Aww, what a cute way to celebrate The Big Bang Theory’s first Emmy nomination for best comedy. But that’s not why the Barenaked Ladies took a trip to the show’s Warner Bros. TV lot to shoot a full length version of the theme song. The video was actually made to help kick off the sitcom’s launch in syndication this fall (it will air five nights a week on TBS and stations across the country beginning Sept. 18).
A bit o’ history about the snappy tune in case you didn’t know: Theory creators Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady — who are fans of the band — asked Barenaked Ladies’ singer/guitarist Ed Robertson to pen a theme song for the sitcom as a “sort of history of everything … in about 32 seconds.” The rest, of course, is history.
Keep an eye out for Lorre picking the gee-tar.
I wonder if that really was Simon Helberg playing the keyboards. I’ve read that he’s a pretty good piano player.
This show blows. How it got an Emmy nomination over the likes of Community or It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia is beyond me. And now it’s going to be on 5 days a week? Ugh.

I love this show AND Community but while I would also like to see Community get some love, I would have taken off 30 Rock or Modern Family or Glee for it instead of BBang though, as I thought none of them had stellar seasons.
It’s a total celebration of Geekdom (I have a BSc and love me some SF&F) and if its occasionally lowbrow humour… eh.

The big words and the well written jokes of Big Bang go over some people’s heads.

The show is absolutely brilliant and perfectly cast. More importantly, it’s original and doesn’t copy anything else. As great as the show is, it appeals to the best in people, not the worst. Long live The Big Bang!

Did they really have to do the “hot girl needs to sleep with all of them” soap crap?
The best parts are funny stuff with Sheldon & Penny. It would have been alot more fun if the end game was hooking those two up. Of course thats not going to happen, in stead they will keep doing the push and pull with boring Leonard and Penny, sigh.
I love this show and I’m glad it finally got the Emmy nod! And the theme song is awesome, it’s so short and kinda perfect- it’s one of the only ones I don’t fast forward through. And yay syndication!
