'The Voice': What's with Christina Aguilera's obsession with Patrick Thomas and his trousers?

Who does Christina Aguilera think she is, Bruno Tonioli? The Voice judge can’t seem to hold back the risque comments. She’s now asked country singer Patrick Thomas, who is 20, to take his pants off three times.

It first happened earlier in the season, when the pop star asked Thomas to remove his cowboy hat before following up a compliment about his good lucks and the request, “Can you take your pants off?” She repeated her drop-trou-desire twice on Tuesday after he sang Lee Ann Womack’s “I Hope You Dance.”

“You’re a cutie pie,” she told him during the live show. “I’m still waiting for you to take your pants off.”

EW caught up with Thomas after the show and asked what he thought of Aguilera’s comments. “Yeah. I still don’t know what to say. I did blush and I am blushing. I told her off camera, the first time she said it, that’s a fluke. The second time, we’re kind of verging on a pattern. I said if it happens again, I’m going to have to start flirting back.”

Frenchie Davis on 'The Voice': 'I know I'm not an Idol'

Frenchie Davis doesn’t like the word redemption because, as she is quick to point out, she has nothing to redeem herself for. But redemption was the name of the game Tuesday when the former American Idol contestant – who got booted from season two for having previously posed for sexy photos – showed millions of viewers what they missed out on when she brought down the house during the first live show of NBC’s The Voice.

She closed the show with David Guetta’s “When Love Takes Over.”

“Some people might see it that way,” Davis told reporters when asked if she felt like she redeemed herself. “I personally don’t think I have anything to redeem myself from. But it’s definitely a chance to enlighten people who maybe were not Frenchie enlightened before and share my gift with a whole part of the world that I’ve never been able to share it with. And, hey, Cee-Lo Green’s a fan now. Hello!” READ FULL STORY »

'The Voice': What you didn't see on the live show

The excitement was high and the energy was raging at the first live show of The Voice, which was held on the Warner Bros. lot in Burbank, CA.  There was also some confusion, as the most overheard question among the gaggle of fans lucky enough to score tickets was, “What happens tonight? Who’s performing?”

“I don’t care, I’m just excited to see Christina Aguilera,” interjected one 20-something female fan with red and black striped hair. My thoughts exactly. The team selections were over. The battle rounds were won and lost. Granted, I had no  had no idea what was to come Tuesday night but I didn’t care. It was just fun to see what is arguably the most talented crop of hopefuls and coaches to hit the small screen — at least on NBC. READ FULL STORY »

Another key member of the Las Vegas investigative team is stepping out from behind the yellow tape. EW has confirmed that Laurence Fishburne, who joined the show more than two years ago in an attempt to fill the void left by William Petersen, will not return to CSI this fall.

Fishburne’s contract, like many of his co-stars, expired after the season 11 finale in May. In an interview with EW,  the film actor indicated that he wanted to return for another year as Dr. Raymond Langston. ”I’m having a great time,” he says, while acknowledging that it was a challenge replacing Petersen’s Grissom. Charlie Sheen's mansion is for sale. Is he broke?

Other than his response to Ashton Kutcher’s hire on Two and a Half Men, we haven’t heard much from Charlie Sheen and what his plans are now that he’s not returning to CBS this fall. But that doesn’t mean the 45-year-old actor isn’t looking to make a major life change: Sheen has listed his 7,924-square-foot house in Beverly Hills for $7.2 million.

Up until a year ago, the public wasn’t familiar with Sheen’s Mediterranean-style mansion with five bedrooms, seven bathrooms, a swimming pool, and a spa. But then a certain porn star (or two, or three) came over to his place to party and suddenly his home in a hilltop gated community became a huge source of intrigue, especially since he ended up using it as his personal rehabilitation facility — a.k.a. Sober Valley Lodge — rather than leaving Los Angeles to seek help at a reputable treatment center.

But why is he selling? The house definitely has its share of bad mojo (see: the above paragraph) but there could be more important reasons to warrant a sale. Sheen’s lifestyle doesn’t come cheap; on top of the private jets, high-priced companions, and his other extracurricular activities, the actor still pays a reported $1.3 million combined to support his two ex-wives and four small children. He may have worked as the highest paid sitcom star in TV by raking in $2 million an episode, but that salary is now gone. And his multi-city road show this spring was a short-lived, and no doubt a relatively meager source of income. READ FULL STORY »

Jane Lynch talks hosting this year's Emmys: 'I'm quite calm about it'

Last week, it became official that Glee star Jane Lynch would host this year’s Emmy Awards, airing Sept. 18 on Fox. So how did the actress, who herself won an Emmy last year for playing Glee‘s Sue Sylvester, land such a high-profile gig? “I was on a plane after Upfronts and [producer] Mark Burnett was on the plane as well,” Lynch tells EW. “He came up to me and said, ‘I’m producing the Emmys and you’re my first choice.’ And I said, ‘Wow! Okay!’ [Laughs] Then I went on vacation with [wife] Lara — we went to Bora Bora. We got an email from Mark Burnett saying, ‘I’m officially asking you to be the host.’ And I said, ‘Yes!’”

Lynch says she’s taking pointers from last year’s host Jimmy Fallon. READ FULL STORY »

It’s the bottom of the ninth, the eighteenth hole, the fifth set, or whatever the heck the end of a water polo match is called. What we’re trying to say is: tonight at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT, Comedy Central airs this season’s final installment of Sports Show with Norm Macdonald, a feisty faux news program in which the Canadian-born comedian pays tribute to the week in sports by kneeing it in the junk. Never a man to toot his own horn, Macdonald gave EW five compelling reasons not to watch his show.

1.      Don’t watch if you only have an hour to live. Tell your children you love them instead. READ FULL STORY »

NBC keeps the Olympics until 2020

Categories: TV Biz

It will set Comcast back a reported $4 billion, but the parent company of NBC managed to keep the Olympics on the network until 2020. That means the Peacock will air the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi, Russia, the 2016 Summer Games in Rio de Janeiro, and the next two Olympics after that, according to The Associated Press.

ESPN also bid for the 2014 and 2016 Games, as did Fox.

Eight years ago, NBC said yes to forking over $2 billion to air last year’s Winter Games in Vancouver and next year’s Summer Games in London.

'Game of Thrones' hits ratings high

Categories: TV Ratings

Another bloody good performance for HBO’s Game of Thrones on Sunday: The 9 p.m. airing averaged 2.7 million viewers, up 22 percent since the series premiere. If you count the additional 900,000 people who tuned in two hours later, GOT lured 3.6 million viewers for the night. Sweet.

Season to date, GOT has an average gross audience (linear plays, DVR and HBO On Demand) of 8.3 million viewers.

Charlie Sheen did not submit name for Emmys

Holland-Taylor

Looks like Charlie Sheen won’t be doing a lot of #winning at the Emmy Awards.

Because he did not submit his name for consideration in time for the deadline, former Two and a Half Men star Charlie Sheen will be ineligible for any awards at the next Emmy Awards ceremony.

Sheen, a four-time nominee in the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series category, was given several opportunities to submit and was even given an extension, according to Academy sources. The actor’s co-stars Jon Cryer, Angus T. Young, and Holland Taylor all submitted their names, as did guest star Jane Lynch.

Last week, it was announced that the show would not be competing for a nomination in the Outstanding Comedy category.
