“I had no idea it would blow up like this, I do regret it,” film student Nicole Crowther told a Los Angeles Times blog on Monday. Crowther was referring to the outrage that swept the Gleekosphere after she spoiled the identities of McKinley High’s prom king and queen via Twitter. Her tweet drew the ire of Glee fans as well as series co-creator Brad Falchuk, who chastised Crowther on his own Twitter by writing, “hope you’re qualified to do something besides work in entertainment.” In her defense, Crowther told the Times that though she’s appeared in several episodes of Glee as an extra, she was not even on set when the prom scene was filmed. Instead, she claimed that she heard the spoiler from another extra — and that she had no idea it was true until Falchuk responded to her message with angry tweets. As a result of the incident, Crowther was told that she’d never work on another Fox program again; she’s also been suspended from her extra casting agencies for two to three weeks.

I never even heard of this until reading this article/after the backlash. Was the info out on mainstream sites after she tweeted/before Falchuk commented? I feel kind of bad for the girl, it’s not like Nicole was doing it with bad intentions. Seems like Falchuk and some crazed fans are going nuts with it

Focusing on Born this Way, as well as last week’s episode where Santana overheard Kurt and Blaine talking to Karovsky, made it pretty obvious that the truth would come out in one way or another in the next episode.

She broke the rules. she’s lucky that she wasn’t dropped by the casting office altogether. Course she’s probably not going to get as many jobs even if she switches offices now that everyone knows her name.

Anyone working on a show, extras included, signs confidentiality forms expressly forbidding devulging such information to the public.
Nope. Not true. You sign nothing. You show up and get ignored by everyone for hours, sign your paysheet and go home.
Not true. I worked as an extra and signed a confidentiality agreement.
Obviously, Flip, some shows/movies have confidentiality agreements and some do not.
But even if Glee did, I doubt it would cover episodes on which she did not work, which is the case here. Since she was not an extra on that episode, she was nothing more than a fan repeating a rumor.

I agree that people overreacted, but at the same time, part of her job includes not sharing the details of episodes she’s filmed. So she screwed up at her job, and now there are consequences. Happens to every person at every company at some point in their life!
It actually was not part of her job. That’s the whole point–she didn’t sign any NDA.
Regardless of a written contract there is a code of conduct in the industry and as a film student who apparently intends to work in said industry, she should know that you don’t leak stuff. Particularly if you saw it yourself or heard it from someone in a position to be telling actual fact. Unless you are told yes you can tell that. All those actors like RPattz that do interviews are given clearance to answer pre vetted questions and the answers they can give. Anything else is ‘no comment’

Did you read the article above? She was NOT hired for that episode. So she was not an employee and therefore was nothing more than a fan who heard a rumor and tweeted it. TPTB are using the fact that she had previously worked on the show for revenge because their petty little prima donnas who need to be taken down a peg and smacked with the stupid stick because no one would have known her tweets were true if not for them.
She wasn’t on set THAT DAY. Doesn’t mean she wasn’t in the episode. Glee episodes are filmed over the course of a week, sometimes three (depending on quality of film – sometimes reshoots need to be done, and depending on intensity of musical numbers.)
I am assuming that anybody who comes into contact with a big show like Glee has to sign a confidentiality agreement. Breaking that contract should result in discipline, up to and including termination. I feel bad for Nicole, but she should have known that this would have created some backlash.
On the other hand, Brad handled this poorly, too.
I’ve been an extra on glee, I never signed a confidentiality agreement. Just did my I9s and my pay sheet.
Granted, I was only there one day, and the scene I was in may not have been a major spoiler, so I don’t know what SOP is there, usually. Though, if this girl wasn’t even on set for the spoiler, then, even if someone there had signed confidentiality, it wouldn’t apply to her, I should think.
Funny thing is that right below that Tweet from Falchuk, he reveals multiple big story arcs for the final episodes of the season.
Glee writers and cast have been notorious for hinting or spoiling storylines (remember Chris Colfer admitting Kurt was going back to the New Directions?).
And no one ever complains. Why–Glee is not “Lost.” The storylines are not meant to be surprising and have little to do with the overall appeal and value of the show.
So what if he does. If he’s a producer than he has the right and power to tell whatever he wants. He controls the show.
His rules are not the same as everyone else.
The real travesty here is that there are people who follow a Glee extra on Twitter.

I love that the “co-creator” of one show on FOX thinks he has the authority to ban the girl from ever being in another FOX program. It just goes to show that both he and Ryan Murphy really are full of themselves and think they are in charge of everything and everyone at FOX.
Thing is, they probably do have that power.
Very few people associated with FOX are going to side with an extra who reveals plot secrets over the powerhouse writer/creators of the flagship show.
It’s sad that Glee is Fox’s flagship show. They have much better programs that should get much more attention.
Totally agree. It’s things like this (also the lame storytelling of late) that’s making me really dislike Glee now. The writers/directors all seem to lack any class and seem completely full of themselves. For a show that is so anti-bullying and preaches respect and tolerance for all….Falchuk really should watch his own show, it seems.
