Hey, maybe this could help its chances for a fall pickup: the Brothers & Sisters finale earned a 2.0 rating/5 share in adults 18-49 on Sunday, up 25% from the previous week, according to fast nationals. (It averaged 7.1 million viewers). That’s the drama’s best performance in two months. ABC still hasn’t decided whether to bring the family series back for another season, but this could improve its chances. Stay tuned.

Season finales for The Amazing Race and CSI: Miami weren’t as impressive. The Race ender earned a  2.5/7 and 8.9 million viewers, down 4% to its lowest-rated finale ever, while CSI: Miami (2.0/5, 9.6 million) also posted one of its lowest-rated episodes ever. A visit from President Obama, however, lifted 60 Minutes: The newsmagazine earned a 2.3/8, up 53% from last week and 13.7 million viewers. Nice.

On NBC, Celebrity Apprentice earned a 2.4/7 and 7 million viewers, down 23%. That was its lowest-rated episode this spring.

Overall, CBS won the night in viewers (10.3 million) and 18-49 (2.3/7).

Hey ABC, if you have to cancel B&S, put Detroit 187 in its time slot. You put it there for its season finale and it scored pretty well. The fact that Body of Proof is doing well on Tue @ 10pm, gives Detroit little chance of returning there.

How ironic if BofP goes to Sundays at 10 since this is really a better compatible show to DH.

    • Tania

Detroit 187 did horribly in that slot in its finale! It had dreadful ratings. Anyway, it’s going in the crapper.

    • Ed

Brothers and Sisters is a better companion w/ DH for they are both family soaps. BofP is a crime procedural , so it should be better w/ Castle.

  • Kate

I was a little annoyed to have to watch two hours of Amazing Race and started flipping a lot. I had set up my Sundays nights pretty well and was kind of resentful.

    • RK

What? You were annoyed that you had to watch back-to-back episodes?

    • Lee

@Kate: You didn’t much. That was probably the most disappointing Amazing Race finale I have ever seen. It basically came down to the luck of what taxi driver you got that determined who would win the finale! What kind of finale is that?!! Especially when the winners (I believe) never won a leg prior to the finish line!!! Again–you didn’t miss much, and I can see why the ratings were down for TAR’s finale.

      • whowho

you dont like them because they’re black

      • Zach

That always happens with the cabs, and I’m never happy about it. I’ll say that at least the two-hour finale gave them the opportunity to make the final leg a lot longer, with a lot more tasks. So at least it was more competitive at the end than it usually is! Again the cab thing happens every year.

      • kitty

Whowho….I am sick & tired of hearing & reading about how a person doesn’t like blacks because they won or whatever other thing happens to them. I’m sure blacks say that they don’t like a person because they are white!! That’s racist!! Blacks use their race to get sympathy & to get where they want. I’m so sick of it! I hated the sisters on A Race not because they were black, but because they were cheaters & they were mean & nasty. They used others to win & were mean to my favorite team, the Cowboys.

      • whowho

kitty. I can tell by you comments that have some resentment towards Blacks. Yes, two Black females won but you shouldnt judge by their race. Calling them “nasty” just shows how racist you are. You dont know all they have endured in order to win. They had to be 100XX better than Whites.

      • Luigi

Those nasty sisters should have lost, and the Globetrotters should have won.

  • Michael

Sad! I really hope Brothers and Sisters isn’t cancelled! That was an excellent finale!

    • Zoe

But if it is, what a great note to end on. No cliffhanger, everyone is generally happy, with nice voiceover from Sally Field. I have to laugh, though, at how the (horrible) Ryan storyline has been completely and utterly forgotten–both by the Walkers as well as the B&S writers!

      • Mike

Thankfully someone remembers poor Ryan. They undid the whole Rebecca as a Walker so she could date Justin (and in the process, become completely expendable) and for a character that they wrote off the show within a year of introducing.

      • nykolus

i got a finale vibe from nora’s voice over, but i hope not.

      • Bueno

I am very happy Ryan is long forgotten. He was an irritating plot device that never worked or was believable.

      • Michael

O my gosh, yeah, good riddance Ryan! Thank God that storyline is dead and buried… it/Ryan was the WORST!

      • joebatch

Zoe,I was going to reply to Michael but you took every word i was going to say.You are right unlike some shows that know they are on the bubble and might not be renewed they end the season with a cliff hanger and nothing resolved for the for fans which i think is unfair to us.If this was the last show it ended on a high note and with class all the way.

  • Meli

I watched B&S last night BECAUSE it was presenting itself as the final show. Otherwise I don’t think I would’ve watched it. BTW, it was a nice episode to end on, please take note of that, ABC and show producers.

  • LIVEITUP

I enjoyed B&S last night. I am guilty of not watching a lot this season, but it was a pretty good season finale.

  • Andrew

I wonder why “Amazing Rcae” had low ratings. This season was better than the season that aired in the spring 2010 season (season 16). That season had many unlikeable teams, but I liked most of the teams from this one.

  • Birdnighter

I really hope Brothers & Sisters returns for another season.. even if it’s a short one…I look forward to seeing the family dynamics.. Haven’t missed an epi yet.

    • ET

I especially want to see what happens with Kitty’s pregnancy. Nora’s narrative at the end sounded like they were wrapping things up just in case they don’t come back in the fall, which made me very sad.

  • jfms777

Would hope that CBS cancels “Miami” but they probably will not. Hope CBS does NOT cancel “CSI:NY” because that
is the better of the 2 shows. It would be good for “B&S to wrap now.

    • tp

I agree. I think CBS will cancel NY…but it’s a way better show than Miami. It’s obvious no one cares about Miami anymore. Those finale ratings are horrible.

  • QJ201

Could we please join the 21st century and remind your readers (and TV execs) that final ratings aren’t available for a week after DVR viewings have been added in.

I watched the Borgias last night and DVR’d B&S!

    • Luigi

      DVR viewers stink!

  • tom hunter

Any news on how L&O:Criminal Intent is doing now that it has returned?????

That’s the only Sunday night show I watch currently.

    • Sue1

“The return of Vincent D’Onofrio & Kathryn Erbe to LAW & ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT for the shows 10th season delivered the show’s 2nd largest total viewer (5.10 million) audience since original episodes debuted on USA and its biggest P25-54 (2.04 million), P18-49 (1.88 million), and P18-34 (632,000) figures since the Season 8 premiere. The Season 10 premiere saw double digit gains over the Season 9 debut across the board. LAW & ORDER: CI was the top scripted telecast of the week among P25-54, total viewers, and households and the #1 drama for P18-49″.
      Good news.

  • Terry

I have watched this show since the beginning and have not missed and episode! This show has some really fine actors in it including Sally Fields, Rachel Griffiths and Giles Marini! Not to mention the great story lines! I hope ABC has second thoughts about pulling this show from the schedule as it is a classy show!

  • Cynthia

I recommand the V tratment for B&S. A 10 episode final season that would perfectly fit in the dancing with the stars results show slot on tuesday during the January-mid march hiatus

  • Zach

B&S sure seemed like a series finale to me! Especially loved the part where the dog ran over to snuggle next to Sally Field as her eye closed!

  • Tibo

I’m sure the B&S ratings were up from last week. Here, on the west coast, we didn’t see the show at all. Catching OBL bumped it and most of the prime time programming. (Which is great–if something’s going to bump your fav show, it should be the capture of OBL.)
Maybe the Amazing Race suffered from a similar problem. CBS interruped the west coast feed and we never saw the last part of the race or the goths coming in last.
I think a lot of viewers in this side of the country did not realize last night was the season finale.
    I love B&S. I hope it’s picked up.

  • Philip

BROTHERS AND SISTERS season finale did seem like the series finale — it ended on such a positive, upbeat tone – loved Beau Bridges’ performance as Sally’s high school love and father of Rachel Griffiths – so many loose ends were tied up Id be surprised if it returns – it has one of the best cast ever on prime time

    • Mia

And it kind of came full circle, didn’t it? The first ep was the loss of a father and this ep was the gaining of one.
