Human Target star Mark Valley has set his sights on NBC’s Harry’s Law.
The chiseled actor is trading comic action for courtroom drama, becoming the latest star to sign onto the second season of the Kathy Bates series. Valley will be a series regular on the drama, playing one of Harriett “Harry” Korn’s new hot-shot attorneys hired in the wake of her rising profile as a defense attorney. He joins Broadway star Karen Olivo, who’ll play another new member of the legal eagle team. Valley previously had a role in David E. Kelley’s Boston Legal, then had a head-turning appearance on Fox’s Fringe that led to a starring role on Human Target, which lasted two seasons.
Also breaking: With a new governor coming into Hawaii Five-0, Jean Smart is signing onto Harry’s for a multi-episode arc. She’ll be the prosecutor going after an accused murderer played by Alfred Molina. All the Harry’s Law casting news is part of creator Kelley’s master plan to bolster the show in its second season. What do you think about Valley signing onto the legal drama?

This is so sad. He’s such a funny actor. Loved him on Fast Eddie years ago. I hope he’s not wasted in another courtroom drama!
Sorry, that was Keen Eddie.A show that didn’t get a fair chance.Damn you Fox executives.
oops, that’s right. Keen Eddie. Hilarious.
Human Target was incredible for the first season, a real guy’s show, then they screwed up royally for the second season when they added Ilsa Pucci – that move, and ditching the entire momentum of the first season is what destroyed it
Keen Eddie was AWESOME!!! It realy showed what a great actor Valley is.
Another Fox mess up…another great show no one has heard of because of FOX
Noooooo!!! OMG he is so wasted on that trash show thats only going to last 3 more months, arrrggghhh! He should be on a show like Supernatural or Ringer or the New Girl or anything else where he can play funny and charming, this really sucks
No mention that Mark Valley was on Mark Kelley’s last legal drama for a few years – Boston Legal?
It was mentioned in the second paragraph, “Valley previously had a role in David E. Kelley’s Boston Legal, then had ….”
Okay, I”m not crazy – when this was first posted, Boston Legal wasn’t mentioned. I read it three times because I was surprised it wasn’t mentioned. It just talked about Fringe and Human Target.
Who is Mark Kelly?
A sign of major confusion.
Mark Valley … David E. Kelley … small mix-up.
Mark Kelly is the keyboardist for Marillion
I LOVE HIM!!!! So happy!
I totally agree. I really enjoyed Harry’s Law last season, and hiring Mark Valley, Jean Smart and Alfred Molina is EXCELLENT casting. Can’t wait!
glad you agree with me, Kathy Bates is one off my favorites! This should be a kicker of a season, I love the show & am glad they got rid of the ditsy blonde & her dummy boyfriend, not being predjudiced, he was just as big of a bimbo as his gilr was!
Mark Valley should still be starring in Human Target!!!!!!!!!!
I agree 100% – stupid Fox!!!
I agree, as I’m glad Valley got a job….he was MADE for Human Target…or Human Target was made or him…..I was still hoping another network would pick up HT as FOX did nothing but show it disrespect…I guess this means HT has no “Chance” of making another network.
Totally agree that Human Target should still be on.
Yes it isYes it was one of my favorite shoes
I hope Kelley makes better use of him than he did on Boston Legal. He was so mistreated on that. His character was fantastic, so much fun, but they barely used him.
This only sucks because now I have to catch up on Harry’s Law, which I gave up on after 4 eps. But hey, I love lawyer shows, so what the hell, gotta try to like it again, for the sake of Mark, who I’ve loved since BL.
The only memory I have of Mark Valley on “Boston Legal” is when his character accidentally cut off a Priest’s fingers with an ax.
How about Halloween Party and dressing as one of two Buzz Lightyears. or dealing with Lincoln. May have referred to him as “the boy” but not sure.
I really enjoyed Human Target, too bad it was not renewed. I hope his role will help Harry. Too bad C. McBride won’t join him, really loved them together.
Harry’s Law is a good show, but needs better witters, hopefully Kelly will do something about it now that is trying to feed up the show and I find Mark Valley a good/wise choice. Good luck!
Darn. I love him, but don’t like that show. But now I have to watch it.
Same here. Harry’s Law is circling the drain. Run away, Mark. Run away. Human target was great, loved the chemistry of the 3 guys. Pucci screwed the pooch. Valley deserves better than HL.
I thought he was great on Human Target. So glad he is back on TV.
Loved Human Target, love Harry’s Law, now if they cast Jackie Earle Haley as Guerrero again I’ll be happy
That would be so great if they did. I’ll miss him the most. Dude.
Smart move. I gave up on Harry’s Law, but with him in it, I’ll give it another try. What they really need is better writing, though.
Love Mark Valley when he’s doing comedy and/or action. Not much of a fan of legal dramas especially when it comes with David Kelley.
Human Target n Keen Eddie. What the heck is wrong with Fox!?!
I loved Human Target and I will miss it, but glad to see him join Harry’s Law. Now they need better writers to match the good actors. Jackie Earle Haley should join Justified. He is great at whatever he does and those great writers could do a lot with him.
Justified! Only thing that will redeem the travesty of losing Human Target. Thanks, Sam.
Great idea! I hated the casting & plot changes that ruined “HT” despite the great chemistry w/ Valley, Haley and Chi McBride. But my brain just can’t accommodate yet another hackneyed drama about cops, doctors, or lawyers. Wish Hollywood would experiment more with other genres.
Dammit! I really wanted Valley’s character to be brought back to Fringe in some weird alt-universe way.
Yup
I hope he brings Guerero!
you got that right! I love Jacky Earl Haley! He could be utilized on so many shows, but on Justified, which is rapidly becoming one of my favorites along with Criminal minds & Fringe, he would add SO MUCH!
