'American Idol': Haley Reinhart's final performance -- VIDEO

One night after slipping on stage, Haley Reinhart was eliminated on American Idol, leaving only two teenage contestants remaining. But she did not go down like a lead balloon (oof), planting the seeds of voter regret with a sassy, relaxed rendition of Elton John’s “Bennie and the Jets.” The girl’s got a future.

Watch her finale performance embedded after the jump. Do you think her stumble cinched her elimination? And do you think America will regret sending her home? READ FULL STORY »

We’re coming up to that point of the year, Roomies, where all the season finales are wrapping up and so is my will to take any more emotional abuse from showrunners. Kidding – and also not. Nonetheless, when the last major finales wrap up, it’ll be like opening the last present on Christmas Day. You’re satisfied…yet sad.

But fear not. Summer TV brings its bounty not too long after and we should rejoice in that. So please send your questions to me. AND if you have any burning questions/general comments about any season finales, send those in, too. We’ll track down some answers, yeah?

Here are the details: Email spoilerroom@ew.com (note the two “R”s) or Tweet me at @EWSandraG. READ FULL STORY »

Fox's new 'X Factor' trailer

Categories: The X Factor

We were just writing about this. Well, not this trailer. This is much shorter than what ad buyers saw in New York City this week and lacks its judges panel scenes and their moments with the contestants. But it still gives you a broader look at Fox’s The X Factor. Check it out (Hey … did Fox really put ultra-Brit Simon Cowell up against an American flag at the end?). READ FULL STORY »

'Saturday Night Live' host Justin Timberlake with musical guest Lady Gaga -- EXCLUSIVE PHOTO

We are T-minus two days from Saturday Night Live’s season 36 finale, and expectations are running high — maybe even higher than the magic place that motherlovin’ Justin Timberlake (returning as host for the fourth time) and musical guest Lady Gaga (channeling some Cruella de Vil) are gazing toward in this exclusive promo photo. “They’re a fun duo — a dynamic duo, indeed — and we’re no slouches either, so it should be a good time,” cast member Jason Sudeikis quips to EW. Give it on up to Commentsville and let everyone know what kind of Timberlake/Gaga antics you hope to see on Saturday. Here’s the photo: READ FULL STORY »

Best and worst new shows, decisions, and scheduling moves of the 2011 upfronts

Categories: 2011 Upfronts, TV Biz
upfront-2011

Upfronts are finally over, but the walk-up to the fall 2011–12 lineup has only just begun. Before we start splitting hairs over the really important stuff (why is Jesus starring on a J.J. Abrams show? Can somebody ixnay the silk pantsuits on Charlie’s Angels already?), we have some knee-jerk reactions to what we saw and heard this week in New York.

Most impressive big-event trailer: Fox’s new X Factor trailer. Okay, we get it now — the show is really big with lots of drama — and did you realize contestants fly off to, like, Simon Cowell’s palatial European estate to get berated by him in a whole other country? The Kool-Aid has been successfully ingested.

Strongest déjà vu: Fox pitching Terra Nova. Hey, wasn’t this your big new drama last year, too?

Most deserved cancellation: Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior. No offense to Forest Whitaker — his arc on The Shield still sends shivers down our spines – but if there was one procedural that wasn’t screaming for a spin-off, it was the Joe Mantegna starrer. READ FULL STORY »

British actor Chris Vance (Prison Break, Burn Notice) has been cast as the lead in the TV version of the Transporter action movie franchise, EW can report exclusively. Vance will play expert driver and “professional transporter” Frank Martin — the role which was originated on the big screen by his fellow Brit, Jason Statham. The show is being executive produced by Luc Besson, who co-wrote all three of the Transporter movies. The first season will be shot this summer in Canada and Europe and then be broadcast on Cinemax next year. “It’s high octance,” Vance told EW, when asked to give a flavor of what viewers can expect. “Fast-paced. Action-packed. Car chases. Stunts. Fights, Beautiful girls. Villains. Heroes. Guns. It should be a lot of fun.” READ FULL STORY »

'Bones' season finale sends Booth and Brennan undercover as a couple -- EXCLUSIVE CLIP

Categories: Bones, Television

Last week’s episode of Bones had us wondering what Booth (David Boreanaz) and Brennan (Emily Deschanel) did under the covers in his bed. (He just held her after the loss of Mr. Nigel-Murray, right?) Tonight’s season finale (Fox, 9 p.m. ET) sends them undercover in a bowling alley, and we know what they’re doing: posing as a couple to solve a murder. Watch them in action in our exclusive clip below. Previewing the season finale for EW, Deschanel poked fun at her look: ”I’m kinda like the missing member of Quiet Riot or Twisted Sister,” she laughed. “That’s the crazy thing about Bones: It’s like, ‘We’re gonna go undercover!’ and we’re the most conspicuous people in the bowling alley.” Mullet jokes aside, she also gave us a serious piece of advice for the show’s ‘shippers: “People need to watch to the very end of the episode because things are revealed and something changes their relationship forever,” she teased. Is tonight the night they finally become a couple, or are our minds just in the gutter?

We’ll be chatting with executive producer Stephen Nathan after the finale airs on the East Coast, so post your questions for him here by 10:15 p.m. ET. Come back at 1 a.m. ET to read the interview. UPDATE: Let’s keep the comments section spoiler-free, lucky Canadians who’ve already seen the episode. Spoilerphobes, we’d recommend NOT reading the comments on this post, just to be safe. Tonight, it’s time for a Swanson swan song. Even though Parks and Recreation re-entered our lives just a few months ago, we must already say goodbye as the NBC comedy ends its superb third season with a two-part, one-hour finale (10-11 p.m ET). What kind of surprises await these Pawnee government employees in the final hour? We asked series co-creator/exec producer Mike Schur to give EW.com 10 hints about tonight’s action, which involves romance, death, and a threat to Ron’s mustache. “These characters make huge, life-changing decisions in the last seven minutes of the hour,” says Schur. “There’s an out-of-nowhere curveball for Leslie in the last scene, so I urge everyone to stay tuned to the end. It’s like The Usual Suspects. You have to watch until the very end.” Herewith, 10 teases to prep you for the Parks season finale. READ FULL STORY »
