'American Idol': Stefano Langone's final performance -- VIDEO

So that’s it: Last night marked “The End of the Road” for poor Stefano Langone, the season 10 wildcard whose charm and ambition helped him outlast the likes of Pia Toscano and Paul McDonald. But he sure showed just why he had made it as far as the Top 7 Thursday night with his exit performance of Stevie Wonder’s “Lately.” (A much better choice than Wednesday night’s “Closer.”) Pulling out all the vocal stops, Stefano truly went out with a bang — and a heartfelt, touching embrace from Idol BFF James Durbin. Watch his finale performance embedded after the jump. We all knew his ouster was bound to happen soon, but still, will you miss Stefano? READ FULL STORY »

Someone grab the Roommate Agreement! I’m not sure the following news is allowed…

Just before the fourth season closes off for the Big Bang gang, expect a twist with exciting possibilities: Sheldon Cooper is getting a new roommate.

As teased in the new issue of EW, everyone favorite creature of habit is parting ways with his longtime roomie, Leonard.

“You have a situation where Priya is staying with her brother, and Leonard is spending time with Pryia,” executive producer Billy Prady says. “The current sleeping arrangement isn’t the best one. I think a little experimentation with people in different spots [is necessary].”

Alex Kingston is best known for her lengthy stint playing Dr. Elizabeth Corday on ER. At least, that’s what she assumed until recently. “In America, people come up and to me and I keep thinking they’re going to say, ‘Oh, I loved you on ER,’” says Kingston. “Now it’s ‘Oh, I love you on Doctor Who.’ I thought BBC America was only watched by Brits. What I’m starting to realize is that a lot of Americans are tuning in now.”

Doctor Who fans of all nationalities will be glued to the TV this Saturday night when BBC America debuts the latest season of cult sci-fi show, in which Kingston has a recurring role as the mysterious River Song. The actress talked with EW about the returning show, why it should be compulsory viewing for children, and whether she’d ever pose naked with a Dalek: READ FULL STORY »

Late Night with Jimmy Fallon has been renewed for a third season.

Fallon was quietly re-signed earlier this year with a deal that extends his gig on the late-night series through early 2012. (Fallon’s pickups are “off cycle” since he took over the show midseason in 2009.)

The move keeps NBC’s ratings-topping late-night lineup intact for next season: The network recently renewed Last Call with Carson Daly, while Jay Leno will continue on The Tonight Show.

Fallon grew his ratings 16 percent this year to average 1.8 million viewers, while holding steady with a 0.6 in the adult demo. Plus, he’s widened his lead in both measures over rival CBS’ The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. And Fallon’s hosting of the Emmy Awards back in August delivered the show’s biggest viewership since 2006 — who can forget that Glee-inspired cold open: READ FULL STORY »

Having done more than her share to keep the American Idol judging panel lively this season, Jennifer Lopez has set her sights on launching her own reality show.

Lopez is teaming with Idol producer Simon Fuller and his XIX Entertainment to shop a new project to broadcast networks. The series would have Lopez and her husband Marc Antony touring Latin America and searching for the best undiscovered musical talent. The working title: Que Viva.

Since the show is looking for a network home, the project is considered in early stages of development. Still, trying to launch her own competition show raises a question: Does Lopez plan to stay on Idol? READ FULL STORY »

'American Idol': Exec producer says voting won't change... this season

After Pia Toscano’s surprising early exit and the almost-ouster of Casey Abrams from American Idol, questions have swirled about the singing competition’s voting process and what — if anything — should be done to fix it. The show’s executive producer Nigel Lythgoe said in a recent interview that the voting process could be changing, and earlier today, fellow American Idol executive producer Ken Warwick confirmed that the minds behind Idol will be evaluating the voting system.

“We’re going to have discussions about it,” Warwick said in an interview with journalists from around the country. “Maybe we’ll change the voting system slightly next year. Maybe we’ll limit the number of SMS votes or online votes, but it will remain the same this year.” And that’s worth noting: Warwick kept reiterating that no voting changes — some have suggested that the show should adopt So You Think You Can Dance‘s tactic of letting the judges choose who goes home from a bottom three, as voted by America — will be implemented this year. Warwick did address the judge-centric voting, specifically. “I wouldn’t put too much faith in anything,” he said. “That’s just one of the solutions or ideas on the table. There are a number. We won’t be putting anything into practice — well, I’m pretty sure we won’t — until next year.”

Warwick spoke on a variety of other topics about American Idol, including the judges liking everyone on the show this year, whether he’s fearful about The X-Factor‘s premiere this fall, and advice he’d have for Pia. Keep reading for all the details from Warwick:

Ish is about to hit the fan, Hill fans, and trust me when I say you want to be around to see it happen.

Back in March, before One Tree Hill took a six-week break, from which it returned last night, we found out that Professor Kellerman’s young son — and now Nathan’s young star talent — was involved in the crash that nearly claimed the life of Nathan’s son. And even though last night’s ep focused on a lot of baby drama, Nathan’s work has only begun.

“I think Nathan’s gotten himself into something here,” says Lafferty. “I think he feels like he has to do some detective work. Whether or not he should be taking it upon himself remains to be seen. He definitely is going to pursue the truth, and I think it’s possible he will bite off more than he can chew.”

And a warning to the Kellermans… and anyone else involved: Nathan’s ready for a fight. READ FULL STORY »

This is roughly the same preview critics saw last week at NBC’s summer press event that received generally positive reactions in the room. It also features “coaches” Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Adam Levine, and Blake Shelton joining together for a song at the top of the clip.
