'Jersey Shore': MTV responds to recasting rumors

MTV

Reports hit the web this morning that MTV was planning on replacing the original cast of its phenom Jersey Shore in season 6 due to the cast’s pricey salaries. But, in a statement to EW, a network rep denied such claims: “We love the present cast, and their summer adventures have just begun. We currently have no plans to recast the show.” The fourth season of Jersey Shore, filmed in Florence, Italy, will premiere on MTV on Aug. 4.

Instead of recasting, how about cancelling it?

    • outrageousness

      this!

    • Liz Lemon

Jersey Shore is the most successful show MTV has at the moment, there’s no way they’re cancelling it.

    • Vince from NYC

Why does it have to be cancelled? If you don’t like it don’t turn it on. Or if it happens to pop on your TV, change the channal. Some of us enjoy trashy reality television.

      • Jay

The problem with this thinking is that “trashy reality television” is so cheap to make that quality scripted TV is becoming extinct.

Be a part of the solution and stop witching this drivel

      • Vince from NYC

There are still and will always be good scripted TV out there. Jersey Shore isn’t all that cheap to make with their high salaries. People like variety. I love shows like Fringe, Lost, GOT etc.. Sometimes I like to have a drink, turn off my brain and watch two overly tanned morons scream and pull each others hair. I don’t see a problem with that.

      • AK

Jay, MTV has never been know for its “good scripted TV” (it’s first hallmark show was “The Real World” after all). I don’t think we’re missing too much in this world because “Jersey Shore” is successful.

PLEASE DON’T RECAST!!! LOVE THE PRESENT CAST……..THEY CAN’T BE REPLACED!!! NO!!!!

    • judgeito

Cancel thm, puhleeeazzz. Smarter words couldn’t have been spoken.

    • judgeito

I’m not against people being able to watch the show if it’s done the way religous jerks, tea bagger morons and far right wingnut Repugnants should be handled – keep your crap to yourselves and please stop flinging your feces around in public. Thanks, I hope we’ve finally gotten this resolved.

  • BobS

Definitely it should be recast! The current cast members are beginning to play themselves as though they were characters. Way tooooo predictable. Totally new group might be fun!

    • SaraS

Agree.. the show was golden 1st season. Now it’s just disgusting to see what’s happened with Ronnie and Sam. Time to go.

  • PN

I think it’s some people who can’t stand Snooki or The Situation that wrote that rumor. Their overblown egos on the show. And they just want them off the show, period. And most of them aren’t originally from New Jersey in the first place–they want to see that authenticity of the state in the cast.

    • frostysnowman

No, they play themselves as charicatures.

  • Smallville

Enough with the ”their not even from Jersey.” Its called the Jersey Shore because every other season the show is on the Jersey shore. And no this one show isnt dumbing down the entire country which is about 330 mil. Calm down. loL

  • NessaB

I don’t think they could find 8 more people as disgusting and pointless as this group.

  • Daily

I love the cast but it’s time for a recast. But then the recast will try to outdo this cast. Just cancel it already.

I would watch a Snooki and Jenni show. I love those two!

  • the world

    please please recast them!!!!!

  • Vince from NYC

The show would bomb if they recasted. You can’t re-create a perfect storm. There is no special effects, no writers (well maybe a little writing) It’s still a bargan with their high salaries.

    • Somebody

Wrong, much of the series is staged or controlled. It isn’t truly reality, it is controlled “reality”.

I don’t understand how anyone can think this (along many other “reality” shows) is reality, but people eat it up anyway.

  • MC

They shouldn’t completely recast, but it might help if they added some new faces and replaced some of the dead weight (I’m looking at you Vinny).

  • Christian

That’s crazy that they make more than probably ever star on The CW. And I’ve been saying that they need to replace at least half the cast to create some new interesting dynamics. The show is getting a bit stale.

  • Stacey

I love the present cast!!! They won’t get the viewers they have now…please keep the present cast.

  • dani

recast!!! these people don’t deserve more money. there’s plenty of jersey juice heads to go around. go find some new ones and let this group go right back to living at the mall.

  • john

all the cast are not payed $100.000 maybe recast some of the cast that think there to big for the show without the show what are they add 2 or 3 new faces. i know if you change the whole cast the show is over hello another new world maybe

  • will g alvira

Will the Italians be holding Snookie in jail for the next 10 years?

  • jacob

kick sam and ronnie and keep the rest
