Danny DeVito 'fondly' remembers Jeff Conaway

Tags:

Danny DeVito, who co-starred with Jeff Conaway in Taxi, has released a statement about the late actor, who passed away Friday at the age of 60 of complications from pneumonia. DeVito, who played Louie De Palma on Taxi, said of Conaway, who portrayed struggling actor Bobby Wheeler: “Jeff was a good man. I will always think of him fondly and of our days together with the Taxi family. Finally he’s at peace.”

Fellow Taxi co-star Marilu Henner spoke to EW about Conaway. See her remembrances here.

    R.I.P. Jeff.

  • Lucy

Yes, I hope Jeff is at peace. He always struck me as a very sweet man despite his problems.

  • Move along…

    …there’s nothing more to see.

    • Sorry but,

That’s not really your call, is it? I’m sure Conaway’s fans, myself included, are pleased to see him remembered well.

Sounds like something he said on B5.

Grease is an iconic film that will live forever and Taxi is a classic. Whatever transpired in his personal life, Jeff Conway’s work will live on forever and continue to bring joy to people everywhere.

Let’s not try to make the guy a saint. He was a moderately talented actor who completely screwed his life up for 30 years on drugs. His coke use meant that at least on one occasion, a script had to be re-written overnight because he was too stoned to handle the role. On a cast that included Christopher Lloyd and Andy Kaufman, HE was the troublemaker and the one who got fired. He messed up every opportunity he had to get off the junk.

Let his messed-up life be an object lesson to anyone who might consider taking cocaine.

Never heard of him. Then again, I never saw Taxi or Grease so….meh!

    • Brett

I thought they show movies all the time in Rikers.

You’re thinking of San Quentin but, the Latinos have dibs on the TV’s, esse.

F U Rock Golf! RIP Kenicki!!

I agree with Danny DeVito. Louie DePalma lives.

  • Ann

I agree with Rock Golf, his drug use was his choice, noone made him do drugs. Why would people fell so sad about him? He had free will and decided to let his life go to hell!

I am really impressed with your writing talents and also with the layout to your blog. Is this a paid theme or did you modify it your self? Either way keep up the nice quality writing, it is rare to see a great weblog like this one these days..
