Hines Ward on 'DWTS': 'I've already won'

Yes, Hines Ward has been in the top three of the leader board week after week. Yes, he’s been the Las Vegas odds makers’ pick to win for several weeks running. And yes, he had an amazing night on Monday’s Dancing with the Stars with a classy freestyle that earned him a 30 and an equally amazing judges’ choice samba that scored him a 29.

So does that mean Ward is a shoo-in for the trophy? Maybe, but the pro athlete already feels like he’s standing in the winner’s circle. “I’ve proved to people that I can dance. I’ve already won,” Ward told reporters after Monday’s performance show.

That said, Ward knows exactly where that mirror ball trophy will go, should he win one. “I have a place for this at home, right beside my Super Bowl MVP trophy!”

Since he’s got some stiff competition from Disney star Chelsea Kane  – who also scored a 29 and a 30 on Monday — and Kirstie Alley — who’s a real crowd pleaser — Ward thinks it’s anyone’s trophy to win on Tuesday. “Chelsea and Mark, they’re great. Maks and Kirstie are great. It’s just a matter of whatever you feel. I think everyone’s style is a little different,” he said.

Fair enough, but he’s not shy to point out his consistently high scores. “For week to week we’ve been right there at the top of the leader board. Week in and week out, hopefully the fans will see that and vote for us.”

Meanwhile, Ward’s partner Kym Johnson is still recovering from that nasty neck injury from last week and is still wearing a neck brace during rehearsals. “I’m not too bad,” she told reporters. “My movement has improved this week. I’m feeling much better. We did those lifts slowly. We really mastered how to get me up. I was going to make sure we did it right. I wore my neck brace in rehearsals. We were more cautious going into it, but we were confident about the tricks.”

When asked whether he’s suffered any injuries, Hines joked, “Mentally. Dropping her on her head. Getting locked up by the police. But other than that, health wise I’m fine. I’m still in awe that we pulled off our routine.”

Kirstie Alley on life after 'DWTS': Is a Broadway show in her future?

Kirstie Alley may be at the bottom of the leader board going into Tuesday’s finale of Dancing with the Stars, but she’s already got a prize (or two) waiting in the wings: Broadway is calling!

“I was offered a Broadway play,” the actress told reporters after Monday’s show. “I’m not going to do it, because my friends said, `don’t do one if you can’t get a Tony!’  But I am tempted. There a couple I want to do.”

When Alley declined to give details about her Broadway ambitions, a reporter prodded her about some other post-DWTS possibilities — like, maybe, appearing on The Bachelorette? “F–k no! Are you crazy?” she said, laughing. “I would be so f–king mean. Are you kidding me? It would be bad!” READ FULL STORY »

'DWTS' Chelsea Kane: 'This will be my first trophy!'

Just saying, fans of Kirstie Alley and Hines Ward: Chelsea Kane has never won squat, so she wouldn’t mind taking home that mirror trophy during Tuesday’s final of Dancing with the Stars. ”This would be the first thing I’ve ever won,” the actress told reporters after Monday’s show. “Kirstie and Hines have won Emmys and Super Bowls. This will be my first trophy if I take it home! I’ll dedicate it to the whole room.”

But were her two dances on Monday strong enough to warrant a first place win? SPOILER ALERT! Don’t go to jump if you haven’t watched her perform. READ FULL STORY »

Bono, The Edge to perform on 'American Idol' finale with 'Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark' cast, not with U2

U2 bandmembers Bono and The Edge will indeed perform on Wednesday’s tenth season finale of American Idol, but it won’t be as a part of U2. Instead, the group confirms on its official website that the pair will accompany the cast of Broadway’s Spider-Man musical — including star Reeve Carney, who plays Peter Parker — on the two hour event. Earlier reports had suggested that U2 would appear as a group, which prompted the band’s clarification about the performance. The appearance by U2 and Bono is no surprise, though, considering that the struggling Spider-Man production, which is filled with songs written by the pair from U2, has rebooted and is headed into super-promotion mode while gearing up for its official opening on June 14.

Josh Harris and Capt. Derrick Ray talk Tuesday's episode of 'Deadliest Catch' (and why the cops were called)

It’s been a tension-filled season of Deadliest Catch thanks to the low crab count and high stakes on the Cornelia Marie. Fans have been watching Capt. Derrick Ray clash with late skipper Phil Harris’ sons Josh and Jake, who are now partial owners of the boat as well as deckhands, since before the ship left the dock, and it all comes to a head in Tuesday’s episode (Discovery, 9 p.m. ET). The crew threatens to call an abrupt end to king crab season because Ray isn’t filling the tanks with the elusive blue crab, and Ray, convinced he’s smelled marijuana on Jake, searches for and finds pot paraphernalia in the engine room and has a cop waiting to question Jake — who denies he’s been smoking weed — when they hit land to off load. Watch a clip below. READ FULL STORY »

Ashton Kutcher's 'Two and a Half Men' deal only spans one year: report

Before you go falling in love with Ashton Kutcher on Two and a Half Men next season, you might want to note now that this could only be a brief affair. (That’s Hollywood for you.)

According to a report on the Wall Street Journal‘s website, Kutcher’s deal to replace former star Charlie Sheen (a contract worth nearly $20 million for the season) only secures the star for a single season.

It’s worth noting, however, that Men also has only one more year under contract at CBS. Should the show get another year, Kutcher would reportedly have the option of extending his stay. But that would also mean a trip back to the discussion table, and the possibility that Kutcher would ultimately choose not to return for another season.

Attempts by EW to contact reps for Warner Bros. Television and Kutcher were not returned.

'Curb Your Enthusiasm' trailer: Watch Larry David be Larry David (i.e. tick people off)

Feeling grumpy because it’s Monday? Well, every day is Grump Day for Larry David. But maybe your day will brighten a bit by seeing him manufacture misery in this new trailer for season 8 of HBO comedy Curb Your Enthusiasm. Watch Larry spread harm across gender lines, taking on both man (for hogging two parking spaces) and woman (for stealing his cab). He even offends one Michael J. Fox, who tells him: “I have a sickness in my brain — you have a sickness in your mind.” But leave it to good ol’ Jeff Greene (Jeff Garlin) to deliver the best summation to a rather pleased Larry: “You know what you are? You’re a social assassin.” Season 8 premieres July 10, includes a trip to New York City, and offers up celebrity guests such as Ricky Gervais, Michael McKean, Rosie O’Donnell, Paul F. Tompkins, and Rich Sommer of Mad Men. Check out the trailer below:  READ FULL STORY »

Update: Click here for a rundown of the finale!

Let me just put this out there: I will be thrilled if Cuddy doesn’t die tonight on the season finale of House. Yes, we know that Lisa Edelstein will not be returning next season, but there are other ways to say farewell to a character as beloved-by-many as Lisa Cuddy. Right? Well, we hope so. But there’s really no telling what executive producer Greg Yaitanes and team House have up their sleeve.  READ FULL STORY »

New 'True Blood' promo makes Eric the face of vampires: Excellent call!

Tensions between humans and vampires are running high in season 4 of True Blood following Russell Edgington’s on-air antics. Politicians are telling their constituents not to trust vampires, and, understandably, the vampires are trying to get out the message that they are as different from each other as humans are. I think Eric is the perfect vamp to deliver that message in the promo below. Mesmerized by his heavage, I would believe just about anything he said. (Bill at a ribbon-cutting ceremony sporting politician hair, on the other hand? Not at all.)  READ FULL STORY »
