'The Office' scoop: The latest manager is... -- EXCLUSIVE

The new manager on NBC’s The Office, the person assuming taking Michael Scott’s chair for the final two episodes of this pivotal season is…. [spoiler alert from tonight's episode!] ….

Creed-Bratton

Creed Bratton!

Yup, mysterious, felonious Creed is finally getting a shot in the big seat.

The Office‘s chronically confused kleptomaniac gets the top job at Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton branch tonight, replacing Deangelo Vickers (Will Ferrell) who replaced Michael Scott (Steve Carell).

“I didn’t know I was getting it until the table read,” Bratton says. “I throw the office into chaos in ways only Creed can.”

Bratton will have the manager title for the final two episode of the season.

Who assumes the position next fall is still anybody’s guess, with Will Arnett, Jim Carrey, James Spader and original UK Office star Ricky Gervais among the finale’s guest stars contending for the post.

“I don’t have a clue who it will be, none of us do,” Bratton says. “We could go a few episodes with stop-gap replacements next season.”

    • Mr. Holloway

But if he’s the boss, when is he going to find time to work on “Creed’s Thoughts”?

    • joblo

After some really mediocre episodes this was, hands down, the funniest episode of the season! I was LOLing all over the place. *cough* *cough * *Jazz hands!*

      • Kevin

Hell yea! this episode reminded me of the office in its heyday and Creed is God

      • Catherine

Yes! It was finally the old office that we fell in love with – classic Jim and Dwight.

    • Color Me Impressed

      Yes!!!! This is awesome!

    • shoutycat

Worst manager ever! It’s gonna be awesome!

Creed should be the permanent manager. He’s criminally underused on this show.

    • me2

I completely agree about Creed being underused. I didn’t realize how long it had been since he’s been the focus of even 1 scene until I saw him climb into that chair. In the words of Kevin, it’s going to be epic!

    • Dave

But you run the risk of overusing him if it’s permanent, as he’s one of those people who is great in those small doses. Sounds good for the next two episodes though…

      • Lifeafterlost

Yes totally agreed. He’s like a comic relief, but inside of a comedy… you know what I mean. The way Tom Cruise’s Les Grossman was in Tropic Thunder. And people loved him as he was one of the funniest characters. But I’ve heard they’re making a feature length film just about him which, in my honest opinion, wasn’t the point of Les Grossman. Same goes for Creed: he so funny but putting him as the manager puts him in the limelight 24/7, and Creed is supposed to provide those hilarious interludes. Not carry a whole show. Who remembers Creeds Halloween costume 2008? Hahha “let’s put a smile on that face”

      • Shannon S.

I think the writers know that and will keep his scenes limited…if anything, it’d be a funny plotline if Creed’s the manager and doesn’t do anything and disappears all the time.

  • Mark

A stroke of pure genius. Absolutely inspired and it absolutely must go permanent.

  • Anona Muss

    Oh, too funny.

  • J

Yeah, too bad this was spoiled by none other than EW themselves. I subscribe to Entertainment Weekly magazine and received my magazine today. Lo and behold, there is was, in the magazine, talking about tonight’s episode in past tense announcing that Creed would be the new boss. I still watched the episode, still enjoyed it – but after months of being able to keep this secret, I didn’t get to enjoy it as much

    • Sophie

      That sucks! Still great episode!

  • Sarah R

I love this! Too bad it’s only for two episodes.

  • ThisIstheEnd

I stopped watching the show after the wedding, but I’ll tune in for these two just to see Creed in charge.

  • edogg

This is a terrible idea. It makes no sense why he would become manager. Yes, he’s not used enough, but if he’s used a lot, I have a feeling many people will not be able to tolerate him. They should have ended this show with “Goodbye, Michael”, which was one of the most moving farewell episodes I have ever seen.

    • me2

If you watched the episode, they went with Creed because Jo wanted the person with the most seniority. Also, the show did not end with “Goodbye, Michael.” It’s coming back next season, too, so if you wanted it to end with that episode, you should have stopped watching a couple of weeks ago.

  • michael Crosby

such a surprise, and such perfect potential for hilarity! when i saw him getting into that chair, i thought, duh, because i never considered it, but it opens up so much possible fun! great idea! someone is a genius.

    • Polly

I know, I never considered it either and it’s fantastic. But for the show to continue, I really think they need to bring in someone who holds the office together, like Micheal did. Or maybe Creed will be just fine? Can’t wait to see.

  • Mike O

This is genius. Keep Creed as permanent boss! Just don’t let Ashton Kutcher near the place!

    • jaymi

ITA about Creed and especially good one about AK!

  • googie

    yes!
