Charlie Sheen absorbed some good ribbing from the Roastmaster General, Jeff Ross, during his recent live tour, but now, the former Two and Half Men actor is prepared for the full roast treatment. Comedy Central announced today that Sheen will be the main course at the Comedy Central Roast of Charlie Sheen. “You could say I’ve been providing kindling for this roast for a while,” said Sheen, in a statement. “It’s time to light it up. It’s going to be epic.”

“Charlie has assured us that nothing will be off limits in this Roast… which scares even us,” said Kent Alterman, Comedy Central’s head of original programming and production.

The Roast will tape in Los Angeles on Sept. 10 and air on Sept. 19. Sept. 19? Sept. 19. Hmm, why Sept. 19? What else premieres on Sept. 19? Would you believe Two and a Half Men? Yup. Nice.

Love Charlie Sheen, he doesn’t take himself seriously, doesn’t give a f…K about other’s judgements..Refreshing and fun-loving, free-spirit he is.
    Go Charlie !!
Now i am looking forward to see his next acting projects (would love to see him come back to movies).

    • Matt

I dont know what happened to you in your life that you see Sheen’s spiral as some sort of empowering gesture of self-affirmation, but whatever it was, it obviously led to a build-up of bitterness and loathing.
I don’t know if he doesn’t care about people’s judgments, but its obvious he doesn’t care about their feelings or respect their points of view – praising someone’s unwillingness to exercise their empathy is INSANE, and I have no idea why this fringe percentage of society finds it to be “refreshing” – we’re not islands apart.
Doesn’t take himself seriously – I guess because he uses hyperbole (tiger blood, winning, etc etc) you think he’s just joking -he obviously has an inflated sense of himself. He almost halted an entire production b/c of his hurt feelings.
Finally: fee-spirit? The man is being taken down by his demons, temper and addictions, and you want to couch it in terms of freedom, that this widely-beloved millionaire is somehow throwing off shackles.
Yes, if you’re full of bitterness and resentment from watching other celebrities’ success, then yes, his case is “refreshing” – but only a troll would call it that. Look at him – he looks like a zombie, he’s killing himself. So other celebrities are kind of bland and sometimes parse their words – is your annoyance with that p.c. stuff worth cheering on Charlie Sheen’s opposite behavior, even though it’s destroying him?

I don’t know what happened in your life to make you write such a long winded and rambling opinion.

      • Benlinus

        @ Matt TLDR . . . Looooooooosing

      • Sugar

@DGH – I thnk what has happened in Matt’s life is extensive education and a wealth of experience. There was nothing rambling at all in his opinion. I think the real problem may be that you are one of the fringe percentage of society who admires this creepy, very sick man known as Charlie Sheen.

      • JohnLocke

@ Benlinus- No, no, no… You’re just too stupid to figure out Matt is right.

      • Isembard

Matt, I think I have a crush on you. Yours was the perfect response to that idiot.

      • cueball

jesus christ you people are boring.

      • Veronica Mars

I never could really stand Charlie Sheen and the doooshtrain who made the first comment solidified my opinion.
But after reading’s Matt’s sanctimonious long-winded rant, I’m joining the Sheen bandwagon. If only to not be so so boring.

      • Troydan

Matt had enough time to type that between waiting for his warcraft raid to start

      • Christopher

Matt, that nailed it. Ignore these idiots. They’re so used to the media raising a person to a celebrity to see them fall down, they are trying to make it happen themselves. Sort of like exalting someone’s class during the French Revolution just to see them beheaded. They don’t actually give a damn about Sheen anyways.

      • djwazu

        Who the fk is Matt?
You’re right we/Sheen don’t care about about people’s judgments, save it for the other robots like yourself! You will never ever get it. Were not like you don’t want to be like you and never will be like you. Furthermore this country was created and maintain to this day on the backs of people like Sheen!
On Sept 19 I’ll be watching Sheen’s roast on Comedy Central right after John Stewart, lol

      • helpermonkey

I’d love to leave an equally verbose response, but alas, I must take my beagle out for his morning Matt.

      • Noah

Lighten up buddy and lay off the “pop” psychology books.

      • tom

You’re nothing Matt. You’ll never be anything. So shut up and get a job.

      • JT

“Furthermore this country was created and maintain to this day on the backs of people like Sheen!”
Are you sharing drugs with Charlie? Please stop saying ludicrous things like this. Get your GED before you post again.

      • nachokingp

@Matt, I think you need to realize that Charlie Sheen’s recent escapades are not all as “spiraling” as you think. Charlie Sheen is brilliant. His entire demeanor is planned, he knows EXACTLY what he is doing and it’s all part of his plan. If you noticed, he’s still in the media and being paid attention to, even after leaving Two and a Half Men (and yes, he left, he just left in grand fashion).

      • playjojo

Well said Matt, probably the most coherent, rational post I’ve ever read on him. I also think part of charlie’s problem is he doesn’t KNOW how to take himself seriously. He so far gone, he’s just become a parody of himself.

      • Mr Derp

What spiral??? Why are people surprised by sheen??? They must have never seen his movies or interviews before. He is one of the few people in hollywood that is themselves on camera…

That said, I’ll be watching the Roast, at least you know it’ll be funny…

      • Mimi

        Matt, you rock.

      • Mike

        Go Back To Work!

      • Doglet

Oh please. Yeah, you know all about the workings of the human mind especially Sheens, to judge that he is “spiralling” anywhere. I bet you’re not even remotely happy in your life. So quit projecting and wanting everyone else to be miserable too. GO CHARLIE.

      • anonymous

For once, someone intelligent enough to see beyond this jackhole’s pathetic ramblings. I wouldn’t be surprised if Sheen puts himself into the grave because he’s such a “winner.”

      • Brad W.

This is what Charlie is good at… getting a bunch of sanctimonious douche-bags like yourselves to fight over him. Winning!

      • David

No doubt. I have noticed that those with a bad deck that’s been dealt tend to ramble in walls of text. While others with friends are too busy living (winning whatever you want to call it). Get a grip gt laid whatever..

      • vincent bryant

oh lighten up, if u don’t like it change the channel. like u don’t have a few chains in YOUR closet… GO CHARLIE!!!

      • David

@ Troydan – Matt says stop cybering with your boyfriend and get on the stick! Yall have dargons to down.

      • vincent

@Matt,DGH And all others that apply. Its not a matter wether any one agrees with what he is doing. the real issue is that it’s his life. and he is doing whatever he wants and when he wants, and he’s saying if you don’t like it,KISS. Get a life of your own. Regardless of your opinion, he rich, charming in his own way and he’s living the life that some us wish we could. GO ON CHARLIE, TELL THE WORLD@@@@@ Where the sun don’t shine..

      • Roy

Just thought I would say that it sounds as though you are taking the “Charlie” stance as you have name called and passed judgement on someone speaking on this forum. Winning!

      • Bob U

@DGH: Perhaps you’re not accustomed to someone making intelligent and thoughtful comments that make perfect sense. Thanks for the response, Matt.

      • Ms XX Fast

Matt, I absolutely agree with you. Society has lost the ability of being empathetic and look to those who give not a rat’s a$$ about others’ feelings as their heroes. These are the same narcissists who might as well type “I need attention” as their Facebook status. Sheen being one of these people. Society has lost the ability to filter its most barbed comments as the offenders see those around them as ‘disposable’. People would rather click unfriend than deal with accountability for one’s actions, if they are even capable to experiencing emotion and empathy in the first place. Frankly, this is probably the second time I have ever even responded to an anonymous group over such a topic. However, I am quite sick of the rampant narcissism and lack of accountability overall. What bothers me most is that people tout the 1st amendment to defend their being a complete jerk to others and exercising their right to say whatever they wish without consequences. Those who idolize people such as Sheen, Tiger Woods, the entire Jersey Shore cast and the vast army of those who disrespect others to derive your own pleasure are among the dregs of society. If people would stop for one second and realize that they are not the center of the universe and that their time would be far better served helping others, there would be less of this type of behavior that has become accepted and even heralded. Those of you who have never actually volunteered locally or been to developing countries to build with your hands and provide food for others in need, or at the very least hold a door open for someone occasionally because you are too busy refreshing your Facebook and Twitter pages to care about anything but yourself should be ashamed. Sheen’s behavior does not really affect me on a personal level, however society’s de-evolution and the looming extinction of moral responsibility, does. Don’t be one of “those people”.

      • Tom

When was the last time you heard someone in Hollywood worry about Empathy, or Integrity? Matt is full of crap.

      • to Matt

I think YOU should be writing a column here. I would definitely read what you had to say – brilliantly put!

    • Dale

      Are you on crack too?

      • RevRon

All this emotional back & firth over an actor? Really??

    • ell l scott

I agree, Charlie is a very free spirit, so am I, who cares what people think. Who choose Ashton, he is too inmature and silly, not a sexy bone in his body.

  • Hoohah

It’ll be epic, man. Like duh, winning. I am the drug that is Charlie Sheen. I’m a ho…er, babe magnet. My Adonis DNA and tiger blood will make me rich, because I will do anything for a paycheck now that I’ve totally screwed my career, dude.

    • DGH

I’m sure with the residuals Charlie makes off 21/2 Men he won’t have to work another day in his life just keep collecting the checks. So I doubt he’s doing it for the money. Publicity…..yes Money………no

      • Obvious Man Says

wasn’t his family concerened not too long ago as he was blowing through money like it was air? residuals aren’t full paychecks, they get a percentage of the original pay for repeated airings and they start going down over time. with the number of channels airing 2 1/2 men, thos residuals will just be a residue in a few years.

      • to DGH

He needs money, fool– and lots of it, to maintain his lifestyle and support all his kids!

  • Janice

So at what point does the entertainment industry become culpable for enabling the trainwreck? Seriously – just let it go Hollywood.

    • Emily

ITA…just when you think things can’t be more pathetic…

      • Kimba

The reality of the situation is – yes Hollywood knew that Sheen had a problem, and they allowed it as long as it served the ppl who run the show.

  • Ryan Dunn’s Singed Beard

Did someone say something about getting roasted??!! ZING! BANG! WAKKA WAKKA!

    • I’m Ashamed

that I laughed at this – it’s still too soon dude.

      • Charlie

I just couldn’t help myself either.

  • jenny

Isn’t that what people have been doing for the past 6 months? The jokes have been done already.

  • Beauty

    Too easy.

  • ‘Lish

I guess that’s why they call it Holly_Weird.

  • Jim

    You go Charlie!!!!!
    I won’t miss this show.
Of course I will miss 2.5 man. No Charlie, no interested!

    • LD

I just hope Lisa Lampanelli is there. She isn’t nice to anyone, so she’ll make it worth watching.

      • DGH

Its not a official roast without Lisa.

      • OhYeah

Lisa Lampanelli is NOT funny. She is a useless addition to an otherwise funny lineup of comedians. Her over-the-top, “shock value” humor is not funny, and quite the opposite. I’ve heard one too many genitalia jokes from this old broad.

      • Troydan

no, she’s funny good try tho

      • Badeley-Bent

Gotta Love Lisa! No setup dialog needed for Lisa’s lines. Everything she says is hillarious.

    • djwazu

      Damn right!

  • duuuuuuude

    It’s a sled. Rosebud is a sled

  • Olivia

    This will not end well.

    • Jay

thats fine. as long as it Ends.

  • Jake

It would be epic if they could get Bree Olson on to roast Charlie about his sexual peccadilios.

  • Liz Lemon

    Ugh

  • (Not the) Matt (from the first reply.)

    Dear God/Satan/FSM/Whom It May Concern,

Can we please have Greg Giraldo back for one night so he can do this?

    • MDS

This was exactly my first thought.

    • Slimer80

TOTALLY! It’s not the same without Greg Giraldo!

      • Meier

If there is an afterlife, I’m sure he’s just so pleased they chose a celeb who’s on his way to meeting the same tragic end…
“What are you doing in that grave, Mr. Giraldo?”
        “Duh, SPINNING!”

  • Javadude54

At least Sheen didn’t say it was going to be gnarly. That’s a step in the right direction. As far as watching the roast…. I’ll pass.

  • Cass

    Sounds amazing.
