Jennifer Lopez spills details on her ambitious new music competition series

Jennifer Lopez, Simon Fuller and Marc Anthony officially announced the details of their Latin music competition series that EW exclusively reported last week.

Tweaking the name to Q’Viva! The Choice, the show seeks out the best Latin America music performers “from remote villages to major cities.” (Truly, if you know how to sing, no matter where you are, a reality show is going to find you!). The ambitious project will be shot in three languages and “broadcast simultaneously across 21 countries.” BlackBerry has signed on to sponsor the show.

Of course, anybody can announce a TV series; it’s not real until there’s a network on board. Sources tell EW the Q’Viva! team already has a couple foreign distributors, but still needs to find a domestic partner.

“This is a show for the 21st century with an unprecedented global and local story,” Lopez said in a statement. “The Latin culture is a tapestry that is rich in passion, tradition and artistry. We are going to places where all of this talent lives and wouldn’t have otherwise been discovered. This journey for me and Marc is going be exciting and groundbreaking.”

Since we will have our own show now, does that mean that we are not going to be part of the more mainstream Idol program or are non-latins going to be allowed on this program as well?

    No mas.

  • Not Totally On Board …Yet.

Still a bit confused. Now is this a “world wide” competition or stictly Latin American? And is it Pop music or any type of traditional Latin music (ie Tejano, Salsa, Latin hip-hop, etc…). Include these ganres and you may have a hot show.

It should be on Univision or Telemundo with a sindication on the CW on Saturdays, the only problem is that JLo doesn’t speak Spanish, she may understand but can’t speak. Bet the 3 languages are going to be Portugues, Spanish and English. So that means they will be in Brazil! Bring on the hotties!

Guess Im the only one who has gotten so sick of these singing reality shows…..We keep watching even though they dont produce real stars. Go to your local bar mitzvah party and youll see agreat singer with the voice and the x factor who can be your idol
