Terry O'Quinn joins 'Hawaii Five-0'

Terry-O-QuinnImage Credit: Insidefoto/PR PhotosTalented Lost veteran Terry O’Quinn has found his next TV gig, and he doesn’t even need to leave the Aloha State to do it.

O’Quinn has joined CBS’ Hawaii Five-0 in a recurring role, sources confirm (we were hoping O’Quinn would get hired to replace Laurence Fishburne on CSI, but alas… ). The actor will play a Navy Seal Lt. Commander who trained Steve McGarrett (Alex O’Loughlin). The move reunites O’Quinn with his former Lost co-star Daniel Dae Kim. O’Quinn starred in ABC’s pilot Hallelujah from Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry that was aiming for a fall slot, but the show didn’t get picked up.

I was hoping he’d replace Fishburne too — he’d have been perfect!!

    • flounder

I agree. He would have been great on CSI… H50 is trash. Too bad.

      • natacha

Flounder you do not know what you are talking about; H50 is an excellent show to watch; can’t for next season.

      • Ellen

CSI and H5O are about the same quality

      • Brett

H50 is much more entertaining than any of the CSI’s. People actually ACT on H50 instead of phoning in monotonous droning dialogue.

This is awesome….love Hawaii 5-0 and love O’Quinn

  • Sid

Is he going to be the new governer?

  • vjw

This sounds more reminiscent of his “Admiral Boone” days on JAG. Glad to see him back on my TV – even if I don’t really watch H-5-0.

    • vjw

Oh, and Terry is too good for the ailing and slowly dying CSI. That show has seen better days.

      • PHD

he would have SAVED that show…trust me!

  • Anne

While I’m happy he’s getting steady work, I gotta admit, I was really hoping he would join “Person of Interest” somehow so that he could reunite with Michael Emerson. But alas, it doesn’t look like they’re going to be reunited on screen any time soon.

    • E

Me too! And they kept saying how much they wanted to work together again. Hopefully someday…

    • Matt

Yes, I don’t understand how/why, but it seemed that JJ Abrams let the show fall apart (the show that was to reunite O’Quinn and Emerson).

  • Em

I think I’ll have to put the show back on Season Pass.

what about Hallelujah from ABC? any new news about the show? Is it already dead? or is there a chance that it will be set as a mid-season replacement in 2012??

Do you mind if I quote a couple of your aetlcirs as long as I provide credit and sources back to your blog? My blog is in the very same area of interest as yours and my visitors would genuinely benefit from some of the information you present here. Please let me know if this alright with you. Thank you!

That’s a shame. I thought it sounded interesting.

Here it is again, since you didn’t read the article:

“O’Quinn starred in ABC’s pilot Hallelujah from Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry that was aiming for a fall slot, but the show didn’t get picked up.

Yeah, I saw it too while I was watching the show. I woednr if the guy uses it the right way, then turns it around to write on the other side of the pages? I have large reporter I use for meeting notes and that’s the idea I have to use the other side of the pages.

  • KC

I was hoping he was going to remake that last season of Lost correctly.

    • tikitim

It couldn’t have been done ANY more perfectly!!!!

  • Cameron Yarde Jnr

I think he’ll be a better addition to the show than Larisa Oleynik. I don’t think she’s needed.

  • Amy

LOST reunion!! While H5O isn’t normally my cup of tea, I keep watching because it plays to my geeky sensibilities – the BSG, LOST, and Buffy alum the show has. Now another Lostie? I won’t be giving this one up anytime soon even if I watch it the day after. It will be interesting to see how this character will fit in to the mess the show left the 5-0 in at the end of the season.

    • jj

that makes no sense to me. i can love an actor but not love a show. i find H50 unwatchable and it doesn’t matter how many actors i like are on there if the writing/storylines are so bad that they can’t do anything with it.

  • Amanda

I was hoping he’d replace Fishburne, too, but it’s good to see him on primetime again.

  • jason8

How about David James Elliot or Tim Roth for CSI

    • Fyrkat

I’d got back to watching CSI with Tim Roth in any role. Even if he was the criminal du jour. DJE is too wooden to CSI. It would take him too long to engage fan interest in his character.

An addition/alteration to Stephen’s theme of why Nth Qld’s are/feel they are dffnereit is that we are left behind/are backward, but why we are glad to be and avoid a lot of the hang ups and problems big city folk down south tend to live with, thinking they are far better off.

  • Sammie

Enjoy Hawaii 5-0, but it could use a little more of the type of grittiness that Terry O’Quinn always provides. Good choice.

    • TQB

I feel like he will *not* like Dano and Dano will think he’s a lunatic – and that will be awesome.

  • Tim

He would have been better cast as Wo Fat.

    • Vindhya

From past Q A sessions, it was cofeirmnd that the developer focus would be on realistic horse breeds. When asked about fantasy horses, they stated that there aren’t any current plans to bring out anything fantasy-ish, though that doesn’t mean never-ever. For now, I’d be assured that we’re going to see some top-quality realism with these horses.

this guy is so much better than a boring cbs procedural.
