NBC made it official today by announcing that Josh Lucas will star as Mitchell McDeere in its reboot of The Firm. Lucas (A Beautiful Mind) will take over the role originated by Tom Cruise in the film.
The series will pick up McDeere’s story about a decade after the events of the 1991 novel by John Grisham and film.
Grishman is on board as a non-writing executive producer, with former Law & Order producer Lukas Reiter as showrunner and eOne Television as the primary production company, which is also selling the show internationally.
The drama was picked up for NBC’s midseason lineup.

Dumb idea. 10 years after that abortion of a movie adaptation? Do a true reboot and adapt the original novel!
He’s much sexier than Tom Cruise. Can’t wait to see this. I just wish it was on pay cable so we can see some NSFW stuff.
Agree with the Tom Cruise comparison. I think he seems like he’ll be a lot closer to the guy in the book then Cruise was- charismatic, young, ambitious, but with a moral streak that comes out.
I don’t know that I see this as a TV show, but I loved the book so much that I’ll give it a shot.
How about that ole’ mushmouth Wilford Brimley? It wouldn’t be the same if they didn’t reenact the part where Mitch McDeere kicks the daylights out of his gut.
Why?
He was in A Beautiful Mind?
