'Strike Back' teaser: Cinemax guns for '24' magic -- EXCLUSIVE VIDEO

For those 24 fans who’ve been hungering for some serious terrorist ass-kicking since Jack Bauer went into seclusion, help might finally be on the way. On Aug. 12, Cinemax premieres Strike Back, an original series about an American Special Forces op who teams up with a British military unit to take down a high-profile Pakistani terrorist. Animal Kingdom‘s Sullivan Stapleton and Fringe‘s Philip Winchester get to play rough, and the story couldn’t seem more timely, after the takedown of Osama bin Laden. Take a look.

Does it have that 24 pulse? At least one of its writer/directors (Frank Spotnitz) is from The X-Files, so Strike Back, which will run for 10 episodes, should at the very least have some great buddy-buddy chemistry.

Real original title(Chris Ryan’s Strike Back) -_-, but still it looks decent enough to give it a try.

It’s based on “Chris Ryan’s Strike Back” which aired in the UK

    I’ll be there!

    Count me in !!

I loved the first series with Richard Armitage but it seems he will not be in the new series very much (what with filming The Hobbit and all) – such a shame…I can’t see either of these two guys being as good.

An original series? ORIGINAL SERIES? Are you totally brain dead? Strike Back is a SKY TV production starring Richard Armitage that has already been broadcast in the UK so how in the name of all that is holy can it be an original series? American TV execs (who’s ignorance never ceases to amaze me) wouldn’t know an original concept if it came up through the lavatory and bit their arse (that’s right, spelled the correct ENGLISH way) while they were taking a dump. How long before you re-write television history and claim Torchwood & Doctor Who were original american series’ because they do very well in the ratings also?

Bloody Sergio, All I say is it better not be an all Yank affair and spoil it. The have did it to “Shameless” and “The Office”

sorry sorgio forgot the right in “bloody right”

It’s happened already. Torchwood over here is referred to as an “Original Starz Series”. It’s an absolute tragedy. Thankfully, me fellow Canucks are in a bit better position. Shows that do well here tend to just be picked up to air simultaneously down there.

It seems that the concept of semantics is lost on all of you who love to trash American values so much. Strike Back IS an original CINEMAX series in that it is original for the US on Cinemax; there’s nothing that touts the program as the first iteration universally. In fact, if you actually ventured to do the slightest bit of research, you would find that Cinemax doesn’t at all shy away from giving respect to the original Chris Ryan version.

    this looks awesome.

Hope philip winchester comes back to fringe after this. his character was really good and slotted in perfectly with the show.

  • Real1

    Right !

This isn’t an ‘original’ series. It’s about as ‘original’ to cinemax as Torchwood is to Starz.

The first series of Strike Back played in Britain and starred Richard Armitage.

This ‘original’ series is actually just the second series from a truly original show from Britain.

Britain: The home of American television.

This video has me really psyched for the show. Heard nothing but good things about the UK version, and really interested in seeing Philip Winchester in this lead role…plus there’s something about “Riot Rhythm” by Sleigh Bells (song in the 2nd trailer) that just gets me pumped!
