The CW's new 'Secret Circle' six-minute trailer

Tags: , News

The CW has released a longer, better look at its upcoming Vampire Diaries companion The Secret Circle. This is basically the same clip ad buyers watched at the last week’s upfronts. Like the original VD extended trailer, it sort of tells you the whole pilot in condensed form, but it’s not like that tactic wasn’t effective last time around.

So what do you think? Does Secret Circle, um, cast a spell? (Sorry, but the witch puns will only be fresh for a like another week or two before we’re all sick of them, so we have to get some in now).

    Wow, that voice-over is awful.

  • Debbie M

Glad to see Britt from Life Unexpected got another series right away. Love her.

  • Ms. Chanandler Bong

So all of Kevin Williams’ witches in the south are black and in the Pacific NW white?

    • Eric P

THANK you!! i thought i was the only one who noticed.

    • PV

I noticed this as well. Would it kill them to try for a little diversity?

    • Al

First off to you and everybody this is NOT a companion series to tvd kevin williamson announced and d=second different story different characters and tvd had a whote witch jesus chrisy

      • Al

        *white witch

  • Brooke

It is questionable how this will work when they’ve cut out half the coven from the books, but I just hope it’s as fun as Vampire Diaries is. That’s all I’ll need to enjoy it.

    • Kate

Plus changed the location, tweaked the plot . . . I’m still psyched.

    • Zoe

To be fair, even LJ Smith couldn’t develop all the characters in the 12-person circle. The show keeps most of the major ones.

      • Kassie

Yeah, they’re doing the best they can. TVD cut out idk, the entire story and all of the good characters, and look how good it’s doing! I hardly call L.J. Smith’s VD and the CW’s VD the same thing. Hope S.C. isnt the same

Vampire Diaries looked pretty bad at first, but it got way better as it went on. Maybe that’ll happen here.

    • Blondie

You know what, I’m very much inlcnied to agree.

    • Summer

True! After, roughly, the first six episodes, Vampire Diaries really grew into something amazing.

  • Cici

I’ve watched several clips from this show, and I want to like it. Problem: the brunette girl with the ponytail/bun (Faye?) just can’t act at all. She’s terrible, and that’s just a trailer!

    • Claire

Thank You – My god she was awful, so annoying!

  • Javadude54

How long before the witches in Salem start whining about how the show portrays witches in a bad light?

  • PV

looks good. I stopped watching VD but I’m going to check this out.

Evil Gale Harold looks so dang sexy.

Though I’m disappointed with the white-washed cast, at least VD has Bonnie.

And is anyone else hoping for some lgbtq hookups amongst these witches?

  • James P.

that on girl with the short hair who barely talks, I heard she was mixed or something

  • Karyn

Great, another series of books i loved as a kid being ruined……

  • Avie

EW, let’s just never abbreviate “Vampire Diaries” ever again, okay? Just write the entire title out, it won’t kill you.

  • Captain

Wow, ths looks kind of bad. Remember when the CW ordered Melrose Place as a companion to 90210? That went well.

    • Ms. Chanandler Bong

Not even Amanda Woodward could save Melrose 2.0!

  • Charles

OMG!! another Kevin Williamson show!! Kind of reminds me of The Craft but with guys, which makes it even better!! And here’s to hoping that somehow they can make a Vampire Diaries and The Secret Circle crossover!!! Guy can dream right??

  • shannon

the only thing im mad about is they cut 7 people from the books and added a new girl what is that .. and they could of made it 8 people in the circle and kept the twins they were the funny ones that the show looks like its missing

    • Celine

Yeah agreed, having the twins would have been so much fun to watch!

  • topazbean

Wow – so dull I couldn’t even sit through a 6 minute trailer. That bodes well.
