'Bones' drops out of Comic-Con

Booth and Brennan won’t be sleuthing it out in San Diego this year: EW has confirmed that Fox‘s Bones will no longer have a panel at the 2011 Comic-Con. Stars David Boreanaz and Emily Deschanel were to join creator/exec producer Hart Hanson, and executive producer Stephen Nathan on Friday at 1:45 p.m. in the geek confab’s spacious Ballroom 20, but a rep for the show says Boreanaz and Deschanel pulled out of the panel “for personal reasons.” There will be no replacement panel from Fox.

interesting and eyebrow raising. i’m hoping for her its just that she’s pregnant and doesn’t want to deal with the crowds/excitement instead of something bad/sad/terrible.

    • Lincoln

Personal reasons in Hollywood = money, money, money. Their demands weren’t met, most likely.

      • Kate

Actually they just got to work on Season 7 this week and I heard that the schedule has been harder for ED than anticipated as she is so far along in her pregnancy. I’m betting that either they are both needed on set or that it is the pregnancy and DB is just saying he can’t go either so all the blame for canceling doesn’t fall on Emily.

    baby

No clue on whether the upcoming 7th season of BONES will be its last or go on with a Season 8 and make time for the spinoff THE FINDER come midseason.

  • JPX

Bones? That’s still on the air?

    • sdfds

      @JPX

What rock have you been living under?

      • calistoga

I’m one of the 10million still watching and have been since Day One! One of best-ever dramas on TV with perfect touches of comedy & romance!! I don’ ever want it to end!!!
Change some or alternating cast members (not DB or ED) wouldn’t hurt… ala the rotating interns. That was brilliant!

    • Chris

This show seems to be like One Tree Hill. It’s been on forever but who exactly is watching it?

      • Puhleeze

Just go back to watching whatever crap “reality” TV you’re addicted to. You don’t understand Bones because the characters speak in words of more than one syllable.

      • Realist

Just because someone doesn’t like Bones, it doesn’t automatically make them an idiot. Look at you; you like Bones, and you’re an idiot.

      • sfsd

        10 million+ Americans are watching.

      • Matt

When people watch a show, and decide eventually they don’t like it anymore, they become surly and insistent that other people don’t watch it either. That’s all this is. Lost got that a lot too.

      • Mena

Not really OTH. And lots of people are watching it,it’s Bones!

      • Lincoln

It seems silly but Bones is actually quite good and it’s one of the highest rated and respected TV series. I don’t watch it but I know a lot of people who do. It’s much beloved.

      • JPX

Exactly! I’ve never met a human being who watches this show. I’m not even aware of it on television.

      • Angelo Barovier

@Realist. I love you. That is all.

  • Lauren

But if it was really personal reasons…why would they both be involved? It makes me think it’s something bigger.

    • Leena

It’s probably because PERSONAL-ly, they weren’t satisfied with how they were being compensated.

  • Z

Why is Bones at Comic-Con anyway? I’m not trying to be a wiseass but I thought CC was for comics and sci-fi movies and TV shows. While I enjoy it, Bones is really just a procedural. I read somewhere that Glee is there too. Has it expanded to just any show that wants to host a panel?

    • Chris

Glee is totally sci-fi. Have you seen some of those kids at Mckinnely High? They can’t be human.

      • hehe

        good one, Chris.

      • Brett

I always refer to Chris Colfer’s character as the little gay robot. He’s like the son of Vicky from “Small Wonder.” One expression throughout the entire show.

      • Lily

As much as I love Glee and Chris Colfer, sometimes I just see it as a school fantasy with human emotions…

    • Abe Froman

You obviously have never been to Comic-Con. It’s more of a pop culture spectacular.

      • Brett

No, it’s really more of a comic-fantasy-scifi thing that Hollywood took over. Personally, I think they bailed because that hack Ausiello was moderating their panel. If only the cast of “Glee” would follow suit.

      • Z

Yes Brett thanks…that’s what I thought. And no Abe I have never been to CC, hence my question.

  • Alan Carver

I am going to say three fold:

    1. David B’s, scandal from earlier this year . . . why get questioned about that, right?

    2. Deschannels, pregnancy . . .

    3. Going to cancel after this season . . . which after 7 seasons ENOUGH!

    • six

David B. went to ComicCon last year a couple of months after the scandal broke, and just a few days after the second part of the scandal. He faced-off 4000 people, and 4000 people did welcome him and Emily and Hart. Nobody asked personal questions. Why would people ask them now, when it’s old news and he’s already got his family life back on track?
Oh, frak, you wanted to ask those questions, and you just missed you chance, did you? Maybe next year, dude. Oh, frak again: David and his wife have plans for their 10th anniversary in November… Bummer dude…

    • Rhonda T.

I love Bones, and I was looking forward to several more seasons. So was my Mom and sisters.

  • zuzufan

Bones and House need an end date already.

    • Mandy

Love both shows but I tend to agree, especially House. How many years can we deal with Hiouse’s drug addicted ways? I thought the show would get better with him and Cuddy finally together, but I was wrong; he’s back to taking his drugs again – kinda like Charlie Sheen.

  • xhio

They DO realize that people is coming from the other part of the world to see them, right?!? THEY CAN’T JUST CANCEL LIKE THAT!!!!
    I’m ULTRA mad!
I spent almost 1000$, mostly for Bones, dammit!!!!

    • Mark

Your grammar made my eyes bleed.

      • Mandy

Mark – English is NOT xhio’s primary language. Didn’t the “1000$” give you a hint?

    • Jennie

Scandal? What scandal? I kinda stopped paying attention to him after Angel got cancelled.

      • yeah

        Lame try

      • Two Headed Sex Beast

The scandal was written up in the Shanshu Prophecy. Look it up.

      • W Hart

Yeah, but I think he signed away his right to scandal protection, in his own blood

      • Eliese

I sorta think that I might love the last two posts.

      • TJCrinc

too bad. i was looking forward to him slaying a dragon.

      • Two Headed Sex Beast

Oh wait! It’s so obvious. Boreanaz was turned into a puppet!

  • TR

I have to agree with “Z”..not exactly Comic-Con material. Not sci-fi or comic book stuff.

I guess the producers of the event will host panels from anyone to boost attendance.
I predict next year there will be a huge panel with the cast of “The Middle”.

Attention folks…it’s JUST A COP SHOW.
    Get a life. :)

  • Jenn

I tend to agree: CC should be for actual comic, scifi, fantasy related shows movies and books, not just anybody who wants to buy booth space. They’re using a convenvenient crowd to sell their product/show.

    • Sam

Agree. It’s morphed into something out of control. Non sci-fi shows riding the coat-tails of loyal sci-fi, comic book shows with loyal and strong fanbases. Lame.

  • BJohnson

Comic Con people complaining about shows being there, get over it. Don’t go, don’t spend your money. Don’t watch all the blogs, websites, G4 and all the stuff Comic Con will have because TV, Movie and Internet is there. That includes this story. Sheesh.
I hope all in well for both and believe me, I doubt that was the only panel that people would pay all of that money for.

  • Surely You Jest

This is your top story, EW? Really?

    • Marty

Surely You Jest is just another idiot.

  • Al

Surely You Jest, Are you stupid? This is very important.
