After he finishes holding court with the ladies on Survivor, Robert “Boston Rob” Mariano will turn his focus to the History Channel to co-host in his own reality show. Together with Dennis Anderson (creator of the monster truck Gravedigger) the duo will host the upcoming series Around the World in 80 Ways, a 10-part series that’ll bow later this year. Their goal: Circumnavigate the globe using 80 different modes of travel without repeating any vehicle.
“This series captures History’s commitment to highly compelling entertainment within a historical framework,” said Dirk Hoogstra, History’s senior VP of development, in a statement. “The dynamic between our two hosts will make for great television, while viewers can journey around the world with them to explore the ingenuity of travel in every era, throughout all stages of technological advances.”
Apparently, Mariano and Anderson will “employ every conceivable means of transportation – blimp and fighter jet, ostrich and canoe, chariot and hitchhiking” to complete their trip. Mariano is a four-time Survivor contestant and a two-time competitor, along with his wife Amber Brkich, on The Amazing Race. Besides Gravedigger, Anderson has appeared on America’s Toughest Jobs and Monster Jam.
Around the World in 80 Ways is from Original Prods.

No thanks. I turned off Survivor because of him.
I will watch this show.
Me too!
If you’re giving reality contestants a show, I think its the COWBOYS who would be AWESOME.
He’s why I watch. This new show sounds great, so long as he can be home enough for his precious “Am-buh”
Me too. Love Rob. He’s hilarious.
I am so sick of this dbag Boston Robb. What makes him such a travel authority? Blech
x2. dbag who needs to go away. I won’t be watching this.
WTF!? Is Boston Rob ever gonna stay home with his daughters?
Reality TV is their bread & butter, so Rob is making sacrifices instead of going out to get a regular job.
ummm, right.
Bitter much?????
No, that isn’t his bread and butter. His bread and butter was construction. He chose reality TV to make big money so his supposed sacrifices are his own choice.
I just want to note the absurdity of the comment ‘Reality TV is their bread & butter’. The idea that reality TV is now a career choice should be proof that this genre should no longer be called ‘reality TV’.
I think Janelle was being IRONIC.
@Dominic
Fantastic post!! Reality TV has stopped having Reality TV years ago.
having = being.
Oy
Icon, I was thinking the EXACT same thing.
One word: barf.
Love, love, love me some Boston Rob. Hope he wins this round of Survivor. He is the only one that deserves it this season.
Love him!
Agreed. Even without Rob in it this show sounds kind of awesome.
totally will watch Rob in another show.
you love him?? That makes you rather pathetic. just so you know.
Then sign me up for being pathetic. hooray for B. Rob!
What makes him more qualified than any other guy on the street? Bad enough I saw a promo for L&O:LA with Khloe Kardashian on it.
Good for him. I was disappointed his gameshow for $10 mil never materialized (Tontine or something?).
I am thrilled with this development and can hardly wait. Boston Rob is perfect for this. The nay sayers are a bunch of arm chair nitwits. He is gold to any network!
I agree, BR is awesome. He is fun to watch and doesn’t take himself too serioulsy. A show about travel will be a good fit for him after The Amazing Race. And he is handy so if there is any sort of building involved for some of the vehicles he’ll be good at that too.
You must work for BR.
Name calling shows your maturity. That’s the problem with this country, if someone doesn’t agree with us we resort to name calling instead.
Well, I will absolutely be tuning in. The concept of the show sounds great… and I am actually a fan of BR. People can say they are “annoyed” with him all they want, but the guy is pretty hilarious in his confessionals.
Gross.
Boston Rob is awesome! Count me in!
I’d love to see Boston Rob on Big Brother!
and he’s probably do it. He clearly has no problem being away from his wife and young daughters for months on end.
Months on end??? He’s on survivor for 39 days max plus probably a week before and after maybe for pre and post taping stuff – how is that months on end. Beside the fact that if he won Survivor he would then be able to afford to stay home with them for “months on end” without worrying about working 9-5… sounds good to me!

boston rob is my favorite survivor, along with JT, but for some reason this season, he’s become a bit of a turn off.
What is happening with the History Channel?
The history channel has turned into crap. The quasi-reality shows currently shown have made the channel un-watchable by anyone with I.Q. above that of a carrot.
Then I guess you must love watching the History Channel now!
I thought I read that Colby hosts a show on the History Channel, too.
Colby does. It’s called Top Shot. People compete (in teams & individually) against each other in challenges involving shooting skills–various guns. It’s very cool.
I understand why BR had rubbed some people the wrong way this Survivor season. If he had better competitors to play against it wouldn’t be so one-sided. But as it is, BR is right: he’s playing with a bunch of dimwits.
I’d like to see his History channel show. HC is a class act. Nice to see them branching out a bit.
Colby is a class act and rob is an azz
