Nancy Grace may not have secured a murder conviction for Casey Anthony, but she sure did lock up some big ratings.
The controversial legal pundit had her largest audience and best ratings ever on Tuesday night following the surprising Anthony verdict, which ruled that the Florida mom was not guilty of killing her daughter Caylee.
Nancy Grace’s show won 8 p.m. with 2.9 million viewers and 1.3 million in the demo — the highest ratings ever for Grace among total audience and the demo. The performance beat the usual time period winner, Fox News’ O’Reilly Factor (747,000 in the demo). She was also No. 1 at 9 p.m. in the demo with 2.2 million and 909,000.
Yet Fox News edged out a victory among total viewers across primetime, the average audience breakdown going like this: Fox News (2.3 million), HLN (2.1 million), CNN (1.1 million), MSNBC (868,000). When the verdict was read Tuesday afternoon, HLN spiked to 5.2 million viewers (compared to 2.9 million on Fox News and 920,000 for MSNBC).

I think Nancy Grace is insufferable, but I tuned into her show last night with hopes of seeing an epic meltdown, to be honest.

Cecil’s abortion comment is interesting—during the post-trial interviews, I wonder if someone will ask if the girl wanted to abort and the parents talked her out of it? Or she kept the child and the parents wanted her to abort? Or they were all pro-life. Their religious beliefs were never explored, which I thought was odd.

@LISA G actually, they don’t think she’s innocent, as they have stated several times. They acquitted her, on the grounds that there was not enough evidence to prove how the child died or who could have feasibly done it. Thus, they don’t think she’s innocent, they just can’t convict her if they don’t know for certain. it’s obvious casey is guilty; she just got lucky that evidence was either destroyed or mishandled.

No the prosecutors didn’t provide a link between the mother and the child’s death. There doesn’t have to be a cause of death (see Laci Peterson.) But the case was really weak on intent. They should have given the option for involuntary manslaughter and the jury probably would have chosen that.
They did the right thing. We are innocent until proven guilty in the USA. If you want it the other way around, move to Iran. The cops wouldn’t walk their lazy asses 30 feet into the woods the first time Kronk called them. If they had, this may have all turned out differently. The prosecutors presented absolutely no evidence that Casey committed murder or even abuse. The M.E. couldn’t even establish a cause of death. The most compelling evidence the state presented was a cartoon of tape superimposed over Caylee’s skull/face. Hardly what I would consider compelling evidence. I sure hope you never serve on a jury. Talk about dumb.

Because they don’t have the ability to think for themselves. Deciphering evidence, facts from lies, speculation from actual events… It’s just all too confusing and exhausting for them. So they just save time by letting Nancy or Oprah or Robin or Bill make up their minds for them. Then they start banging their drum and parroting everything their favorite jackass says.
She’s actually the big loser. It proves that a trial by press isn’t credible. She brought this case to the forefront of everyone’s minds and now she will have to answer all of her critics and peers who view her show as being sensationalistic and dangerous.
She ought to be chewing up the DA that tried this case. He majorly screwed it up. There wasnt hardly anything he presented that couldnt be countered with some reasonable doubt. I’m not sure what you were watching, but the last 2 weeks of the trial was all about how the prosecution ended their case without any strong evidence, motives, or viable theories, then the defense systematically picked apart the prosecution’s case. People need to remove their emotions of a little girl not getting justice, and realize what a bad case the prosecution presented.

Oh, Franky… I have been following this case for three years and watched every minute of the trial. Going into the trial, I thought Casey was toast. Once the trial began, my mind changed. If you want people to be convicted without evidence, move to some other country. The cops and the prosecution dropped the ball. They had no case. The jury follwed the letter of the law and found Casey guilty of what they could. Lying. Cartoons and speculation do not make good evidence.
