EW has learned.

Carrey will guest star as someone who interviews for the management post that is being vacated by Michael Scott (the departing Steve Carell)—and seemingly handed over to Deangelo Vickers (Will Ferrell).

Carrey won’t be the only celebrity vying for the job; Ricky Gervais, Will Arnett, James Spader, Ray Romano, and Catherine Tate also play potential replacements in the hourlong episode, which airs May 19. An NBC spokesperson would not comment.

WOW you never see this much star power in movies let alone TV shows.

    • Jenn

      Really kyle???
Ricky Gervais, Will Arnett, James Spader, Ray Romano, and Catherine Tate…
      It’s the Down’s Syndrome version of Ocean’s 11.

      • Rose

NO. Catherine Tate is a godess.

Look at my face? Is it bothered? Does it look bothered to you? Office, Carrey, bothered? NO. Are you calling my Mom a low-class secretary? Are you calling my father a stupid paperboy? But he ain’t even a paperboy. But he aint even a paper boy. FACE? BOTHERED? NO!!!

      • Jack

Catherine Tate’s awful. It’s a little ironic that the Queen of catchphrase comedy (faint praise indeed) is appearing on the Office, a show that was originally conceived as the antithesis of that genre.

      • Feather

Really Jenn? Even using any kind of comparison to Down’s Syndrome shows extreme childishness on your part and is really pretty jerky.

      • Umm…..Rose….

You might need to marry me.

      • sadie

Ha! The office USA created as the antithesis of catchphrase genre? “That’s what she said” ring a bell??

      • maggie

        @Rose,
you are right, Catherine Tate is a goddess!
        Long live The Doctor/Donna!

      • Victoria

This will be epic and MonogamyDate was amazing

  • Ian

I’m guessing they’ll each be on extremely briefly.

Actually, it’s too bad they’re spoiling the guest stars. It would’ve been better to keep them all a surprise. Especially since I’m guessing they’re going to be essentially blink-and-miss type deals.

    • funchingo

Better that they do spoil the guest stars, because now we’ll know who to look for since it probably will be blink or miss.

      • Jenn

        funchingo = simpleton

    • C.

I’m with Ian. I really wish that we could watch a show organically without knowing all the latest in depth casting scoops. How much more fun could the finale be if we DIDN’T know to expect Jim Carrey, Ricky Gervais, Ray Romano, Will Arnett and so on? The pure joy and giddy anticipation of the unexpected is completely lost. Unfortunately.

      • Sanderson

So totally agree! Why why why do they put out this information — it would have been great as a surprise.

      • Julie Anderton

Well, that’s the world we now live in, folks. Thanks a lot, internet.

      • Jennifer

Uh…they need to get the word out so that people who don’t watch the show tune in to see the “stars.” It’s called promoting the product.

  • whatevs

Jim Carrey is the exact opposite kind of humor portrayed on The Office.

    • m

      yeah he’s funny

      • Charlie

Not funny post 5 years ago, very funny post now.

    • A

Not every role that Jim Carrey has done has been a Dumb and Dumber or Ace Ventura type. He’s a good actor and very versatile.

      • anon

        Agreed.

      • whatevs

Sure, but I was talking about purely comedic roles. Of course I’m not talking about Eternal Sunshine or The Majestic, etc.

      • kh

@A, took the words right outta my mouth, which is actually unsanitary.

  • Zachary

Wow that’s awesome! Although I think it would have been cooler if ya didn’t post an article about it. Ya know, maybe it would have been a nice surprise to see it with out knowing

  • TC

If only Dave Chapelle could be on that list of guest stars…that would make my life.

    • Jenn

      Nice life.

      • Mallrat

Well it’s no life like heckling peoples comments, isn’t that right Jenn?

    • ThisIstheEnd

Dave Chappelle on The Office; that would make me watch again.

    • Bob

Dave, who? Only reason anyone still knows he exists is because Comedy Central won’t stop showing 10-year-old repeats of the show he walked away from.

      • HUh

The only reason people know that Dave Chappelle exists is because he FUNNY. Real comedy is timeless. Doesn’t matter if the last time he was on TV was “10 years ago” and BTW the show ended in 2006 so by my calculations that was 5 years ago. Come back Dave!!! Comedy needs you and people like Bob need you to show them what REAL comedy looks like.

  • bob

    dave chapelle would be awesome

  • Shayan

Wouldn’t it of better. For these things to be kept in house, so they can blow our minds when it actually happens.

  • true story

The only time Jim Carrey is funny is when he’s talking out of his butt.

  • JaySin420

I can’t wait to see this! But hopefully they let these guys write their own jokes cause the Office writers have gotten pretty terrible the past few years.

  • Danny Mac

WOW!! It’s about time Jim Carrey started doing things like this. I am really really hoping he starts doing some movies where he teams up with other funny actors. I’m a huge fan of Jim and I really want to see him rise again as the king of slapstick comedy! Awesome news! I can’t wait to see what time of persona he portrays!

  • ggny

lol what star power? Jim Carrey fine…Ricky Gervias isnt as big as people think and the rest are relic of the past

  • Justin

Oh heck yeah! Love this selection.

  • Anthony

Hey ggny…ricky gervais is huge and this is his show. He is one of the hottest most popular comedians right now and he’s probably the funniest comedian out right now so yes ricky gervais has star power.

    • ggny

your retarded if you think Ricky Gervias has star power in the US..He is more of a cult figure if this was the UK sure he has star power…But in US he doesnt

      • bringbackrocky

Maybe you should learn to spell before you call someone else retarded. It’s “you’re”, not “your”. And you also misspelled Ricky Gervais. Spell check much?

      • teresa

Maybe neither one of you should say retarded.

      • whatevs

Well, teresa, maybe you shouldn’t either.

      • Mallrat

Don’t fight guys, you’re all retarded.

  • James

I always dreamed of Jim Carrey being the new boss on The Office. Now I guess I’ll have a small taste of it, lol.

  • Jason S.

IT does seem that they are keeping under their hat who the actual replacement will be!
