ABC series orders: 'Good Christian,' 'Pan Am,' 'The River'; 'Body of Proof' renewed

Kristen-Chenoweth

Next fall, ABC could look like a whole new network. Not only has the broadcaster just dumped Brothers & Sisters, V, No Ordinary Family, Detroit 1-8-7 and Off the Map, but its adding seven new drama titles.

They are: The Texas-set soap Good Christian Belles (previously titled Good Christian Bitches), the remake of the 1970s hit Charlie’s Angels, the fairy tale drama Once Upon A Time, the 1960s pilots-n-stewardesses drama Pan Am, the soap Revenge, Shonda Rhimes drama about political consultants Scandal, and the documentary-style thriller The River (that’s the one I’m looking forward to the most).

Good Christian Bitches Belles, whose cast includes Kristen Chenoweth, drew controversy when first announced from conservative groups. Though the new title will likely be considered an improvement from their perspective, the story’s grown-up-Mean Girls premise could end up giving the Disney-owned network a headache since the use of Christian” remains sarcastic.

Unfortunately… and readers of this blog knows how much this hurts… Poe is not getting picked up.

Also: Dana Delany and her Body of Proof drama will be back after being renewed.

    what about Poe?

    • James Hibberd

      Thanks for reminding me. Added.

      • João Amaral

        bah, that’s unfortunately.
        Thanks for telling us.

A better version of POE will pop up where it belongs — on CABLE Just watch. I read the script for this one and it was bad.

Why did you want Poe to be picked up? It sounded like a re-do of Murdoch Mysteries except without the justification of the protagonist being a real detective.

I understand that the original name (although awesome) could have been troublesome for ABC. However, Good Christian Belles is terrible.

    • Scott

So weak! ABC has real problems with show names. Why not just name it Good Christian Cougar Town instead?

  • Jenz

First of all, this needs to be editied. Second of all, I’m excited for Once Upon a Time. I know that fantasy is big for the upcoming fall, but with Ginnifer Goodwin and Jennifer Morrison this one has my attention.

    • Shama

OUAT was the one show I have been rooting for!

    • meliot

@Jenz – yeah, and your post needs to be “edited” too! If you’re going to be the grammar police, you better be correct yourself.

Good Christian Belles is a HORRIBLE title.

  • Kristina

    Yay for Kristin Chenoweth!

  • Soon to outnumber you

How could they cancel No Ordinary Family!!?? That was such a great show with a superb cast.

  • Evie

What? Poe’s cancelled? NO! I was SO looking forward to it :’(
    What about Tabrett?

  • Ross

I could care less what ABC adds. They cancelled my soaps for stupid reality shows. I’ve cancelled all ABC shows.

    • Grandma Nean

      Totally agree !

    • rebecca

i agree. They worked for 35 years, and stayed strong! It’s about time, people can come home from work, sit down and reminise on the times they sat with their parents watching an entire family grow, with PLOT, and true to life controversities. Distugusting AMC!

Does anybody know what the fate of the Ashley Judd pilot “Missing”? That was the one about the mother who searching for her son after he disappears in Italy.

  • Dave

Good Christian Belles does not get the point across of what the show is about. It’s a bad title.

  • Dave

ABC needs to stop shoving more of Shonda Rhimes’ garbage down our throats.

  • lexi

Good Christian Belles sounds like a Lifetime show, and what idiot thought putting Christian in the title would be funny or provocative, its just lame liberal BS. Someone should rename it CANCELLED cause that is what will happen.

  • MM

SO excited for Christina Ricci in Pan Am. I hope it’s a big hit. Sad about Brothers and Sisters and also looking forward to Good Christian Belles.
