Olivia Munn has joined Aaron Sorkin’s HBO drama pilot, which centers on a fictional cable news network. A source close to the deal confirmed Munn’s involvement in the still-untitled series. Munn, who most recently starred on the canceled NBC sitcom Perfect Couples, already has some experience in the field of fake cable news, with a recurring role as a correspondent for The Daily Show.

    Nice!

  • lefty

Stop trying to make Olivia Munn happen; she’s not going to happen. (Same goes for Kyle Bornheimer)

    • fluffatu

I was JUST going to write the same thing! But can we add Blake Lively’s name into the ring?

      • Matt

You leave Blake Lively alone! And Leighton Meester, for good measure! They are very cute, and talented actresses; didn’t you see Blake in The Town? That was a great performance.

    • katie

Ugh, I completely agree. I don’t see the appeal of her?

I do find Kyle Bornheimer adorable though.

Munn is awful. She cannot act, is a terrible interviewer, has a grating bimbo personality, and is a 6/10 in looks on her best day.

      Hate her.

    • Jen E.

      Yup. She’s off-putting.

  • jacob

Why?? She is awful on The Daily Show and was horrible in the two episodes of Perfect Couples I watched. She must just get hired for her looks, though to be honest I don’t get all the fuss about those either.

  • magreeda

Well that marks this off my list. No thanks!

  • Steve

I don’t think her fan base will follow Olivia to this show. (Besides, we’ve moved on to the next geek goddess – Felicia Day!)

    • Ace

And Felicia is far superior! All hail Codex!

      • jacob

        Exactly. Felicia Day is amazing.

    • tvcon

They didn’t follow her to Perfect Couples.

  • pie thrower

Will she be jumping into some giant pies???? That’s the only way I’ll watch it.

  • Stella

I hope she will play an action heroine one day or at least have one little fight in a movie. Just let her kick a guy in the groin or something.

  • nunya

Arrgh…I thought I read an interview where she said Perfect Couples WASN’T officially cancelled. Now I’m bummed…

  • Rusty

Maybe she’ll have more luck with a drama, because she is not funny at all.

    • tvcon

This show is more of a Dramedy than actual drama

  • Steve

    Ugh. Pass.

  • bob

will check it out love aaron sorkin

  • Candace

Olivia Munn is witty, charming, and alarmingly beautiful. She’s had some odd choices as of late, i.e. ads for PETA and a burger chain, but I’m still a fan. She makes me laugh, and I’m sure that the haters would not spend so much time hating on her if she was less attractive.

    • Matt

You make a good point; I don’t really like her much, but I am confused by the amount of resentment levied at her. She is funny, and she is pretty; I don’t get why we have to hate her for that.

    • Garth

She wouldn’t have a CAREER if she was less attractive. She is the complete antithesis of funny, charming and talented.

      • Jay

You could say that about a lot of actors/actresses. When’s the last time Jessica Alba was in something good?

If she’s “just a pretty face and hot body”, then you could say that about almost everybody else in the business.

Aaron Sorkin doesn’t cast people that can’t act. If he wants someone, it’s because they can do the work. I trust his judgement more than anyone else’s.

  • buckly

sorkin and olivia munn go together like scotch and orange juice. they don’t.

    • Jon

      Are you kidding?
      .
A writer whose specialty is fast dialogue that leaves no room for emoting and an actress who can’t portray an authentic emotion to save her life?
      .
Sounds like a match made in Hollywood.

      • Janey

Obviously you’ve never seen any of his shows if you think his dialogue leaves no room for emoting.

      • Jon

Actually, I’ve seen a fair number of West Wing episodes, several of Sports night, and the entirety of Studio 60 as well as several of his movies.
        .
My point stands. I contend that the strong performances evident in his prior series were in spite of his dialogue. He writes wordy diatribes that can leave even good actors in the woods when it comes time to do anything with the scene.
        .
Moira Kelly is a good actor who couldnt do anything with what Sorkin gave her.
        .
Others who fall into that category: Sarah Paulson, Mark McKinney, Elisabeth Moss, and even William H. Macy.
        .
I’m not saying that his shows necessarily lack emotion, but his dialogue can impede it’s communication. When an info dump is needed, why waste a good or excellent actor on it when a less skilled (and probably cheaper) actor can do the trick?

  • Isaac

Yay, HBO = naked Olivia Munn. Who does not win in this situation?

  • Andy

She better get naked since it’s on HBO

    • tvcon

I’ve read the script, nobody is getting naked on this show

      • Blorp

Why did you have to say that? WHY?

      • Garth

I think it’s odd that HBO is simply shooting the same script for every episode of the series. Or maybe I misunderstood and you read the script for the entire series. Or every script for the series. Because somehow you know what’s NOT going to happen in the entire series… Weird…

    • Steve

Pre-boob job, I would have watched.

Post-boob job and makeover, I’ll pass.
