The producers of Locke & Key aren’t giving up without a fight. Though Fox passed on the buzzworthy pilot that’s based on a comic book by Joe Hill, sources say 20th Century Fox TV is talking to Syfy and The CW about picking up the project.
The latter seems less likely, since the fifth broadcast network tends to skew toward young female viewers and next season’s schedule is pretty locked in at this point. But the project is completely on brand for Syfy, if the economics could make the show work on basic cable. Don’t get your hopes up, though, fans: Making the leap from broadcast pilot to a cable network doesn’t happen very often, and Locke isn’t the only busted genre pilot to approach the cable network. But know there’s still attempts being made to get this on the air.

I hope SyFy picks it up. It’s an amazing comic book.
Awww when I saw the title of this show I thought it was a LOST spin-off about the karma-pursuing sideways-world adventures of Benjamin Linus and his spiritually sound, Man of Faith mentor John Locke. Oh well, wasted opportunity.
More like a bullet we dodged. We don’t need a LOST spin-off, and certainly not one as lame as that.
If SyFy were going to pick up a failed pilot, I would rather they pick up 17th Precinct, they’ve already got like half the BSG cast and they could call it a redo for how they treated the Dresden Files series they had a few years ago.
I just recently watch DVD set,and in my opinion,SciFi screw the fans by showing the episodes in a poor order. The best episode was #8 Stormfront, based on the novel, should been the first. Most of the SPX budget was spent on the episodes shown later, but were probably shot first.
Here, here!
If Syfy picks up anything, I’d rather it be V.
Agreed!
I was psyched for 17th Precinct, but it looks like it got muscled out by Grimmm. I’d like to see Locke & Key find a home.
Locke & Key is an amazing comic book, it’s really too bad Fox passed, it would translate to the screen really well.
It will be more interesting to see them try and pitch the Show to FX, Showtime or Starz (Theonly hit they have is Spartacus) the show will be free to have creative freedom on these netoworks.
SYFY would not be the place I would want my show to be they will cancel it. Like they did SGU.
Perhaps because it sucked and no one watched it! Fair play to Syfy for pulling the plug.
Disappointing to hear Fox passed on it. I would love for SyFy or another cable network to scoop it up. Let’s be honest…these past few years haven’t had a great rack record in reference to one of the big networks picking up a show based on a graphic novel or comic book. At least on cable, they might be more willing to let the series develop some.
love joe hill. Would have been wonderful on fox. They could have cancelled kitchen nightmares and put it on before Fringe.
Unfortunately, SyFy is stripping itself of all ties to SciFi, and that includes actual science fiction programming. “Eureka” will probably go after this next season, “Being Human” will stick around for a couple more to suck the blood of the current teenager/vampire craze and then be canceled when the Brits want to raise the fees they charge, (you really should check out the original British version of the show – it’s far better!) and will probably (hopefully!) stop making their “has-been-star-of-the-season Z-movies (with the whopping $140.00 special effects budgets)” in favor of yet another (un)Reality show or another hour of wrestling. NBC has really destroyed that channel!
Well, one good thing, anyway; at least we won’t have to suffer through another travesty like that miserable “reboot” of “Battlestar Galactica”. People should be shot for what they did to that show!
wish someone would pick this up and 17th precinct. Was really looking forward to both.
Somebody please pick up Locke & Key!!!! Such a great comic.
syfy pega LOCKE & KEY por favor o JESSE MCCARTNEY ta na serie ….por favor!!!
Uhh…someone better pick up this show! Freakin Mark Pellegrino (Supernatural, Lost, Being Human)is going to be in it! Hes such a good not well known actor…
