The woman behind the drama is stepping in the line of fire.
Cecily von Ziegesar, the author behind the Gossip Girl series, is making a cameo as herself in the season finale (airing tonight), and we have an exclusive look (below) at her scene with Blake Lively.

Gossipers, this collapse of the fourth wall is pretty amazing. I’ve never read the Gossip Girl books, but if they’re half as slutty as the TV show, they’ll but appearing on my personal summer reading list.
So are you excited for the finale tonight, readers?

You have to read the books! Just to see what a diaster they made Vanessa in the show when she was awesome in the books!
You have to read the books! I read them a couple of years before the TV show premiered. They’re worth reading just to see how they ruined they ruined the character of Vanessa in the show, when she was one of the best characters in the book.
Don’t waste your time reading the books. They’re even worse written than the third season of the show.
Man this show went to hell fast. The writers totally missed a wonderful opportunuiy with Dan & Blair.
Try a few of the books and see what you think. You’ll find that Blair, Serena, and Nate are pretty much the same, Dan is dorkier in the books (plus gay for a couple), and Jenny, Chuck, and Vanessa are unrecognizable.
They’re a VERY different animal from the show, but they’re very good. Alas, Von Ziegesar only wrote about the first six, and then a ghost writer took over. You can tell, too, because the style subtly shifts. They’re still good, fun stuff, though.
Chuck is bi in the books… Dan has long hair and I got the impression he was supposed to be goth… Vanessa is bald and an all around better character in the books… Jenny has huge boobs and her dating Nate is a very big storyline… Idk what else to add. Books are better imo
Remember Chuck at the beginning of the show?
“Don’t ask me what I had to do to get these clothes.”
Alluding to some bi action.
Might pick up the first book just to see the differences.
Vanessa’s character turned out like that because de actress was leaving the show.
