    very funny family show…

    • it can be at times

Its a decent show that I wanted to succeed but it just isn’t that funny. They are trying to hard to put Mel and Joe together, all the women Joe dates are clearly less attractive than Mel. Another of its many flaws are the kids and the fact that they rarely get used at all. If it were up to me, I would dump the show and restart “Brotherly Love” from the 90s starring the Lawrence Brothers.

      • it can be at times

a lot of people have called it “Whos the Boss?” rebooted, but there is very little chemistry between the two. Mel’s character is a jerk, the show would have worked better if she were sweeter. This show was a missed opportunity

I wonder what the other 2 Lawrence brothers look like now. All 3 of those guys were/are hot. They must have an awesome gym membership.

ABC Family needs to renewed MAKE IT OR BREAK IT for another season ’cause I need more DJ Tanner aka Candace Cameron Bure.

    • pass

no it does not, they should have renewed 10 things I hate about you or least give Lindsey Shaw a new show

      • Jason

I agree! They definitely should bring back “10 Things….” It was a very good show, and very funny. Forget “Make it or Break it”!

I love Make it or Break it also, but this past season Candace’s character came off as very judgmental which annoyed me and also I’m sick of Lauren getting away with everything while Emily and the other girls can’t catch a break…..I know it’s just a show but it annoys because it had the potential to be a really good show when it first started, but because of all those things it’s kind of becoming unmatchable, for me at least.

I thought this WAS the 2nd season… Didn’t it air last summer w/ the 1st season?

ABC Family runs their seasons weird.

They split up each season into to halves instead of just calling them separate seasons.

    • Dave

True. And the two halves air quite far apart. Didn’t the first half of this show air last summer? A whole year is too long a break in the midst of one season.

    It’s cute, I enjoy it

    Whoa!

I’m glad Joey Lawrence is finally growing his hair out. That funky scalp coloring they applied to his shaved head looked bizarre — it was hard to watch an episode without thinking, What is up with that freaky painted scalp??? In the new episodes where he’s growing it back, you can see they’ve colored his scalp again to hide his bald patches. Joey, if you’re bald, you’re bald, embrace it, baby! We’re all just staring at your pecs and hot arms anyway.

Shouldn’t he do his chores shirtless?

I really enjoy this show for what it is, and I’m not gonna berate it for what its not. It’s an ABC Family sitcom, not a harrowing docudrama on the History Channel. It’s good for a lame chuckle and contrived plot lines, but I almost feel that there are parts that are aimed more towards adults than their target demographic, which is just fine with me.

Well stated. Couldn’t agree more. I’m always pleasantly surprised by ABC Family shows and their willingness to add elements that appeal to ALL types of “families” regardless of age, etc.

Good news! I found this show by accident thanks to the recos on Hulu Plus. It’s become one of my summer guilty pleasures. Some of the negative posters here might want to dial it back a few notches and stop taking themselves so seriously. I worked at the now defunct Nick Studios in Orlando when “Clarissa Explains It All” was in production and Melissa Joan Hart was a delight. I’m happy to see her back in front of the camera having a great time with Lawrence and a great supporting cast. Save for the unfortunate casting switcheroo of Hart’s assistant (in the first half of season one) this is a great way to kick back and escape the summer heat for a bit.

I totally agree with Joey doing chores shirtless!!! And I enjoy the banter between the “family” members…It’s cute…NOT DROP DEAD FUNNY….but cute…

I absolutely LOVE Melissa and Joey. I missed the season but just finished watching it on netflix and I am hooked on it lol its very funny and entertaining. Love the chemistry that melissa and joey have, they alone bring the laughter and sparkle to the show. I’m really looking forward for the second season, if there will be one.
