She may not be the most traditional choice, but she certainly is on brand for Fox: The network is in talks Glee co-star Jane Lynch to host this year’s Emmys, sources confirm.
If a deal is struck, the choice will help promote the hit musical comedy, but a little bit of Lynch tends to go a long way and one wonders if the fan favorite can hold up the stage for a three-hour show. What do you think?

This works if she does a bit with the New Main Street Singers.
She has been brilliant in other endeavors- Best in Show, Party Down, Mighty Wind- I have no doubt she will be amazing.
I think Jane can do a fantastic job!
PERFECT Emmy host this year.
I haven’t cared about the Emmys for a long time. As a fan of science-fiction, I feel the genre has been treated unfairly. I am amazed that X-Files star Gillian Anderson actually won an award, given how much the topic is snubbed. Fringe’s cast has been hitting it out of the ballpark all third season. I hope to see at least some nominations…
IDK, after Buffy a greater effort has been made to highlight those shows. B-Star, Lost, etc. have gotten recognition. Shows that don’t really push boundaries or show anything new (like the vast majority of stuff on SyFy) don’t really deserve recognition. And though Fringe may have done well this year, it began as a cookie-cutter Sci-Fi-Lite procedural. I don’t think its reasonable to think they should automatically get an emmy, after mediocre stuff years prior.
I hope this mean she won’t win the emmy for supporting actress which should go to Sofia Vergara.
While she’s clearly awesome, I would love to see Kaitlin Olson and the rest of the IASIP gang recognized with a nomination. What with it being one of the most consistently funny shows on TV year after year.
While you, James, might think “little bit of Lynch tends to go a long way” (you might only be familiar with Jane Lynch as Sue on GLEE)… But we, who know Jane’s body of work (as touched upon by Frank in LB), know that Lynch is extremely talented and have no doubt that she can “hold up the stage for a three-hour show”.
As I am familiar with all of her work to the point of having an encyclopedic knowledge of it, I can unhesitatingly state that she is good for about two hours’ worth of hosting before she will simply stop being funny. After three hours, she will simply cease to exist entirely.
Great choice! Have been a fan since her first spot on 2.5Men. Just hope we don’t have stupid Glee-related crap shoved down our throats all 3 hours.
If Sheen has any brain cells left it would be HILARIOUS if he would do a skit with her and her just asking him “So, what’s been going on with you lately?”
Yeah, that sounds soooo hilarious.
Just hope we won’t have to endure too much Glee-related humor. That show is awful.
With Neil Patrick Harris and now possibly Jane Lynch hosting…the EMMY’S have finally gone GAY!! (Not that I’m complaining)…
I loved it when Wanda Sykes hosted years ago too!
One of following recognisable actors with comedic experience should be the host instead:
Ben Stiller, Adam Sandler, Will Ferrell, Ricky Gervais, Simon Pegg, Eddie Izzard, Rowan Atkinson, Owen Wilson, Jack Black, Rob Schneider, Jeremy Piven, Mike Myers, Jim Carrey, William Shatner, Steve Martin, Alec Baldwin, Tim Allen, Chevy Chase, John Goodman, Billy Connolly, Danny DeVito, Robin Williams, George Lopez, John Cleese, Steve Coogan
Almost all of those are terrible ideas for hosts, especially Sander, Wilson, SCHNEIDER (???) and George Lopez.
I will concede, however, that John Cleese would probably be hilarious, although too smart for most of America.
Funny that every single one of these suggestions is a man.
I was just thinking that this was a long list of men – not a single funny girl could be an appropriate host? Tina Fey, Kristen Wiig, Amy Poehler, Carol Burnett, Ellen Degeneras – none of them would be appropriate?
No, Karen, none of them would be. For reasons ranging from lack of sophistication to age to simply being unfunny.
Brett you are way off base
NO just no!
I like Jane Lynch, just not Glee. As long as Glee, X Factor, and Idol aren’t shoved down our throats, I think she’ll be fine.
THIS.
Except that I love Glee though.
But I agree with the rest, I don’t want to see Sue Sylvester on that stage. Jane has to do Jane.
Guaranteed, every commercial break will begin with a commercial for The X Factor.
I can’t stand the woman…won’t watch..she has an ad on TV and I nute it each time UGH
ewwwwww
bad choice, you can’t take two hours of jl
