Shannen Doherty weds new reality series -- EXCLUSIVE

She’s back: Shannen Doherty is returning to TV as the star of her own reality series. Cameras will follow the former 90210 star and her fiancé, celebrity photographer Kurt Iswarienko, as they plan their wedding in a new WEtv unscripted show.

The project will chronicle Doherty as she manages all the hectic aspects of preparing for her new marriage (meeting with wedding planners, choosing a venue, and of course, saying yes to a dress) while also renovating her Malibu home.

“People will see a side of Shannen they never expected to see,” says WEtv executive John Miller, who was sold on the concept after watching a pitch tape by Doherty and producers showing the actress “unfiltered, honest and vulnerable.”

In addition to appearing in both the 1990s and 2008 update of 90210, Doherty has co-starred in the shows North Shore and Charmed. Celebrity relationship docu-soaps have proven popular on cable, best demonstrated by none other than Doherty’s former 90210 co-star Tori Spelling over on Oxygen. If all goes according to plan, Doherty’s as-yet-untitled series will premiere in January and its first season finale will show the couple’s wedding. (Top that, Tori & Dean.)

But will viewers also flock to see Doherty once the honeymoon’s over?

“I would watch her go to a supermarket,” Miller says. “She’s insanely compelling.”

What do you think? Has WEtv found the ultimate Bridezilla?

Wonder if she will get tips from Tori&Dean. Otherwise, who cares ?

    • mark

does ‘unfiltered, honest and vulnerable’ mean she’ll act like a b!tch, because we’ve already seen that.

  • Kane

Meh. She shouldn’t have left Charmed when she did, it stayed watchable for another year or two afterwards, whereas her career died instantly.

    • Kristine

She was right to leave Charmed! It had become a strange combination of T&A and a childrens show. Fairies, princesses & Alyssa Millano’s many plastic surgeries. Good luck to her.

    • Cat

Charmed went downhill after Dorothy left. Her character kept the show somewhat grounded.

      • Jeremy

The worst thing that ever happened to Charmed was Doherty’s exit. I still watched the show, but it was never the same.

      • Zachary

i am a huge charmed fan and i love the show much much much more after she left it was a lot more creative and epic after she left when she was there it was more…..depressing she was a total downer while page was happy and peppy and brought the show some light i liked it both ways just the last couple years more

      • Shanta

If you were a real fan and loved Rose over Shannen,,, than i advise you to type her name correctly!!! It’s PAIGE … with an I… btw.. I loved Charmed with Shannen… she is the best (L)

She didn’t leave Charmed, she was fired! It’s a well known fact that she didn’t get along with Alyssa Milano & said it’s her or me. It’s too bad that Shannen is stuck doing reality TV since she’s a terrific actress. But her bad reputation precedes her talent.

    Great!!!1

    I agree with ‘Who Cares?’

Old “90210″ is in the far past and the actors are doing reality to desparately reclaim long lost fame.

EW was on the 90210 band wagon its first few years, but now it’s ancient history. As relavent as ‘Partridge Family’.

With the exception of Jason Priestly of course. He is directing and acting in some solid stuff.

      • mick

so has luke perry and jennie garth was on what i like about for 5 yrs

  • Kate

Not sure if I will watch this or not. When she was on DWTS I adored her with her dad. Not sure how this one will work.

  • Jaden

I was actually hoping for her to guest star on her pal’s (Sarah M Gellar) new show “Ringer”. Maybe that’ll still be possible. *fingerscrossed*

  • Jeremy

I’m very excited to see this show! I’ve been wanting to see Shannen in action again for some time now!

  • Scotty

totally agree! I think people have a completely wrong idea of this girl and will be surprised. I’m watching!

  • Elisha andrews

Will thia be showing in the uk?

  • Elisha andrews

    This*

  • John in England

Shannen is stunning…. I only had the charmed dvd’s to see her

    • LayniB

Unfiltered, honest and vulnerable? Oh, you mean she’s acting again. Why do these washed-up, has-been prima donnas insist on exposing their inner-most, fictional selves to the world? Spelling, Hasselhoff, Hilton and now Doherty. Ghastly and vulgar. I did like Charmed after she left though.

  • JPX

Doherty is known to be a miserable person who walks around with an undeserved sense of entitlement. I can’t imagine why anyone would want to spend two seconds watching this (see also: Paris Hilton).

    • Shanta

That’s just stupid!!.. if you watched.. dancing with the stars.. you would have seen a side of Shannen.. that she doesn’t show very often.. a vulnerable side… every one just know’s her like a strong and bitchy type.. but Shannen isn’t like that at all!!!

      • JPX

You are absolutely wrong. Do a little homework. She is notorious for her diva behavior. The cast of 90210 universally despised her.

    • Carrie

Actually, every time I’ve seen her interviewed she’s come across as very down to earth and likable.

      • sarah

Shannen had some problems as a teenager and young adult but she definitely grew up and out of it.

  • ilyes

i will watch i love her she’s a greata actress and a nice person

  • Zeke

This John Miller guy might be only a handful of people that would watch this before they KO it after a few episodes…then he’s out of a job as an end result.

  • cindy

I cant wait! Seriously missing Shannon Doherty, since Charmed.: )
