A Port Charles troublemaker is coming to Salem. EW has learned exclusively that Sarah Brown, best known for originating the role of Carly on General Hospital, has joined the cast of NBC’s Days of Our Lives. She’ll play Madison James, a powerful CEO who takes on Sami (Alison Sweeney) as a protege. She also sets her sights on Brady (Eric Martsolf) and goes head-to-head with Kate (Lauren Koslow).

She’ll show up in September.

“Days of our Lives is one of television’s historic gems,” Brown said in a statement.  ”I’m excited to join such a talented cast to portray such a strong yet feminine character that will inspire our female viewers.”

Brown is daytime TV veteran, having won three Emmy Awards for her work on GH. She also appeared on As the World Turns and The Bold & the Beautiful.  Her addition is one of many changes that Days is making in an attempt to reboot the NBC sudser. Deidre Hall and Drake Hogestyn are also returning as Marlena Evans and John Black.

ha , funny tamara braun played the role of
carly on gh after sarah brown left and tamara is currently on days(lame role though)

    • Captain

And the person Tamara Braun replaced (Natalia Livingston) also was on General Hospital as Emily. They just can’t get enough of GH alums.

  • Margo

Days needs all the help it can get just to survive. But she hasn’t been in GH in ages. Not sure she’s the one to help Days.

    • Chango

It wasn’t quite ages. Sarah Brown was just on GH about two years ago maybe. She played a character named Claudia Zacchara.

    • Captain

She only left GH in 2009.

  • Again I say

    Bring back Steve and Kayla.

    • Brenna

      i seconded this!!!

    • Flip

Patch is on Y&R so they can’t bring back Patch and Kayla, unfortunately.

    • bpeels

      Amen to that.

  • Eli

    Days.Is.All.That! Can’t wait.

  • Chris

This is exciting. Kate needs some competition in town. Also great to see an Emmy winner on the show. Days lacks awards.

    • R.E.Bennett

Days has an Emmy winner – Tamara Braun who gave Days the first Emmy in over 30yrs in 2009! Unfortunately, the character of “Taylor” is not a likeable, nor well fleshed-out character. It took too long a time for the viewer to see the great passion between EJ and Taylor.
Sadly, poor storyline, poor writing is a formula for failure.

      • Rita

When ej kidnapped his own daughter and pay Anna to kidnappedbbaby sydney he have no ideal that what mean to Sami when her daughter have die

  • chris

YESS!!!! So great to see her on TV again. Shes terrific. Laura Wright & Tamara Braun cannot hold a candle to her. She will always be the real Caroline Benson.

  • Daniel Belgrave

That girl from Chlidern Show V>R> Troopers

  • Terrance

Now Lynette rice, u know u stole this scoop from Daytime Confidential just like u did at the Emmys. U should be ashamed of yourself.

  • Sue

This is different. Sami getting a job? Not sure how she will jell with Days, but hoping for the best.

Thanks for the Days of our Lives news.

  • Kevin

Don’t know what happen to her character on BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL.

  • Salem_Stud

Sarah is a talented actress. I look forward to seeing her as Madison on DOOL.

  • L

Guess i have to start watching DOOL :)

  • Blah

Wth? They’ve been making all these changes claiming to bring back the old Days and lose the newbies and then they bring on this new character? Make up your mind! Doesn’t matter, though. Days is in the crapper. Stick a fork in it. It’s done!

  • Alan Carver

WHO CARES! This medium is on the fast track to the GRAVE! You’ve seen it already with GL, ATWT, OLTL and AMC (although going to webcast, which means WHO CARES?) are just the first indicators that networks are watching their pennies now that they too have seen the writing on the wall! I hope to GOD that DOOL (aka DROOL) goes next! This show never had any appeal and still all these years later STILL HAS NO APPEAL! What a clunker!

    • Joboots

Stuck in 1995,when soaps started to go
      downhill after OJ,eh Alan????

    • shad

Well I for one love Days of Our Lives and hope it never goes off air

  • It’s leviOsa, not levioSA

Well it’s about time someone cut Kate down to size.
