In a classy show of gratitude for the show that helped to jump start his career, Josh Duhamel has agreed to perform a cameo on the soon-to-be shuttered All My Children.
Duhamel will reprise his role as con artist Leo du Pres on the ABC soap, which is set to air its final episode in September. The film actor, who went on to star in NBC’s Las Vegas before appearing in flicks like Transformers and Life as We Know It, will appear in an August episode (or two?) of AMC.
De Pres supposedly died in 2003 when trying to save Greenlee (Rebecca Budig) in a waterfall accident. His body, however, was never found — which left open the possibility that his character would return to Pine Valley.
Duhamel was nominated for four Daytime Emmy awards for his time on AMC; he won for outstanding supporting actor in 2002.
Occasionally, the daytime soaps are successful in recruiting famous alums to perform cameos before they go off the air. In April 2010, Julianne Moore (A Single Man) reprised her role as Frannie Hughes on As the World Turns before it ended last fall. The Oscar-nominated actress got her start on ATWT in 1985 by playing half-sisters Frannie and Sabrina - a depiction that earned her a Daytime Emmy in 1988, the year she left the show.
There are plenty of other exciting alums that AMC could lure, if the timing (or money) is right. Besides Duhamel, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Christian Slater also got their start on AMC, as did Kelly Ripa and Kim Delaney. The list of graduates of One Life to Life, which goes off the air in January 2012, is equally fun and impressive. Former stars of that soap include Tommy Lee Jones, Blair Underwood, Hayden Panettiere and Yasmin Bleeth.

Good for him. It’s always nice to see someone who hasn’t forgotten where he came from. A lot of stars who made it big after soaps, try to distance themselves from the genre but I admire people who aren’t afraid to embrace it. Sarah Michelle Gellar would be a great catch but she’s got a new show and her character is played by another actress now.
SMG mentioned that she would cameo as someone other than Kendall. Since it’s the end, I’d be all for seeing SMG and Eden Riegel just walk past Alicia Minshew and Christina Bennett Lind in a park or something.

I don`t watch OLTL, but I have seen Judith Light`s character Karen Wolek on you tube from years ago and she was outstanding, it was the courtroom scene. For those who have`t seen it go to you tube, she`s incredible in that scene. EMMY WELL DESERVED!
I was watching OLTL at that time and saw Judith Light’s performance. Devastating. Could be considered the signature moment of the entire show’s run.

Very funny!!!!!!! Josh comes across as such a nice guy…he comes across so naturally nice when he’s on Ellen. I just was very surprised over that whole plane incident…with him not turning off his electronic device and getting into an argument with the flight attendants. Glad he’s back though. Screw you Brian Frons!
I agree. I always thought Greenlee belonged with Leo and Ryan belonged with Gillian. I’ve been waiting all these years for Leo to return. It was so obvious that he didn’t die in that waterfall. Didn’t they show him climbing onto a log or a tree branch in the river?

This is wonderful news. I’ll be estatic if Greenlee and Leo can ride off into the sunset when AMC ends. The cherry on the sundae would be Nathan coming back to OLTL as Joey (I can dream right).

Greenlee hasn’t had even a halfway decent love interest since Josh left. So glad he’s coming back for the end!
I’ll be thrilled to see Josh on the show. What I don’t like is how everyone keeps talking about the end of the show. There are several events going on with fans fighting to save the soaps so I’m very hopeful that the shows will continue on another network. Keep the faith!

As much as I’d like to see the show saved, I doubt it will happen. I’ve been a fan since I was 7 years old, and I’ll be 39 in September. It’s the end of an era, there’s not enough Kleenex in the world that will hold my tears when the final episode airs!

AMC/OLTL are a both goners deal with it and accept. Its over. GH is next and will probably be gone within a year.
Frons thought he was god ,and he detoysred the soaps. he can watch whatever he likes.I will never watch abc during the day. I am home all day and the types of shows they replaced my soaps with do not intrest me at all. Spew,and revelotion,no thanks.Frons can say what he likes but I think he got fired ,same as all the actors and crew on these shows.Oh well what goes around ,comes around.
