Almost every season, there’s a shocking fourth place finisher on American Idol. And, last night, James Durbin was the contestant who joined the ranks of Tamyra Gray, Chris Daughtry, and LaToya London by finishing just short of Idol‘s hometown visits. But he still went out with a crowd pleaser — singing Paul McCartney’s “Maybe I’m Amazed,” season 10′s rocker amped up his audience interaction, even planting an adorable kiss on his fiancée. Just check his performance of this song (top 13) in Youtube, that’s the way he performs when not overwhelmed by emotions. HE really nailed that sond earlier – as the others as well!
i haven’t been watching AI this year but caught this guys performance and it was awful. i was shocked he got so far. i’m hoping his previous performances were much better. I actually clicked this article to see if it was about how terrible of a singer/screecher he was.
SERIOUSLY?? You don’t watch all season and you are going to judge him by his final performance done after having been told he is going home?! Most of the contestants are heartbroken and singing through tears and emotions in their final performance. Wow, way to kick a guy when he’s down!! You’re not very nice are you?

For the past 5 weeks all this moron did was ruin his chances by running around high fiving people in the audience and singing off-key. And the judges praised him for being awful. Simon would have ripped him a new one a month ago and forced him to show some humility. He never once bothered to change songs creatively. Good riddance to a terrible singer.
Skye- you, made your point. Over and over again. Can you be respectful of other people opinions? I like James sing, and I though he applied his touch to every song he sang. Obviously you have some issues, by posting this many times to tell all the people who like him that they are wrong. Get a life.

Yes James was an inspiration and knew how to work the stage. Alana is sweet but, not a performer. I just hope the judges did not influence the voting by coming down on Hailey. She screeches too much. I’m so saddened by his leaving but, I hope his revene is a bigger career. Not many idol finalists ride the top of the charts.

The only shocking thing is how this guy managed to make it this far — or even into the competition at all. He can barely stay in key, and tries to hide it behind shrieks and screeching and screams.

He deserves to be hated.He had his own 1 hour spcieal on his decision where he was going to go, without telling the Cavaliers beforehand.He now has a 60 second commercial asking people what he should do.If you ask me, he should man up, ignore all the “haters” and just play basketball. I think he’s just bringing more hate upon him by doing all of this.

How does James go from NEVER being in the bottom 3 to going home?? Makes no sense to me. He did great on Journey’s “Don’t stop believin’”. He’s got so much heart and passion. It’s not the end for James Durbin, it’s just the beginning.

Is it just me–or does Haley show litte emotion? about other contestants being eliminated-almost smug!!! P-L-E-E-Z-E. I recognize for the guys she is “eye candy” and does have talent but to me she is just so sure!!! She thinks she has this sewn up…do not rest on your laurels, dear Haley-lightning stikes when least expected. Her overall attitude speaks volumes to me–like okay, another down,two more to go… Have a great deal of difficulty with this-just one ole lady’s opinon for what is worth.(James has true talent and will go far).
