'Big Brother' promises 'double trouble' this summer. Gawd.

Tired of wondering what maddening new twist that Big Brother has in store for its houseguests when it returns July 7? Wait no more: CBS has announced that this season’s theme is “Double Trouble,” meaning the long-running reality show will feature (godhelpusgodhelpusgodhelpus) the return of “some of the most dynamic duos from the show’s history.”

Will and Boogie? Rachel and Brendon? Freakin’ Evel Dick and his daughter Daniele? CBS isn’t saying for now, only that “the return of these former houseguests will immediately impact the way the game will be played.” Their identities will be revealed during the premiere episode. Goody!

Oh, and we saved the best for last. Julie Chen will return as host!

For more about the eight new houseguests, check out their fresh faces by clicking here. (Look out for the VIP waitress. Gee, we’ve never seen one of those before on BB)!

Unabashed BB fans, follow me @EWLynette

  • Lois (From Smallville) STINKS!

What is it with shows brining back former contestants? The one thing about reality shows is the fact that no 2 seasons can ever be the same, provided they don’t bring back former contestants. And doesn’t it put the new contestants at a disadvantage when they bring in people who’ve already gone through the experience (i.e. survivor)? I dunno, I’m already skeptical of this season, and it hasn’t even started. Lame.

    • rick

Big brothher only had players return in Allstars , and in Season 11 when jesee returned. So its not like Big brother returns players each

      • Melissa

But now ALL 3 of the CBS shows are doing it.

    • Lois (From Smallville) RULES!

Your opinion of Erica Durance’s portrayal of Lois Lane on Smallville is REALLY off the mark. I can only conclude that:
      -
      1) You either must be a gay man who has no idea of what makes a blazing hot and sexy female or,
      -
2)You must be an ugly, and jealous, female, and
      -
      3) Clearly have no taste nor proper aptitude to deduce excellent acting chops. Sit down, and shut up. Your opinion has been noted and tossed in the garbage pail with the other trash.

      • Jack

Lois, it’s really immature to call people names just because they have a different opinion than yours. Grow up.

      • Shut Up, Tardo

I fail to see the name calling in the above post. Simply well stated reasons for dismissing the Lois Hater’s troll inducing name. Get a brain, Jacko.

      • Lois (from Smallville) RULES!

Using the term, “ugly female” isn’t name calling. It’s citing a potential reason for the first poster’s delusion that Lois on Smallville “stinks”. (Who, by the way, you should more correctly direct your phrase “grow up” to…)
        -
Such an unattractive female might harbor resentment and jealousy at Durance’s beauty, an might lash out unjustly at the actress because of it. This is called “logic.” I agree, Jack needs to “get a brain.”

      • matt

WTF do any of these comments have to do with BB?

      • jody

Or maybe they just think the actress in question doesn’t play the part well. I have no opinion myself because I’ve never seen the show, not being a 350 pound, basement dwelling comic book nerd. See anyone can play that silly game.

      • Lois (From Smallville) STINKS!

@ Lois: What an original name … NOT! BTW, nice sticking to the topic. P!SS off.

    • Alan

If it’s Brendan and Rachel, I WILL DIE. I’m not joking – MY HEART WILL STOP. Please no! Please no! Please no!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      • Carolyn Jackson

I was just as sick to see Brendon and Rachel return. They make me want to throw up watching them week after week!!

  • Danny B

    This is stupid

    • jj

Seriously, who are you people that watch this crapfest. I tried a couple eps the first couple of seasons and found it unbearable. There’s so much better summer TV than this crapfest, why bother with it? Or better yet, go DO something with your family or friends… Weeding my garden would be more fun.

      • Shut Up, Tardo

Spoken like someone who clearly has a dull, boring and lifeless personality. Big Brother is the BEST reality program on TV for the sheer silliness, inanity and disfunctionality of the contestants. Go back to watching your “Grey’s Anatomy” while you hypocritically denounce others who prefer BB’s style of pure bublegumminess guilty pleasures.

      • Oh really?

@ JJ – Yet your life is so enthralling that you have time to post about a show you don’t even like. Maybe you should find some friends. Or weed that precious garden. Loser.

  • wakeforce

As long as it’s not Branchel, I’m okay with it. He’s so much more tolerable without her.

    • SaraS

YES!!! No Brenchel, I won’t watch. She is grating.
I’d love Will and JANELLE, not Will and Boogie..

      • Lois (from Smallville) RULES!

Come on, you KNOW you want to hear that high pitched giggle-laugh again.

      • Courtney

        Janelle and Kasar!!

    • Alan

If they come back (which I have a horrible sinking feeling they might), I will puke out everything I’ve ever eaten in my life.

      • Carolyn Jackson

        their back!!!!!!!

    • Rudi

Posted on I truly appreciate this post. I have been iolkong all over for this! Thank goodness I found it on Bing. You have made my day! Thanks again

  • Jethro

Again, this show continues to play dirty, how unfair for the newbies. Having returnees is not the way to go? How many times has this happened on other shows, Rob on Survivor, it took the 4th. time, and he wins!

Makes no sense. Die hard fans are on to these sketchy plots. I understand they have to keep it new, but bringing back returnees that most of us did not like the first time, is painful.

So it’s pairs, so we would have to assume its the duos mentioned in the article, but it’s BB, so this means it could be any former mate that had something to do with a pairing. My guilty possession is looking less with seasons like this one.

  • ToMajorTom

There is no one from past seasons I want or need to see again. (I’m talking to you, too, Survivor and Amazing Race.) On the plus side, I now have 3 free evenings each week this summer.

  • satirex

Bringing back previous contestants is like starting in the middle–we already have people to care about (either positively or negatively) without having to go through the boring “getting to know you” period. I bet CBS was afraid they would lose ground during the first several weeks since there is so much more fresh programming with each passing summer. Those silly “twists” are also to give people something to talk about while the show gets going.

  • Katie G

I will never, ever complain about the presence of Will/Boogie in the BB household. They’re hilarious and brillant at playing the game. They make the BB antics so much more satisfying to watch unfurl over a summer.

    • Jethro

Does pairings mean two from the same season, maybe not. It could be pairings of those that had something in common? Would you say the same if they bring back Mr. Pectacular, Jessie G? There is mention he is returning in some capacity and not just in a one episode, a few minutes, deal.

Most who write these contributions continually object to having returnees come back and from the looks from these entries, they are disappointed!

    • Lois (from Smallville) RULES!

Of all the possible returning houseguests, I sincerely hope it’s not those two. Mr. Ick and Mr. Ick’s little tag-a-long D*ick. Just, ICK! Beside’s, Boogie (Mr. Tag-A-Long) WON the dang game once anyways.

  • Andy

I predict brenchel, jordeff, and Eric/Jessica.

    • Jethro

NO, NO, NO, NOT THEM! Jordan & Jeff blew their chance on Amazing Race!

    • allie

eric and jessica aren’t even in the running. go to cbs.com for the 6 pairs that are in the pool. three teams will make the show. if its will and boogie I’m totally out. I could handle any of the other pairs…. wouldn’t necessarily like it, but I HATE will and boogie.

    • Carolyn Jackson

Great prediction, their back and it is sicking!!!

  • Bobby F

Come on, bring back some good guys like Kaysar.

    • Jethro

Kaysar was too smart and way above the mentality of the many past season housemates.

    • Carla Houston

I loved Kaysar, but please do not bring him back. He’s way too classy to get down and dirty enough to every win this show. I don’t want him coming back just to see him get the boot again.

  • bamalam

you can actually go to the CBS website to vote for the returning pairs this season, but the problem is that I hate them all. Brendan and Rachel are annoyingly dumb lovers. Will and Boogie are annoyingly smug. Jeff and Jordan are annoyingly dumb. Jessie and Natalie are hated by all of America. Evel D**k and Daniele are plain mean. And Hayden and Enzo consist of a person who was exceedingly lucky to actually appreciate his gameplay and a guy who literally did nothing and was dragged through the game.

    • Jethro

Perfect on every point, but this is what makes great TV! All couples mentioned are exactly why CBS and BB is bringing them back!

    • Justin

You actually aren’t really voting for who will come back. You are voting for who you think will be back, meaning the producers will choose, regardless of who you vote for.

      • bamalam

Oh thank goodness! I think the reason I already hate these people so much is because there is such a universal “feeling” about these people. These people are favorites one way or another (whether being a favorite to love or a favorite to hate) so I think I’ll be glad not finding out who is America’s ultimate favorites.

      • matt

Well we don’t even know if the producers will choose. It could be like in the season where Jessie returned, where the possible returning houseguests compete for who comes into the house. I’m thinking it might be like that, but I hope not.

  • JackieB

I saw the pictures of the new BB contestants… why can’t they bring in some smart people? They’re usually the personalities I enjoy the most. Not dumb bimbos who are VIP waitresses.

    • whatevs

      Smart people? On reality shows?

    • matt

You should watch the cast question/answer sessions on the CBS website. The attractive girls this season actually seem much more intelligent and real than you would expect just by seeing their pictures.

    • JD

most “smart” people probably have jobs that won’t allow them to just take 4 months off so that they can try to be on a reality show. the only reason Dr. Will pulled that off is because he owns his own practice. in a professional field, you’d almost have to be self-employed to work that out. at least this season includes several people who are over 30.

  • Ally

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE NO ON THE FOLLOWING!!:
    JESSIE-NATALIE
    BRENDAN-RACHEL
    HAYDEN-ENZO
everyone else I would be okay with- but I will not watch if I have to hear Rachel,Natalie or Enzo’s annoying voices!!

    • JD

you know, for a fact, that CBS is going to bring back at least 2 of those 3. they love to make us watch people we hate.

  • Mike K

BB will get who they can get, and don’t be surprised that Jessie was available for another season. But this cast seems smart enough to vote out these returning players. Should be a fun season either way.

    • matt

He’s always available to sleep around for a whole summer with Natalie, in more ways than one. God they are horrible.

      • Yay! BB13

        Jessie *sleeping* with Natalie?

Uhhh, based on what we have seen, it would be sleeping ONLY.

      • matt

True, Natalie’s sweatshirt got more action than she did.

  • TicklePig

After a season with the theme ‘Saboteur’ any different theme would be better. Of course there are hillarious scenes when the house is co-ed but what if they put 8 phobic straight guys and 8 gay men in the house. It might get old quick, but the initial weeks would be outrageous.

  • Melissa

I wish I could quit this show, I really do. But I can’t. It’s my guilty trashy summer pleasure. I read a comment on another site that Rachel hasn’t tweeted since 6/25, so it might be her. But they probably have them all sequestered at this point. Let’s hope CBS actually goes with who the fans vote for to return. There can’t possibly be people out there that will vote for Jesse/Nat and Rachel/Brendon, are there?

    • Elizabeth

Unfortunately we only vote for who we THINK will come back, not who we want. Big Brother would be so stupid to bring back Jesse/Nat or Rachel/Brendon. They’re just not popular, at ALL, so why bother?

    • Carla Houston

@Melissa: I wish I could quit this show too. I tried once, and it kept dragging me back in. I stopped fighting it (for now, anyway), and at the end of each summer I say “Mea Culpa” and move on to something else. Bring it on, CBS!

    • JD

if i have to see Jesse, Natalie, Rachel, AND Brendan, and the third pair is Hayden and Enzo, i will finally be able to quit! i can’t watch those 4 without one of the more decent pairs getting in to. i refuse to support CBS’s insistence of throwing Jesse down our throats every year.
