Hawaii Five-0 has landed another well-known actor for its second season: Tom Sizemore is joining the CBS action-drama as a the head of Internal Affairs for a multi-episode arc.

The tough-guy performer best known for Saving Private Ryan, Red and Black Hawk Down will play a former Detroit Homicide Detective turned head of Hawaii police’s IA unit. After the events of last season, he is actively investigating the Five-0 unit and he’s not cutting them any slack (despite our heroes having the support of the new Governor).

The casting comes on the heels of Lost star Terry O’Quinn signing onto the series last week in a recurring role as a Navy Seal Lt. Commander who trained Steve McGarrett (Alex O’Loughlin).

Hawaii launched strong last fall and represented one of the few freshman shows to earn a second season. The cast additions could help bolster interest in the series this fall as it continues airing in its competitive Monday night period.

It looks like NBC’s The Voice is about to (wisely) steal a page from American Idol by sending its contestants on tour. Nothing’s announced yet, but coach Adam Levine sent out this tweet: “@Javstwtr [i.e. Javier Colon] and @casey_weston are hitting the road in July for #TheVoice Live On Tour. Go check them out. You can thank me later.”

The Voice ends its first season run on Wednesday. Developing…

Law & Order: SVU has found two new detectives: Kelli Giddish and Danny Pino will join the show as series regulars.

Giddish starred on NBC’s short-lived Chase and has also appeared on The Good Wife. Pino starred for seven seasons on Cold Case. The duo join the show as it enters its 13th season.

The hires come in the wake of Chris Meloni leaving the show. They also provide a potential replacement, of sorts, for Mariska Hargitay — who will maintain a presence on the show all season long, but may not and who will appear in every episode. The network is also leaving open the possibility of more L&O: SVU cast changes (naturally!). So EW readers, this new team, what say you: Better? Worse?

'The Glee Project' Exit Q&A: This week's eliminated contestant admits, 'I had a breakdown'

Andrew Eccles/Oxygen

SPOILER ALERT! If you have not seen last night’s Glee Project: the judges sent home 22 year-old Emily Vasquez after a challenge centered around “Vulnerability.” Each contestant had to reveal something about themselves and New York native Vasquez said that she had been “used” by music producers in the industry. She says that she watched the episode in advance with her parents to prep them for the emotional hour. “I had a breakdown because I was with my family and the reality of my vulnerability,” says Vasquez. “I’m like, What I have I done? I had to. I think it was a good message for young girls especially because there are a lot of sharks out there.” EW talked to Vasquez about the competition and what’s next for the hopeful star.  READ FULL STORY »

Breaking news: Jeff Probst of 'Survivor' to host talk show in fall 2012

Survivor host and three-time Emmy winner Jeff Probst has closed a deal with CBS TV Distribution to host a one-hour daytime talk show starting in fall 2012. He joins an ever-growing pack of celebs (Katie Couric and Ricki Lake, among them) looking to fill the void in daytime now that Oprah Winfrey has departed.

“I’m fascinated with human nature and thrilled that this show will allow me the opportunity to connect with real people and explore their stories on a personal level,” Probst said in a statement. “As I continue with Survivor, I am excited to extend my relationship with CBS with this new adventure in the world of daytime.” Probst has talk show experience, filling in for both Regis Philbin on Live With Regis and Kelly and Larry King on Larry King Live. The new show will cover everything from newsmakers to ordinary families in extraordinary circumstances.

With Survivor now filming its 23rd and 24th seasons in Samoa, many have wondered how long that show will continue. Since the program now films both of its installments during the summer, Probst could pull double duty and continue to host the reality franchise into fall 2012 and beyond while also doing his new talk show. Or, the still untitled new venture could end up being his transition off the island.

TNT's 'Falling Skies' ratings drop for episode 2

Categories: TV Ratings

But not by as much as you might think.

TNT’s Falling Skies on Sunday was down 29 percent from its premiere. About 4.2 million viewers tuned in, along with 1.9 million viewers in the adult demo. Considering the Skies debut was the most-watched new cable show this year (and took a fair amount of flack from readers), this is still a strong number. TNT says the show “is expected to settle in over the next couple of weeks as the series finds its regular fan base.” Meanwhile, the fourth-season premiere of Leverage garnered 3.4 million, which is up 10 percent from its premiere last year.

Quantrell D.Colbert/VH1

On the July 4 episode of Vh1′s Single Ladies, Queen Latifah will pop up as Sharon Love, an old college roommate of Val (Stacey Dash). Sharon is now a TV anchor and reveals a very surprising secret about Val on air (Latifah then returns for the July 11 episode). “I don’t wanna give it away too much,” says series creator Stacy A. Littlejohn. “I will say it’s the concept of ‘What happens in college, stays in college.’ So I think you can read between the lines there. But we thought it would be fun to have her come on and make a big splash on the show.” Latifah told EW in April that her guest-spot was, “gonna be a little controversial and very funny.”

Hmmm. Interesting. While Littlejohn and Latifah are coy about the big reveal, watch this exclusive promo below to find out the provocative Single Ladies twist… READ FULL STORY »
