These ain’t no desperate housewives: CMT has ordered a new docu-soap reality show about ambitious young working women in Texas.

In the upcoming Texas Women, a quartet of friends work in the rodeo and country music scene by day and party by night in the Lone Star State. There’s a competitive barrel racer (if you don’t know what that is, you haven’t been to enough rodeos), a part-time barrel racer, a stock contractor, and an aspiring singer.

“They’re kick ass. They can fight like cats on a Saturday night, then wake-up Sunday, apologize, and go to church together,” says Jayson Dinsmore, CMT’s executive vp of development.

CMT has picked up eight one-hour episodes of the show for July 14 debut. And here’s something rare: Normally series announcements never have trailers ready yet, but we have one for Texas Women (and that title could still change, btw). Here it is: READ FULL STORY »

'Game of Thrones' producers talk Jason Momoa's big fight in Episode 8

Sunday’s episode of Game of Thrones contained an unexpected treat for fans of George R. R. Martin’s novel when menacing Dotharki horse lord Khal Drogo entered into a life-and-death brawl for leadership of his tribe.

The added scene gave actor Jason Momoa, who’s also pumping up another iconic muscle-bound warrior this summer in the Conan the Barbarian reboot, a chance to show why Drogo is so feared. Showrunners Dan Weiss and David Benioff tell EW this addition to the first season of Thrones was actually Momoa’s idea — but it took awhile for the actor to talk them into it. READ FULL STORY »

Tonight marks the return of  A&E’s answer to summer TV, and after a 13-episode first season, fans can expect more of what they grew to love about The Glades, says the shows Aussie star Matt Passmore, who plays transplant Det. Jim Longworth. “I think the show is nice, light, and escapist. It’s got a fun touch for a very dark subject,” he says. “Especially on a Sunday night when you’re about to head into another big week of work, I think it’s nice to just sit back and watch the way these characters move through the space with a light touch. And a fun touch.”

In a chat with EW, Passmore talks more about what fans can expect from the second season, premiering tonight.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: Why do you think The Glades is a good fit for summer TV?
I think the audience can relate in the summer. It’s beautiful surroundings, and I think not only in America but a lot of the world, there is a fascination with Florida. It’s got such a glossy exterior and such a dark interior. It’s like, you scratch below the surface, and you start coming up with the muck. So behind every bikini babe is an alligator. There’s not many places in America that you can have that kind of juxtaposition in. You start putting murder stories around that, it makes for a lot of very interesting circumstances.

And on this show, the bikini babe gets eaten by the alligator. READ FULL STORY »

Roundabout! Cheryl Cole offered 'X Factor' job back

The biggest X Factor in Fox’s version of the UK hit has been Brit singer Cheryl Cole, who was originally announced as part of the show’s judging panel last month, then was seemingly booted off, and is now being offered a role on the show again.

Here’s what we’re being told happened: Cole signed up with U.S. version of X Factor and participated in the early judging rounds. What went down next is the subject of some dispute, but one U.S.-based executive involved in the matter tells EW that Cole “wasn’t quite herself” during her four days of filming, potentially due to nerves or just feeling out of her environment with the new show.

Some reports have made it sound like U.S. producers basically booted Cole from the show because they were unhappy with her performance. Our source says was more consensual.

“After the Chicago auditions, producers suggested she might be happier returning to the UK panel and her management clearly indicated she’d be happy to consider that,” a source says. “It wasn’t meant to be the case she was ‘being fired.’ She was offered an alternative [to work on the UK version] for more money where they thought she might be happier.” READ FULL STORY »

My friends and family often give me a hard time about my not-so-normal eating choices, but after watching Freaky Eaters I know I’m certainly not alone. Similar to another TLC series, My Strange Addiction, each episode of Freaky Eaters follows someone with a bizarre compulsion toward a particular food. Or Camelot? Or Borgias? Or Treme?

We’ve been obsessively tracking Game of Thrones ratings, but what some of the other cable dramas? Are you still wondering who killed Rosie Larson or do you just want Sarah to go to California with that guy so she can get out of the rain? Here’s how some of the field has been performing, whether each show has been renewed or not, and how each show is trending:

HBO’s Game of Thrones 2.4 million average; numbers somewhat steady through season (Renewed!)

AMC’s The Killing 2.2 million average; ratings took a serious dive after the show’s big premiere, then again after the fourth episode, but have held steady since then, averaging around 1.9 million (No decision yet, but these are still decent numbers for AMC)

Starz’ Camelot 917,000 average; sort of holding steady since second episode (No decision yet) READ FULL STORY »
