NBC announced its fall schedule this weekend and with it, a batch of trailers for the network’s new shows. Watch them below, along with additional clips, and vote in our poll to tell us what you think about these new kids on the NBC block.
Prime Suspect
Maria Bello, Kirk Acevedo, and Aidan Quinn star in this adaptation of the British miniseries. Wonder Woman didn’t make the cut, but at least this badass chick did.
The Playboy Club
Set in the 1960s, the drama takes a look at the lives of Playboy bunnies. It stars Amber Heard, David Krumholtz, and Eddie Cibrian.
Smash
Debra Messing, Katharine McPhee, Jack Davenport, and Anjelica Huston star in a show about a cross-section of characters who come together for the exhilarating thrill of putting on a Broadway musical. NBC would be gleeful if this was a hit.
Grimm
Dark but fantastical cop drama about a world in which characters inspired by Grimm’s Fairy Tales exist. It stars relative newbies David Giuntoli, Bitsie Tulloch, and Kate Burton.
Awake
Formerly titled REM, this procedural hybrid follows the simultaneous parallel lives of a detective who can not let go of any aspect of his fractured family after a horrible car accident.
The Firm
Based on the John Grisham book. (No trailer available.)
Whitney
This multi-camera sitcom, based on the comedy of Whitney Cummings, focuses on the ups and downs of a committed relationship in today’s complicated world. Also stars Chris D’Elia, Beverly D’Angelo.
Up All Night
Parenthood through the POV of an acerbic working mom (Christina Applegate). Parenthood – tears + giggles = ?
Free Agents
Hank Azaria stars in this single-cam workplace comedy based on a UK show about two quirky co-workers who are both on the rebound. The Office: Reloaded?
Are You There Vodka? It’s Me, Chelsea
Inspired by Handler’s best-selling memoir that will focus on the lives of a group of 20-somethings who live and work together with a very outspoken young woman.
Best Friends Forever
A comedy that takes a look at what happens when best friends promise to support each other — no matter what the cost or circumstances. (No trailer available.)
Bent
Amanda Peet stars in this single-camera comedy about a recently divorced Type-A single mom who tries hard not to fall for the sexy surfer dude contractor she hires to re-do her kitchen.

Awake and Grimm. The rest seem easily recyclable.
That’s exactly how I feel. Awake & Grimm look like the only two with potential. But then again, after The Vampire Diaries, I’ve learned never to judge any show from the pilot. TVD’s pilot was not the business, but now the show is one of the best written on television.
Yup – in for Grimm and Awake. Of course Grimm will be cancelled after 3 episodes and Awake after 6, but those are the only two new shows that interest me.
Is it strange that there doesn’t appear to be a single non-white face in any of these promos (Kirk Acevedo and B.D. Wong notwithstanding), or it is par for the course with network TV these days? It’s insulting, really.
What is Max from Happy Endings doing in the pilot for Best Friends Forever? I guess they’ll have to recast him seeing as Happy Endings was picked up… (and seriously, I know it sounds ridiculously stupid but it’s actually a good show!)
That’s what I thought too !
Awake looks good! Also liked Free Agents and Chelsea’s show. Up all night also looked good.
Almost all of these are forgettable, based on the clips. Awake was the only one that kept my interest the whole way through and Free Agents looks like it has potential. At least it made me laugh, unlike the rest of the ‘comedy’ ones.
I might give Free Agents a try if only for Anthony Stewart Head. Of course that makes me wonder about his fate in Merlin…..
Uther has to die sometime so Arthur can become king…
You should totally watch the original UK Channel 4 series from a couple of years back. Was amazingly fun and starred Stephen Mangan (Episodes) and Anthony Stewart Head playing the same character but infinitely more filthy than I guarantee he will be in this version!
Giles AND Buffy AND Willow will all be on my television. Woohoo!
Out of all of them the only one that caught my interest is Grimm. Unfortunately, it’s going to be on at the same time as Supernatural, so I might end up missing it.
Grimm was the only one that looked interesting to me too but I also watch Supernatural so I’ll be watching that live instead. I also worry that Grimm will turn out as a lesser version of Supernatural.
My friend David stars on Grimm and he’s an excellent actor. He has such charisma. I think the show will be a hit for him. Go David!
Hecks yeah. it does seem like a rip off of Supernatural, which is an awesome show. I dont like rip offs.
And in the same slot as Fringe… damnit.
I’ve decided to start watching a series once it hits 3rd year. Tired of shows being cancelled, not all because of viewership but because they never leave a show long enough in one time slot to gain loyalty and we get lost, we don’t know what day and time half of the shows are planning until it’s too late. Takes more than a few episodes to gain loyalty as we’ve seen so often in the past.
Smart. I should start doing that.
Those laugh tracks are so distracting. They sound old and so fake. Yuck.
Playboy Club, Awake, and Cheslea seems the only interesting ones to me
Sweet, another outlet for Chelsea Handler’s terrible “comedy”.
Eddie Cibrian listened to tapes of Jon Hamm talking for 43 straight weeks, right?
Definitely! Why is no one else noticing how much of a rip-off Cibrian’s performance looks to be? And he is certainly no Jon Hamm.
Why is NBC still introducing multi-camera comedies? Just because it still works for CBS doesn’t mean it works for NBC anymore.
I’m rooting for Up All Night. And I have a feeling that Prime Suspect will be the only drama to survive the whole year while Grimm might carve out a niche.
Apparantly, the “Smash” producers don’t know that there WAS a Marilyn Monroe musical which ran for just 17 performances in 1983. Hopefully, this show lasts a bit longer.
Awake looks really good, and I don’t know why but I was more excited about Grimm before I saw the trailer.
And I would be more interested in Prime Suspect if I hadn’t seen the original british version. It looks alright but to me Helen Mirren will always be Jane Tenyson.
