Season 3 of Lifetime’s Drop Dead Diva, which premiered June 19, has already featured guest spots from the likes of Paula Abdul, Wendy Williams, and LeAnn Rimes. But it’s about to get even starrier: EW has exclusively learned that Mary Tyler Moore star Valerie Harper is on the dramedy’s Atlanta set today, shooting a guest spot for an episode that will air Sept. 11.

Like many guest stars before her, Harper will play a judge on the show. Specifically, she’s Leslie Singer, a smart, no-nonsense judge who’s presiding over Jane (Brooke Elliott) in the courtroom. The case finds Jane representing a notorious bridezilla who is suing for injuries sustained after a bridal-sale stampede — but judge Singer throws out some evidence, which causes Jane to have to get creative.

Nick orders second season of 'House of Anubis'

Think tweens aren’t into telenovelas? Think again: Nickelodeon’s wildly popular live-action drama House of Anubis has been picked up for a second season after posting impressive numbers in its first year.

The live-action show, already an established hit for Nick in Europe, averaged 1.2 million kids ages 6-11 and 1.0 million tweens ages 9-14 when it aired five nights a week during its January and February run. Talk about a hit with the Clearasil set: The show beat Glee, Pretty Little Liars, and Gossip Girl among all kids and tweens.

House of Anubis follows a group of students who uncover and solve hidden mysteries at an English boarding school, while dealing with the highs and lows of their teenage years.  In season 2, the teens undertake a series of challenges to find a powerful and long-forgotten treasure.

Production on the next 45 half-hour episodes will begin July 21 in Liverpool, England — where the show was taped last season. New episodes will premiere in 2012.

'The Voice': What you didn't see on TV

Right before the start of Tuesday’s penultimate episode of The Voice, Adam Levine summed up the vibe of the amped-up crowd when he enthusiastically shouted  “Let’s get drunk!” The hundreds and hundreds of Californians (not to mention a British couple who happened to sit by me and a bunch of Montana teens) who packed the 7th circle of Hell  a very hot Studio 16 on the Warner Bros. lot seemed thrilled to see their idols perform live, and I’m not just talking about the ones in the red swivel chairs. Javier Colon, Dia Frampton,Vicci Martinez, and Beverly McClellan have already become downloaded stars in their own right, and the fact the finalists would be singing with their coaches made the whole thing a lot more fun to witness for pretty much everyone except Christina Aguilera. But more on her later. READ FULL STORY »

'Lost' vet to help produce Fox's 'Alcatraz'

As if Alcatraz didn’t have enough of a Lost pedigree, the Fox show has tapped Jack Bender to join the show as executive producer and director. Bender directed many of the biggest episodes of Lost — 36 of them, according to IMDb, including the finale. He rejoins former Lost producers J.J. Abrams, Elizabeth Sarnoff and Bryan Burk on the show which, as you recall, co-stars Jorge Garcia (a.k.a. Hurley). But can the show reproduce the success of the ABC hit? The pilot — about former inmates who disappeared 50 years ago coming back into modern day San Francisco and committing crimes — feels closer to the first episode of Fringe than that other island adventure.

'Breaking Bad': Take a peek at season 4

Categories: Breaking Bad

Though the first episode of Breaking Bad’s fourth season won’t hit your TV sets until July 17 (19 days from now!), AMC knows that you’re jonesing for a taste. That’s why the network has released a three-minute preview video that offers clips from the upcoming action and interviews with key cast members. We are told by Bryan Cranston (a.k.a. chemistry teacher-turned-meth king Walter White) that the focus this year is on “Walt owning this new man, accepting that he is capable of doing these heinous things that come up throughout season 4 for him to survive. There’s nothing boring about Walter White’s life now.”

Meanwhile, Aaron Paul (Walt’s partner, Jesse Pinkman, sporting a shaved head) notes that the season “starts off at a full sprint” and that Jesse is in a “very dark, sad, distant place.” The video is worth the watch if only to hear Giancarlo Esposito (drug and poultry lord Gus Fring) laugh while warning: “All I can say is just wait and watch and hang on to the edge of your seat… because it’s coming. All of it’s coming.” Check out the clip below:  READ FULL STORY »

Let’s briefly interrupt our True Blood, Bachelorette, and singing shows coverage to focus on all of that wholesome stuff the kids are watching. InsideTV parents and babysitters alike have probably heard of Nickelodeon’s resident heartthrob Drake Bell, the floppy-haired actor/musician with enough Kids’ Choice Awards to fill the lengthiest of mantels. The former Drake & Josh star is set to star in the July 9 live-action version of the network’s long-running cartoon, The Fairly OddParents. Entertainment Weekly spoke to Bell about growing up, his burgeoning music career, and bringing one of Nickelodeon’s most iconic cartoons to life.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: Can you give us a basic rundown of A Fairly Odd Movie?
DRAKE BELL: We are bringing the cartoon to life! The story takes place in the future, which is interesting. Timmy is now a grown-up, he’s 23 years old, and he is doing everything he can to stay a kid so he doesn’t lose his godparents. When you grow up or you fall in love, then you lose your fairy godparents. He’s doing whatever he can to stay at home. He rides his bike to school, and he’s still in the fifth grade even though he’s 23. READ FULL STORY »

Should 'Men' kill off Charlie Sheen's character?

charlie-sheen-lying-down

Regrettably, the studio behind Two and a Half Men had no comment about a report suggesting that Charlie Harper — a.k.a. the hedonistic character played by Charlie Sheen — will be killed off in the premiere episode of the CBS comedy this fall to make way for the introduction of Ashton Kutcher. (Specifically, Charlie may drive his car off of a cliff.)

Though TMZ hedges that the “first script isn’t locked” and that creator Chuck Lorre “often makes changes until close to taping,” it’s entirely possible that Men will want to wipe the slate clean. Nothing says good riddance to an ugly chapter in a show’s life than offing a character for good. READ FULL STORY »

'True Blood' premiere ratings are bloody good

Categories: True Blood, TV Ratings

The love for hot vampires is stronger than ever: The fourth season premiere of True Blood Sunday matched its series high performance of 5.4 million viewers. It also improved upon its season 3 debut by 6 percent.

The rebroadcast at 11 p.m. added an additional one million viewers for a combined 6.4 million viewers on Sunday. Viewership levels will no doubt build over the next few episodes, especially since fans expect Eric (Alexander Skarsgard) and Sookie (Anna Paquin) to hook up in the shower this season.
