We’ve already heard word that Mariah Carey is expected to participate in Simon Cowell’s U.S. premiere season of The X Factor in some capacity. Now, sources are saying that Carey might stay on to mentor the contestants throughout the season.

A show insider told EW, “Mariah and Simon are great friends, and now [that] she has had her babies, it’s very possible that she will be involved [in] some way in the later stages of the show. She has always said she wanted to work with the show, so it’s something they will certainly be discussing ideas for soon.”

Cowell continues to express his desire for Carey to join the show, telling press, “I think Mariah will have a role on the TV live shows. I met her recently and she was on great form. And her idea was to be the judge of the judges, which only Mariah could come up with.”

He added, “She’ll be involved in some form. I literally adore her. I love her to bits.”

Already on board to judge the talent competition is Pussycat Dolls frontwoman Nicole Scherzinger, music mogul L.A. Reid, and Cowell’s former American Idol cohort Paula Abdul. The show premieres Sept. 21 on Fox.

I think she would be great. She has been in the business over 20 years. She sings, writes, produces. She has influenced a lot of artists.

She would be great, but I’d rather she work on another album than join something like this.

She’s good enough to be able to work on both projects.

All tinhgs considered, this is a first class post

If Simon Cowell doesn’t want this show to become a joke, he will keep the flaky self-serving narcissist, Mariah Carey far from it.

    • Angel

You need to check yoself… Mariah is far from a joke.

He should of made her a judge instead of cheryl or nicole.

“He should’ve”, A2; “He should have.”

Interesting how once upon a time, actual singers with actual careers would not touch any of these singing competitions with a ten-foot pole. But since J-lo’s singing career got a big boost thanks to AI (After a string of pre-AI flops, post AI, ON THE FLOOR became a 2-million-selling top five hit in the US and a # 1 hit in 18 countries)then Christina Aguilera became a fixture on the high-rated THE VOICE (and recently got a # 1 single on I-tunes, with a duet with Adam Levine) and now this. Expect other superstar singers whose careers are lukewarm to jump in the bandwagon…Janet and Madonna, it’s your call…

Mark my words, Madonna will not join any of these singing competitions… she’s above it. She’s been named a has-been several times in the past and has never resorted to these shows. She did the Marriage Ref as a favor to both Jerry Seinfeld and Ricky Gervais.

But janet will join something to promote whatever work she puts out.

    LOVE MC!

Watch out Mariah, if don’t do what they want they won’t tell you but will instead just fire you…ask Cheryl Cole.

I get the feeling that, now with the twins’ birth, Mariah will “change her tune” going forward.
She has recorded a duet with the great Tony Bennett–of all people. Now with participation on “X-Factor,” this is a new Mariah. It could be a good thing.

Thanks for a very interesting web site. What else may I get that kind of info werttin in such an ideal means? I have a challenge that I am just now running on, and I have been at the look out for such information. I’ve bookmarked your site: and will check back often. Thanks for the great article!

Why all women? Not all singers strive to be Mariah, Madonna, Janet, Christina, Paula, JLo. It’s all one type of music. Last I checked, there are many types out there that make money. Also Christina made it perfectly clear she is only interested in one type of music and working with only women. That was weak.

Mariah would be great on x factor!

Now that’s a Superstar Diva! What about Madonna tho? That would be the Cat’s Meow! I look 4ward 2 it now that the bris gone & a real American female Star is in it…

Sinatta would be a better mentor-what does “Me-Me” know about the business -really? how to screw and then completely hogwash and marry the record producer who is 20 year older so he launches the biggest and most expensive PR campaign ever for a over rated udder swinging stripper turned “popstar”-sure she can tell them how to screw yourself to the top while pretending it’s your “voice” is making you succesful-but that is all lies and ME-Me’s delusional world of glitter and unicorns-she really is going down hill like a rocket without Tommy and her looks are gone as well-to bad you married the illusion based on 20 year old photos Nick-the real thing is pretty much a whining over rated hag that thinks she is cute when she talks like a baby to get her way-good luck with that-hope you got some strange in Tahoe this weekend

LOVE MC! Although I don’t think she should stick with putting out a bombass album and getting back to the scene!
